No. Michael Cuesta did not win Best Director. Boardwalk Empire got that. This season got 6 of it's 9 Emmy noms. Drama Series, Writing (the pilot), Single Camera Editing (the pilot) Lead Actor and Actress (Claire and Damian both used the finale) and Drama Casting
facts. just started homeland....up 2 season 3.....not the same. first 2 seasons were NEXT LEVEL!!!! def up there for the #1 spot as best first 2 sesons of the show
Samuel A dude season 3 is not as good I agree, but please don’t stop because it is better than ever from season 4 til the end. It’s a masterpiece of a show. Season 5 is the best in my opinion, and 4 - 7 and the season finale (8) are just as good !
Homeland was so ahead of the curve for a few years, but I wonder if reality finally caught up to it. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to write for a show when our present political reality is much more volatile, bizarre and ever-changing. Here's hoping Season 8 will be a mind-blowing end to a terrific show. Finally, God bless the men and women of the intelligence community who have given so much of their lives to protect the homeland. Let's all remember that they are the guardians and keepers of our freedom and democracy. Regardless of what certain politicians say, let us not forget that they are the good guys!
We can say that Brody was one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Carrie, Saul, Quinn, Dar Adal... It would be possible to clarify the following doubts: - Would you like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press? - Clearly, Javadi's ability to receive credit for Brody's capture helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? - Was your name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you think. - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. He ended up doing that scene ... why ?? Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and she succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was incredible, it will be one of the most memorable moments in the series, without a doubt! “And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see what you see in him. That happened. Everyone sees it through your eyes now ... ” - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see this? It's the world? The 3rd season did not correspond to the 1st and 2nd as it should be. Compared to most seasons it was weak, as the plot and plot issues that were overlooked or addressed briefly stood out in season 3. There was no "hunting" in Brody's scenes earlier in the season to make it look like he really was desired NOS. Where Roya Hammad and his terrorist partner M.M. They were? We never received an explanation for the events surrounding how Brody's car was moved and his involvement, only what we got was the "real" author of the bomb at the CIA in a hotel that we must believe to be a super leap that changed the script. For such an investment in storytelling around Brody's family over the past 3 seasons, for him to just disappear the way he did, it was a waste of time - to make Dana's story worse, it was shallow. And all those scenes about Mike and Brody's wife continually in love with each other, and just ending up in season three were useless - and Brody's son disappeared. What about Brody's marine friends who thought he was part of the conspiracy? And Quinn's underutilization throughout the season after being instrumental in the beginning of the second season's premiere. All positive points, they should have made the homeland a show of this 3rd season and address every possible plot! Claire Danes and Damian Lewis gave us, in Damian’s words, “two broken-winged birds sort of hobbling and circling around each other” in Carrie and Brody in such a compelling way that even though it really ended in tears, it was a GREAT RIDE as long as it lasted. And if you miss these two as much as we do, you may want to re-live the LOVE with Carrie and Brody: Was It Love? YES. Homeland had a sensible ending, closed all of Carrie's stories, while continuing the ongoing story of America's and Russia's rivalry. The series ends, but does not end, only better than that was seeing all these years incredible performances by Davis, Damian Lewis, Rupert Friend and Mandy Patinkin ...
Award for "Homeland" (Showtime, 2012)... Who deserved to be the winner as a supporting actor Homeland sent all of his supporting actors for Emmy consideration (yes, even Chris Brody), now the only one with a chance - and a good chance - to a nomination is our own teddy bear, Mandy Patinkin. After being despised by a nomination last year, which surprised almost everyone, he is in a good position to enter the roster this year. On the positive side, Patinkin is loved on this show, playing probably the nicest character (he's not the mole, guys). Saul's role has become more prominent this season and with that came more critical acclaim. The second season may have been a shit storm of action and scary watched sex and punches and runs, but the Bear was at the center of it all, calm and quiet and a force to be reckoned with. He still has two featured shipping tapes in "The Clearing" and "The Choice" (I would choose "The Choice", which I consider a more powerful performance, but it's just me). And because Supporting Actor is a weaker overall category this year than last year (when two strong performances, Jared Harris in Mad Men and Giancarlo Esposito in Breaking Bad, both ineligible this year, received nominations), he is likely to succeed, probably comfortably. Still, you may wonder why Patinkin, who has won an Emmy and participated in several TV shows in the past twenty years, has not gotten a nomination. I think he was probably the seventh or eighth in last year's vote, so he narrowly missed. It was a stronger category last year and Homeland was nowhere near as popular as it is today. It was generally agreed that the show underperformed in the nominations. Sure, he made up for his surprising wins, but that his wins were surprising (he benefited a lot from the tape system, like a more recent program) says he still didn't have the influence or prominence of a Mad Men or even a Breaking Bad . Mandy Patinkin looks set to receive a nomination for this role for the first time. His Golden Globe nomination earlier this year will certainly help him, as will his character's increased presence this season and the program's growing overall profile.
Were you happy with how Brody’s story ended? the main reason being to inform them exactly why and how Brody died, which right now has to be kept as a very tightly held secret. The last thing the Revolutionary Guard or the Ayatollahs in Tehran would want to hear is that this was actually a CIA operation. It has to play out that Brody was out of his mind when he killed Akbari. That has to be the official story so that whatever delicate peace negotiations transpire can move forward. I think they did a really good job with it. I knew he had become a popular character so I wanted him served well. I wanted him to go out with a bang. I wanted him to have a grand finale. I didn’t expect a hero’s finale because Brody is not a hero, he’s become too much of a tragic figure over the course of three seasons; he’s a damaged man. I just wanted it to resonate, I wanted it to be moving, and be very affecting in the way he goes to his death with so much unsaid, so much undone. I wanted it to really register with the audience - the pain between himself and Carrie and she sees him go to his death. I just hoped we would honor all those things. He told Carrie he didn’t want her to be there. But in those last moments he tries to find her and does. In the moment he’s being executed in a foreign land in front of strangers, it’s very clear at he would love a familiar face to look at, and even better that it’s Carrie’s - a woman that he loves. That’s really what I was concentrating on, trying to do that in a credible way while having the life choked out of me. I was concentrating on the minutia of acting.
Homeland could start up again and not miss a beat. With the world the way it is now, the storyline with Carrie in Russia would be more relevant than ever.
I started Homeland recently, now I'm on season 4 and I gotta say, even though Breaking Bad is still my favorite show, the writing of it is not even near the level of Homeland.
@@rituparnamarik3185 True, but the last few episodes of S5 leading up to finale were incredible. Particularly Hank's discovery of Heisenberg and his Death.
i swear you have no idea what you're talking about. i'm a HUGE fan of both mad men and breaking bad and let me tell you: both tell incredible stories in VERY different ways. golden globes, emmys, SAG awards, all of them say so!
I noticed one thing that was similiar to both the Emmy Winners of the Sopranos and Homeland. Both Casts and Crew of both never Thanked the Organizations that their Shows were about. The Sopranos never Thank the Mafia for the being allowed to tell Mafia Stories . And at least from Claire DAnes wins in both the Emmy and Golden Globes- she never Thanked the CIA. Actually both organizations- the CIA and Mafia did work together although not always for the Greater Good.
For any new show thats a big hit like Homeland. Its VERY HARD to top the 1st season of any show. The 2nd season of Homeland wasnt that bad&it wasnt terrible. It wasnt better than the1st season, but usually it rarely is4any other show..lol.The only show that I can think of thats better than the1st season is Breaking Bad.The later seasons of that show gets more wild, crazy&more suspense&way better than the 1st season.
When it comes to Emmys/Oscars, voters always side with American themes... homeland, MadMen, argo, Zero dark30, Lincoln etc.. they all beat out smarter more creative stuff because they were about our country.. sucks but thats what older people value.
What the fuck is wrong with you. I know I'm four years late, but just fuck. I don't think you even saw the first season of homeland. It is fucking ethereal.
I havent watched Mad Men so I wont judge it yet.Huge fan of LOST.But comparing Game of Thrones with Spartacus. How can it be better..lol???Only thing is the acting.Better story with Spartacus.More action(killing, fighting, action),lots of blood, guts, brains, sex, orgy parties, beautiful women,suspense,cursing,etc.. In 2words.NOT BORING..lol.
I agree the 1st season of Homeland was better. But the 2nd season was still good.Homeland is deserving of this Emmy. But I wouldnt be upset if Breaking Bad won also:) Seen Games of Thrones&honest2god it sucked..lol.The show Spartacus is WAY better than that shit..LOL!!!
Breaking Bad is in its own universe. I mean only the intro-segments of each episode deserve an Emmy. With that said, Homeland was fantastic this year so well deserved.
Dude what did U expect4the 2nd season of Homeland???Brody the Soldier became a Senator. It makes sense&its suppose2b similar to the show24.Cause its the same writers. But Homeland got a WAY better Storyline&WAY better acting than 24. On the other hand 24 has more suspense&action compared2Homeland so it isnt boring.I only like the 1st 5 seasons of 24.Then it just sucked after that.
In what way is that pathetic? Are you supposed to watch shows without any sort of opinion or feelings? Don't be so pretentious, there is nothing wrong with having strong feelings about a television show.
Bottomline Jon Hamm hasnt won any Emmys yet cause Bryan Cranston won most of all of them from him..LOL!!! Breaking Bad is WAY BETTER THAN MAD MEN..lol.ITS WAY MORE ORIGINAL, EXCITING & WAY BETTER ACTING..LOL!!! THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A SHOW LIKE BREAKING BAD SO U HAVE ZERO CLUE WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT..LMFAO!!!
I would have been cool with Breaking Bad winning. But the first season of Homeland, flaws and all, was a masterpiece of television, one of my top 10 favorite seasons of any drama. It's just a shame they couldn't sustain anywhere near that level after the first episodes of season 2.
How could this shitty show beat Breaking Bad and GoT? Episodes were slow and boring. That's why nobody cares about it anymore. On the other hand, most of the people remember and love Breaking Bad.
Watched the 1st episode of Mad Men. Its so boring&slow. No excitement, suspense or action??? The acting maybe great, but the storyline is crap. After U watch 1 episode of Spartacus or LOST or 24 or Homeland or Breaking Bad.Ur automatically hooked on it&a fan..LOL!!! Its NOT even close dude..haha!!!
game of thrones > everything else... homeland? not at all credible, plausible, believable nor convincing... it's not a bad show but it's not even in the same league as these other shows
What's so great about this show? I don't get it, I've tried to watch the first season, I couldn't, this show tries to be serious, and I have nothing against that, but the story is just stupid, the characters are stupid, and I couldn't give a shit about them.... I'd rather watch 24, at least that show had a stupid story but it wasn't supposed to be a serious show
