Humble family, hugely successful and famous patriarch, generations of a legacy. Inspirational story, right there. At my advanced age and health, it's a real bucket list thing to visit Level Cross one day. God bless the Petty family. - Ed on the Ridge

Do it! Lol! I finally made the trek last year for Pettyfest. It was absolutely amazing! The museum and the garage are awesome and every single person there is just incredible. Everyone speaks to you like you're lifelong friends and that includes Petty family members. Wonderful people. The best of course was getting to meet Richard Petty himself and show him my car and what I've done to it. The King autographed a couple things for me and he signed my car!! Best day ever! Lol. All the way home to New York (an hour north of Watkins Glen) I'd periodically say to my wife "hey honey guess what? Richard Petty signed my car!" Lol

Awesome. I had the pleasure to meet and speak with Richard Petty at the Brickyard 400 hanging out by the pits during in the early 2000s. What a nice man.

No connection with the famous short track, my daddy started calling me that when I was always playing draw with Marshall Dillon every Monday night when Gunsmoke came on our TV 😂 As for the spelling of Miss Lynda's name, no biggie, just figured you'd like to know is all 👍 Take care & be well 🙏

"CARS" made that beautiful Blue bird even more famous than it already was, I guess Richard too for that matter, but pretty as she always has been, for this Ol' Petty Fan, The King will forever drive that 73-77 Charger thru the back roads of my memories 🙏 With that said... Long Live The KING, Long Live The Blue Bird! #IBleedPettyBlue43 #43FOREVER!

I'm very impressed. Richard, you are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a loving and talented family. Such support trumps all. By the way, Goodwood is very impressive. I really didn't know much about it until recently. All the best.

I read,somewhere, that Don Garlits consulted with Lee Petty (Richard's dad) on how to properly tune a Hemi, when he started running them. I have no idea how true it is, but it's a cool story.

I'm 63. nobody said what speed the nose and wing started working aero gains
@elmerfudpucker3204
@elmerfudpucker3204 25 дней назад
The rear wing always gave it downforce, the faster it went, the more downforce. The nose started coming in at around 100MPH, but after about 150MPH, the rear spoiler and the nose started working against each other. If you search a little, you can find how they started working on front lower valence splitters, to give it more front downforce. Buddy Baker took a Daytona to the first 200MPH lap speed for NASCAR at Talladega, in the early testing days. He said when he was at top speed, you could turn the wheel back and forth and it wouldn't turn the car. He had to come off the throttle as he approached the turns, so he could steer through them. Just imagine if he didn't have to lift! Would have made even more history that day.

..the only thing wrong with this video is that it is 1 second too long. Ahaha! ..anyone note the green Superbird in the shop? Looked to be a modded car, a convertible! Wild. Maybe a GTX, or road runner with a wing/beak. Interesting. & I never noted the stainless flashing they installed between the rear bumper & quarter panel before..still learning new things about this 54 yr old beautiful beast.🩵🏁🏆
