New sofa is GREAT in that room! Swap out the coffee table for sure-right now, the three upholstered, rectangle items (couches and bench) in the sitting area leaves no negative space for the eye to rest. My suggestion: A simple, VERY LOW coffee table in walnut or burlwood wood would be so chic. I’m envisioning something that feels modernist and Japanese-low, chunky legs and a surface for styling that still allows a sight line that is lower than the sofas (again, right now all three are the same height, and it’s visually cluttered at that sight line).
I much prefer your vlog videos (I love seeing people’s homes!). Suggestions to mix it up: - “7 favorite items in my house” - how to create a vignette - FB marketplace window shopping (when you’re actually on the hunt for something)
Honestly just removing the foam on top of the table will already create that movement, and she just needs to style it with items on different heights. However, if possible, swap it out.
I think swaping the couches, and having the striped one in front of the windows might look good. As it probably has a lower back it will let in more light and it wont clash with the backround of kitchen cabinets, barstools, shelving unit etc. Great fabric choice!
I think the armless sofa where it is is good because it keeps it a bit more open in that back part of the living room where the corner of the room and bookcases and entry to hall and kitchen all are . I think the sofa with arms and higher back there would just bull it up to much in and already busy tight spot
Paige I think you’re so awesome and endearing I don’t think you need to worry about your online presence being visible to people you’re dating. I think you cast a great impression
i love your vlog style videos so i selfishly appreciate that this is the result of your burnout, but take whatever time you need in whichever way best benefits you
I'd change the location of the sofas! I'd put the brown one where the new one is and viceversa. And maybe, because the ottoman is also a rectangle I'd choose a different shape to avoid three parallel lines. I love your creativity!
I LOVE the new sofa! I would place it where you currently have your other sofa, I think it would work better with a less 'noisy' background to bring up the beautiful pattern a bit more.
Long time sewing person here: next time you do this, do not attach a liner. Take the fabric side, fold your fabric over about 2-3 inches and sew about 1/2 inch from the top to hold the seam. Lay the liner over the fabric panel on the floor (the way it will hang on the rod). Make the top edge even and mark the holes. Learn how to sew a button hole! You can do it and it’s really fun! Make a button hole for each mark you marked being sure to make the hole going up and down, not sideways. Now you can hand the linen panel on your hooks! Voila! It’s going to look fabulous!
Agree with this 100%! The fabric loops should be separate from the curtain. Hem the top and bottom of the curtain. It makes it stronger, too. Sew a large button onto one end of the loop, and make a button hole on the other end. Put the loop through the curtain and liner, and then loop it over the rod, finishing with the button through the buttonhole. Adjust the button so it looks nice, either on the inside or outside of the curtain.
I LOVE all your videos but I do really enjoy the "non sit down ones", just seeing you potter around the house with everyday life is so comforting and soothing to me
Love the room with two sofas . The chairs were great but this new arrangement is so cozy looking, and has a sort of old-fashioned vibe that goes with the architecture.
Inflation and Recessions are part of the economic cycle, all you can do is make sure you're prepared and plan accordingly. I graduated into a recession (2009). My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today I'm a VP at a global company, own 3 rental properties, invest in stocks and biz, built my own business, and have my net worth increase by $500k in the last 4 years.
You need a Financial Advisor my friend so you don't get ripped off in the market. They provide personalized advice to individuals based on their risk appetite, placing them among the best of the best. There are bad ones, but some with good track records can be very good.
I know I've wanted to start investing for a few months, but just haven't had the courage to start because the market has been down for most of this year. Please how can I reckon with such skills and what are his services like?
That’s awesome I had some stocks through my work & IRA accounts But I didn’t see any returns & after I left there I made the mistake of of not transferring it so I was paid out before I could-lately, I haven’t worked for a while for a company that I could invest in stocks with, so I don’t know where to start. It just seems so risky now.
I love the new sofa. great choice of style and fabric. I feel the coffee table thing isn't quite working, it's all feeling quite rectangular, maybe some other shapes would be nice. different scale of things. little side table instead, idk
The ottoman isn't functional enough to sub as a coffee table and it's too heavy in relation to the other pieces. I agree with Paige that there is too much fabric. I do love the ottoman so maybe it belongs in another part of the home.
Love the new couch and the fabric on it! It looks super cozy. It has less detail than the chairs did, so it blends more seamlessly in the room. I personally think you need a coffee table that's "hard," like a chrome glass-topped table. It would give a little edge and sparkle (reflection) because there *is* a lot of fabric, as you said.
Anything other that the new piece of "art" she put up. It sticks out like a sore thumb. I'd put a large mirror up with some curves around the top - don't add more wood, add metal - so a metal framed mirror with some scroll on the top - the room is all angles... It needs some soft lines for balance. Paige's taste with the wood and classic 60s kind of modern/woodsy vibe has an architectural feel. I could see modern art there, a big RED Rothko kind of thing with a black line and a bit of white. Just remove the tech looking collage that doesn't fit at all anywhere in that apartment.
You can purchase hooks for your shower curtain that have two sides attached. One side is used for the decorative fabric and one side for the shower liner.
Please create a Check Out This Home series coffee table book (or any coffee table book) so I can give you my money. Taking screenshots doesn’t cut it. I want to touch the pretty pictures! And read cute little asides. I appreciate you!
I honestly think bringing the old fireplace art would help the sofa situation. The green in that art pops and gives life to the room and I’d pull some of those green shades in throw pillows.
I like the barstools behind the lovely new sofa. Maybe, reupholster the barstools getting rid of the gray color in a fabric solid color but lots of texture.
I really like the new couch. I love the fabric. I think it was a good idea to stuff the couch more---and unless you're completely opposed to it, you might want to add a twin-size foam mattress pad to the bottom side of the stuffing for a little more "form." Also, perhaps you might want to add tie-downs to the corners of the cushion. As it is right now, it reminds me of a pool float the way it V-s up when you sit on it. I don't mean to sound critical because I really do like it.
Paige! One of the few, the proud, the male viewer. Just finished binge-ing (binging?) from the beginning. This has become one of my favorite channels. Your informal, laid back film/production style is so refreshing to the over produced video landscape YT has become. Hope you don't think that means the video quality is low. The little vignettes, photos, and shot framing are all excellent. Your design style is awesome, and very helpful at introducing new stores, artists, and designs/layouts I haven't seen before. Your personality is so great for this format, it's funny, not so serious, or preachy. Also, never stop saying what you're about to do, even though we know you're gonna do it, definitely makes it a bit more fun. Carry on!
Try swapping the location of the couches to check for balance? It feels like you have more breathing room closer to the door, which would better accommodate the new, more substantial sofa? On the shower curtain, it's only worth doing if you're improving on what's out there. Your choice of fabric can elevate the offering, but it's hard to improve on the essential ease of movement the steel ball hooks provide. If you could use those hooks but essentially hide them, THAT would be amazing. Make the curtain with a pinch pleat vibe, but add a hem tape with sewn-in gaps, low enough from the top edge to insert and completely hide the easy-glide hooks?
The room is really coming together and I like the new sofa. I think that the barstools could do with a reupholster in something brighter, like that pop of neon you always refer to, yet not really neon… maybe a a bright olive or chartreuse solid.
A video where subscribers to send you links to art / objects they think you’ll love from their town could lead to some interesting discoveries from around the world. (mine would be Food for Everyone posters from Melbourne)
Love the sofa!!! As for video ideas: I would love to see more of your ideas for blank spaces if your subscribers! Would be so cool to see how you would furnish real places all over the world! ❤️
for the couches: what if you switched where they were? i don’t think it’s too much orange… OR different ottoman would be cool. a wooden, japanese style would be nice but i know you already have a lot of wood in the room and want the comfort but there’s just a lot of fabric in the room don’t touch the bar stools just sit with everything for a second lol
I honestly burst out laughing and had tears rolling down my face when you were re-enacting walking along the road and also your Halloween bit. I watched it three times 😂I loved the print of the medium sized bag and I'm sure you will come up with something perfect as a liner. Absolutely love your channel!!!
The new fabric for the shower curtain is beautiful. New couch is perfection, love the fabric. I saw a close up shot of your red couch and the fabric looks beautiful and comfy, I was doubting it at first but could't see much detail from afar. The tote bag at the end is super cool! I'm definitely gonna be buying that. Please ship it internationally (cheaply😂)
The new sofa is great! You do, however, have a lot of upholstery going on and wood, wood, and more wood. I would add some metal accents in some capacity, possibly change out the barstools for metal ones with comfortable seat cushions only instead of entire upholstered chair tops. Make the coffee table oval, you've got a lot of linear elements. Definitely change out the fireplace art for something else. Maybe switch out some of the mantel decor to add in some small hand forged/rustic metal pieces there as well. Mix it up!
Please do a video about decorating with record players and records. Or making a music spot. It is so relaxing and fun! Also, consider buying a simple folding table from Costco, Walmart or other that you can pull out quickly when u need to sew or have to make a project😀. See if u can slip it under your couch, bed or closet. Love your channel! It is so authentic and inspiring!
Hi! You have such good taste! The sofa fit in so well, but I agree with you, would find another table. The new showercurtain was much better. Also love the bags!
I love the fabric of the couch! Such a great choice! I also like the green curtain much better in the bathroom because it compliments the blue tile. The tote bags are beautiful as well!
I love the home updates! I’d love to see you talk more about how best address large collections with simple thoughtful sustainable design. Examples- plant collections, rare books, crystals/minerals, family photos, cute thrifted items like different colored vases.
Lynne here from Canada. Hi Paige I’d def change the coffee table to an oval as everything is so rectangular. Love the sofa. Your relaxed style of video is lovely, I really enjoy your channel. Kudos to you for videoing even when you don’t feel up to it. I know it’s hard but do it anyway. Be kind to yourself.
Love the long straps and I would even continue them at the bottom of the bag. Can't wait for this one to come out! Love the couch, fits perfectly with the shelves.
Obsessed with the couch and the fabric with your bookshelves! Also I would love your opinion on how to style throw pillows like fabrics, sizing, how many, where to buy and all that. Its probably the thing I struggle with the most in design and it seems like it should be the easiest.
I’m currently using the exact same double sided hooks you show here. They’re such a game changer. I can now take my liner down separately to wash as needed, which is more often than the curtain. Also, it’s supposed to be better to leave liners fully open (stretched) after every shower so water can freely run down and air out instead of getting trapped if you bunch up the curtain on one side.
The new shower curtain is a hit, a massive improvement on the previous one. The new sofa is also a hit, and the only thing throwing the living room area off now is the ottoman. If you want to keep it, I would suggest reupholstering it in a green fabric and swapping out its legs for metal ones. And also add some green cushions on either of the sofas. If you are not adamant on keeping it, get a round glass, or metal, (preferably chrome), or stone table. It would create a beautiful tension with all the other warm materials in the space. Loved the episode! 👍
Maybe an idea for the shower curtain could be to have the liner with hoops (so that the hoops are more water proof and dont mold) and then the fabric to attach. That way you could also sell fabric part and liner part separately and consumers could change the look of their shower curtain if the wanted to🤔 Just a thought🤷🏻♀️ I love your channel, its the best interior design channel on youtube! ❤
If you like pleated style curtains, you could add the pleating backing (not sure what it's called), then use regular curtain pleat hooks and curtain rings on the shower rod. You won't see the rings from the front. 2 problems are way more fabric and might not work for rods you can't take down.
Brilliant fabric selection for your new sofa🤩 Have you tried switching the location of the 2 sofas? Also, some patterned cushions on the solid sofa, will help the 2 mesh more. A brown men’s suiting fabric will be lovely on your bench/ottoman. Thank you for sharing your adventures🌞 Wishing you light and love precious soul🕊️
I like the new couch, the fabric is great! Maybe swap the couches so that the old one goes where the new one currently is? It's hard to say for sure without actually being in the space, but maybe it looks a little big right there? I'm thinking about walkways and just having some air around it. I've never been the biggest fan of the bench/coffee table personally, can't put my finger on exactly why because I like the shape and concept of it! Maybe something like the Hay Kofi coffee table could look nice there?
Paige-I started watching your videos, maybe a month or so before your breakup. I could feel your sadness. I don’t know if it’s that time has passed, or your move to CA, or both, but you look so much better. The light is back in your eyes. Looking forward to cringy date stories. ❤️
I think the new sofa is awesome! Its the most beautiful thing in the room. you might change the Polster of the coffeetable (beige or green?) or change the carpet and put it in your bedroom?
I would really love to see how you incorporate holiday/seasonal decor (Halloween, Christmas etc) without it looking cheesy or cheap. Seasonal floral arrangements that are unique but not cheesy?
Love the new sofa! It looks like brown toned to me. The table looks like it has dark blue pads on it. I think the colors are fine together. Any other colors can be added with art, pillows, flowers, books, etc.
Hi Paige, regarding the shower curtains- I made mine as one big rectangle, then I use Ikea 'Syrlig' curtain rings with clips. Works well and they come in different colors!
