@@rsns776 ik it's a mental breakdown but like here you can actually tell and feel like his mind is getting like squeezed in because he knows he can't change anything so he has to do something about it but can't, resulting in him pacing around a hallway doing anything and thinking of anything to fix it or even cope. It's funny but it's also really good acting.
Oh god, homelander is gaining Patrick Bateman status He is, quite frankly, literally me On a side note i actually do agree that his portrayal of a breakdown is very realistic speaking from experience
Along with the incredible acting, I think the violin solo in the background is absolutely phenomenal, I always love when violins and other classical instruments are brought in to further emphasize how someone is falling into insanity or anger, it’s so unnerving
@@amphibianking4277 it's such a great touch just because of how out there it is you never hear any other classical instruments in this fucking show other than those little moments
@@wuhlfzebayne I honestly love how they only ever bring out instruments for moments like this, as it really helps you pinpoint the exact moment a character is boiling or about to snap, it fills me with anxiety and stress for what’s about to happen next
Same here. But before leaving the house I check myself in the mirror and practice some facial gestures to see if I look alright and then I continue my day like nothing lol
bro go to the video of him ranting about starlight and the first few seconds are amazing and no one talks about it. The violin, the cinematography, the subtle facial expressions from starr. its amazing. i suggest you check it out
@@MrTheDonMagicOne I’d say his full snap will be when even his supporters stop loving him, which is when he would turn the world into the equivalent of what Batman saw in his Knightmare world
@@MrTheDonMagicOne Yuppp, imagine the scorched Earth thing becomes true, yikes, that would be both terrifying and a really good subversion of common expectations, it would also make Homelander one of the scariest villains, since he would be one to accomplish destroying humanity
i can relate to this so well, i have made a channel especific for games only, but it was so shit that i just privated every video. and also it was while ago when i released it so its not something i just made now, both channel and privated.
Reason people kind of... sympathise with Homelander is because at one point or another, we've all been in these kinds of ugly moments. The fact that he has these moments and we're shown him at his lowest makes him more human than the rest of the cast. And deep down, we want him to be loved, and to become a better person.
Homelander to the audience is an odd mixture of the audience craving something so horrifically terrible to happen to him and the audience wanting him to be treated better so he can stop…well, doing everything he’s done so far in the show.
These scenes do show that Homelander is a person, but the realization that you're supposed come to from scenes like this is a frightening one; that being that there are people just like this in the real world that if given Homelander's powers would commit the same heinous acts he does.
Honestly I think this might be my favorite scene in the series. Just the levels to Starr's acting here... the hand gestures, the small ticks on his face. There's literally no one else on planet Earth who could play this role better than him.
0:23 I like how the same violin piece is played slower and happier at the end of season 3, when he just lasered that guy instead of restraining himself to a mental breakdown.
Something that goes wildly underappreciated in The Boys is its depiction of mental health. Trauma, repression, breakdowns, toxic masculinity, self esteem/hatred/loathing, insecurities, disorders, coping mechanisms, etc. are all so realistically and well executed, and their inclusion gives a much deeper look into the characters and why they act the way the act or think the way they think. The recognition of the various mental states the characters experience before and throughout the plot is something many stories fail to do, and it’s nice to see it be one of the forefronts of The Boys.

@@SomeoneSomewhere-el3cl Were you even watching the show? Soldier Boy alone would've proved you wrong. Ffs, if you're gonna not watch the actual series don't pretend that you have in front of people who actually did.

He’s playing one of the most menacing villains on tv atm and one of the most complex superhero villains of all time, I say he’s already doing an important role
i saw my ex this one time when i was going for a trip with my family so i can take a break from school (bcuz it has been keeping me in pain and insane for a couple of months or weeks) and then i saw her and i said **i'll go to the bathroom real quick** i saw an abandoned food court so i went in there and started to have a mental breakdown like homelander
@@thegodzillaboi2113 goddamn...I feel your pain man- I felt and still feel the same way when I see my ex around, it gets easier over time Don't give up man
You wouldn't think one of the most realistic portrayal of a mental breakdown to pop up in a superhero show The combination of all stages of grief and laughing out of fear. Looking up to the sky searching for a solution. Brilliant scene and acting
"Bro dont go with her" "dude shes cute as heck who cares if she likes hello kitty" "Your in danger" "Yeah, of losing my virginity. Gotta go, shes here" 0:13
Honestly, wow, they did a pretty realistic portrayal of how these things can go for a lot of people. Normally a lot of shows or films will just show one very extreme emotion - which is fine. But a bunch of quick smash cuts showing him going between nervously pacing to laughing, to forced/fake laughter, crying, swearing and raging in frustration? That's honestly brilliant. When you're caught in an absolute tailspin of emotions things really can change that fast.
