These series if vidoes will be my nerd side of things working with dell servers and lots of different networking equipment. Figured it was time to start recording my techical hobbies. I will update everyone on my progress as i go.
I don't too much about all the things you mentioned, but as a casual observer, I'd say that system looks sick! How have you put it to work over the years?
The comment section is nuts, give him a break being little nervous while explaining, most of us don't have this kind of personal setup anyway, keep it up this is great
Thanks for the support, ya people have been going crazy in this video so i will do another one for an update and see ehat happens! Nevertheless all these crazy comments are quite entertaining.
One can use a home server setup for lots of things. Personal storage for music, videos, and pictures. Im my case majority of these servers are running different OSs which gives me the option to experiment with different platforms.
I love this! I am planning on hosting a site and will be getting a dell poweredge (I forgot the last part) and I will soon be getting it. Your server room seems amazing! Keep up the work!
Hold on, so some of your driver's you refer to as 3000 GB and then you say 2 tb. What's wrong with saying 3 tb? Just curious why you say some are thousands of gigabytes rather than terabytes
@@sorinszabo6177 problem is max 50MB/s r/w operations and 32bit architecture. 2 core is too low for ssh transmission even without encrypt. So, like many says in country where i live - something for something - low power draw but not enough possibilities.
Its my home lab many of them run virtulization and i am starting my studdies in linux as well. So its really nice to have several servers to experiment with.
Excellent setup. I am also trying to take up this hobby. I am afraid how expensive this hobby would be. so I have a few questions: 1. how much more you are paying for electricity per month? 2. do you need to rent out a separate facility for that? 3. what is the use of all these in terms of learning new skills in data science/ big data/cloud automation/AIops ? I am not really into gaming or streaming ( too busy with life. do not have the time for that). Again. I am inspired by seeing your video. keep it coming!!
1. 2 servers running cost me about 40 extra a month,. It really depends on the state you live in for the prices. 2. No renting in this home setup. 3. I get asked a lot why I have this setup and its because the learning possibility's are endless. The servers I have at home are mine and are not in some data center somewhere costing rent space, just power. I have no regulations with a home lab and I don't need to schedule an outage to complete any service impacting work. Server parts are generally really cheap so I have a spare parts for most of my hardware. installing your own OS is very easy and you can change your entire system when ever you want. Many people in this channel prefer to have their machine remote, but i prefer being able to physically see and touch all of my hardware.
By the looks of this video, we handle our equipment somewhat differently. Good for you if yours runs fine anyway. 😊 For instance: Ejecting and inserting disks need / should / could to be done at a slower pace as you otherwise run the risk of ripping connectors apart when or if they end up just at the edge of the handling tolerance. I've seen it happening to colleagues.
@@adiflorense1477 Looks like its this guys hobby. I'm the same way. Great way to learn and better understand. Like why do you still own a wristwatch, you have a clock on your smartphone. chips and dicks, everyone like a good sausage. What's the issue here Adi?
@@raulgranadillo7 thank you for your concern but this is my "home" server room which means i can do with it what i want. This thing has been in there for a year and this room is only accessable by me and me only. Never had a leak or a problem neither do i have earthquakes.
wow you have 60000 TB in those Dell MD1000 :-D lol How do you also spit your memory into 2 partitions man - do you even know what you are doing - or did you google all this
Ok well first of all i would like to point out that you have no videos on your channel so you claiming that i dont know what im doing is false. I dont know who you are and i dont know what you actually know. Im assuming you are looking at home server videos becuase you want to see how one is set up and maybe want to set how other home server rooms look. So maybe you are the one infact looking to the world wide web for adivce and tips because you want to set up your own server room. Second yes i did make a mistake in the video by saying 60k tbs. Like i have commented other times in othere comments this was a mistake. Would have been wise to read the other comments. Third upon splitting the partition, when the OS was in the proccess of being installed the drive where all under 1 partition. Upon completion the drives where split. This issues has since been fixed. Fourth. If you dont like my vidoes then go watch someone else's.
@@ATI556 - You assume (guess thats just made an ass out of you) that due to the fact I have zero videos on my channel that I know nothing about what I am doing... You assume wrong - Last time I looked at my ID badge for work it said Enterprise Hardware after the company name.. Run along - maybe next time you will have learned never to assume and make yourself look stupid :-)
@@ikweby9169 actually i havent assumed anything about you personally and i dont plan to. You sir are the one that assumed i dont know what im doing and that i googled everything so that's a ass assumption there. What im stating is if you go around beating down people's videos for small b.s. things like that then thats just sad. People are on youtube to have fun and learn. Now what you could done which would have been awesome is beat my video down then actually provided some helpful information regarding solutions and tips. You said you work for a hardware enterprose group which would require some degree so you most likely know your stuff. I have no evidence to prove or deny that assumption aside from what you stated in the last comment. Anyways have a good day sir and ya i think I will run along and go make more youtube videos😂 Alsk happy Thanksgiving!
