I have had several requests for a complete rundown of my home recording rig, so here it is! I'm keeping it pretty simple. Hit me with any questions in the comments!
Loving the videos Justin. So informative and you have a fantastic way of explaining things in a way that anyone can understand and learn from. Don’t stop!
Refreshingly simple and effective...Finally a "studio tour" that doesn't spend 5 minutes talking about what coffee maker is the best...And I couldn't agree more: it all comes down to the source...
Thank you for these! Been binge watching all your vids and really enjoying them. Please continue and keep them coming! Glad to see you're another ODRC user.
@Justin Ostrander awesome! I actually was Kais first demo for them. I have serial #1 of all of the variations hes made. Great dude and great pedals. I think the new white one sounds best. The 30th Anniversary one
I watched this one a while ago and had to come back to it for a sec. While going over some Kemper profiler videos today, I found a B&H Filmo profile that is in my Profiler that was made from a Bell & Howell Filmosound projector amp from the 1950’s. The creator, Bert M, mentions Blake Mills and a few others who use these like Tim Pierce. Now I have to buy the pack. The free one I have does sound quite good. Brian
I had a Supra just like yours that I lent to my brother that mysteriously disappeared after he played bottleneck on a old resonator guitar through it , too cool
I also use a PR30 quite a bit on guitar amps; either that or the PR35. I've noticed by wearing headphones and speaking into and around the PR30 that the leakage is different at 90 degrees of on-axis. This is particular useful knowledge when using it on a snare and minimizing leakage from the hi-hat but I think you might notice a difference when minimizing reflections in your garage. My findings are that the area with the badge and opposite the badge have the most leakage. It may be a small variation but it's a game of inches at your level.
I gotta tell you, I've had SO MANY specimens of the ODR-1 from multiple vintage greenies to a couple silvers to the mini pedal reissue, and this is my favorite by a country mile. You can quote me on that!
D’Addario strings? Yea them are really great strings as I’ve recently discovered. But have u heard about StringJoy strings? They’re based out of Nashville. They make great strings and their custom options are literally endless and their web interface is second to none
Very cool rig! I use an old Dm2 and a Pog2 as well. I actually use the pog as chorus with the detune funtion, and the first preset on the pog is just as a boost. I also use the sonic research tuner and the Nordland CC+ mini. Sorry to list my pedals, it's just validates my ear that you like those pedals too lol!
Dude, the Ryobi charger in your garage and the Mike Campbell drop - pure gold. We are best friends. Let's grab a cup of coffee (if you ever come to Michigan). Did you build your playing desk yourself?
I think so. I don't have any experience with the Vertex. I just asked for a very small clean boost pedal that I can use like a volume pedal with expression control so I could only have one expression pedal on the board. I know the XTS guys did not copy the Vertex design, but I'm not sure how they are different.
Appreciate the tour, thats for sharing. Always good to see what the pros are using. I just watched your Revv D20 video. What pickups are in your Danocaster?
Justin, how are you using multi pedals controlling one volume pedal? Most of my delays have one expression out plug. Trying to understand how you routed it. Thanks for your videos! Enjoy your approach to things. I am always learning.
Check out the video I did on that video “I use this pedalboard for sessions” or something like that. I go through all the routing and play through my favorite sounds I get out of it. That expression pedal is routed to both Strymon pedals and the XTS boost.
Hey Justin. Is the Tone Preserver plugged into your furman? Or right into the wall? And you use a power strip off of it for the 3 amps? I just got one. Thanks!
It is plugged into the Furman. Basically the whole studio fires up when I turn the Furman on. And then I have four amps or so plugged into a power strip into the back of the Tone Preserver. Nashville Electric runs very hot, and I don't need my old amps to see 125V.
I watched a RR with a guy playing an Orange amp and another amp with a “mini” rotating horn in it…. No mention of his name anywhere. Any idea who that guitarist is ????
I picked up the Meris Mercury 7 the other day. That plate is really good. Thanks for turning me on to that one. Any man can play a vintage tele but it takes a real man to play a titty pink bass. Just sayin'...Lol
