I wanted to hear more from the man who made and works this garden, about his motivation, inspiration, and the inevitable frustration of a dynamic outdoor space.

This is just beautiful! Deer were mentioned several times and that is a tremendous problem in my garden. How do they address that issue in this garden?

Being not too far from the port of kings and the homeowner being from south Carolina why are there no palms ?? I know that needle palms and sabal minors will grow easily a zone colder here just north in virginia. So you'd think he'd put in some palms considering the sc logo is a palmetto palm. I haven't been to kingsport in a couple years but last time I was there on stone drive a new resturant had installed a large number of 5 foot windmill palms right before winter and I'm wondering how well those have done unprotected? I've tried them here but I've had no luck it's too windy and cold but the port of kings is much warmer so I'm optimistic that those palms are still alive and well! With me living there for a few years I know there was a huge wind mill some where in a neighborhood in town a friend showed me 10 plus years ago that the home owner protects which is impressive considering it was 20 foot then. Sorry for my plant rant but being close to there and with my success of palms a little north I had to chime in!
