@@damienperlman2837 Yeah, it shouldn't be relatable. It shows emotional immaturity, like a toddler that just doesn't know how to handle basic social interactions
@edwardo_rojas_ Indeed. Bpd and trauma from extreme bullying and exposure to porn and slashers at the age of 6. Hence the tough out here. Appreciate the insult though. I don't believe that a struggle to fake human emotion or rather the struggle to emit genuine positive emotion makes you a toddler. But you right.
@@damienperlman2837 The fact that you took it as an insult shows that you're not in a good mental state. Don't put yourself in the role of victim. Instead, understand that being socially inept is not your fault and it's not something you can control. Seek professional help and work on healing that broken part of you. Trauma will always remain, but we can always stop letting it hurt us. I wish you only the best
There is no Antony, there is only Zuul... uhm. Sorry. Homelander. I meant Homelander. I'm having that fridge nightmare again. It's the glowing red eyes 🤦♀
I have every reason to believe that Antony Starr's casting as Homelander is the best casting of the decade. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of decent performances out there, but I haven't seen an actor commit to a role like this since Heath Ledger.
I knew he could be an intense guy. He has a good sense of humor. I’ve heard him joke around. I have a feeling he doesn’t mind talking about it but like anyone when he has to go on all these shows and answer the same questions it gets old. I just like that he doesn’t feel the need to smile just because he’s doing an interview. It seems like he’s just listening during the group chat.
This. To some people of the public this is the first time they’re hearing these questions asked but for him, it’s the 5th time he’s answered them this week. Shit gets old really fast if you don’t care about that side of the business. A lot of actors only care about the content itself and having fun while making it, the marketing and all that is just contract bs they feel obligated to do.
Well... he's not American. Not entirely sure about NZ, but in most countries it's not common for people to walk around smiling at strangers. A Russian friend told me, that Americans visiting Russia are deeply creeped out by the fact, that Russians won't randomly smile at people they don't know in public. They (US tourists) instantly suspect, that they're not welcome, but (although this may be true in certain cases) it's actually just the Russian mindset. Russians are very friendly and happy people in private, who will smile a lot once they've gotten to know you and feel like they can trust you with their emotions. It's just not common to waste personal feelings on strangers. We have a similar thing going on in my country. This exaggerated politeness, that makes you wag your tail at all sorts of randos is really just a thing in the Anglosphere - and I strongly suspect, that it's mostly the northern hemisphere, i.e. the US and the UK.
@@unterdessen8822 The majority of the world smiles I would say. The Middle East and Africa have it ingrained in their culture. That's already a huge chunk. Add on to that North America and South Asia and that's most people. I think it's the minority that are frugal with their smiles. Maybe like Japan and the colder parts of Europe? Russia is a massive place with many different cultures. The thing about behaviors like smiling is that they exist for a reason. Monkeys groom each other, humans smile. It's important for group cohesion. "It's just not common to waste personal feelings on strangers." I'm sure that's what the neanderthals said, being the bigger brained, stronger, but less social species. Funny how it all turned out in the end?
@@abdulkarimelnaas7595might sound a little racist at first but stick with me here. I firmly believe that's why there ends up being a lot of scammers around areas like that. It's just so common to see strangers smile at you that it becomes easy to use against you, you feel more comfortable (or less wary) with those that greet you like the masses do. Plus, high populace areas are like that pretty much globally I wouldn't say all of NA is that way but plenty of it is, and you'll find hella conmen in the United States
Nah you should be worried when homelander stops smiling , coz usually he puts up his front in front of public , meanwhile kent is usually depressed & holds back , you should be worried when he starts to enjoy 😂
He was arrested for bashing a chefs head in with beer bottle in a bar fight not too long ago over a random argument. And he said some random homelander ass shit too. Like really weird for a person to say in a fight. Either he is always somewhat in character or he is a psycho inside. I mean homelander is not too far off from his other show where he also is very unhinged.
When i was watching the show i thought if i was him i would act in character at some points in the interviews and press tours, that would be so funny and would get some attention. I think thats exactly what hes doing
Yeah, also I belivie it's prearranged that he acts a little like his character at times in those interviews. So people can joke and make memes about that. So I think a lot of those moments are just him acting, I'm at least 100% sure that the "who's most like their character" moment was combined in advance.
I heard that, in the pre perform, whatever it's called, they asked starr to send something like that, starr wasn't interested so he send them his actual normal behaviour and they took him in💀
When he's talking about laughing at the kid falling, or the guys getting sucked out of the airplane, it's important to remember that on set when there's wires, green screen, etc. the mood is much different. I remember doing a practical effects scene as part of a group project and it involved a head exploding. But when the fake head stuffed with stage blood and twisted ropes of clay blew up, just knowing what was all in it and how fundamentally ridiculous it is when you think about it, we all cracked up.
After the show wraps, Antony Start is probably gonna spendvthe next ten years doing nothing but family films and Disney channel shows just to aboid getting typecast as a psychopath.
No, really, wtf was that in the end. I think he knows about the memes, and from time to time intentionally plays Homelander on the interviews, just for funzies.
Interestingly enough, actors JK Simmons and Antony Starr have a naturally intimidating or uncomfortable presence. Antony here, and JK Simmons in Whiplash. And both take the roles of the two most popular evil-supermans of our time. Just something I found interesting.
Would be fkn beautiful if in one of these interviews, he'd just rip off his "Antony Starr" clothes, and would be wearing his actual Homelander uniform underneath. He'd then rip off his brown hair, revealing that it was a wig all along. Then he'd say _"This is the _*_real_*_ me"_ and everyone would say *"I fckin KNEW IT!"* That would be freakin epic, man. 🥺🥲💖
He just doesn't like interviews... It's not like he is thinking of better ways to spend his time... Like murdering everyone in the set or anything like that
this dude was so good as homelander i had to check him in banshee and omg banshee is like an underrated masterpiece highly recommend ppl to check it out the story is interesting it is about a con artist who after coming out of jail he becomes the sheriff of a small town
Bro, the fact they all called him out for being most like his character is wild. No surprise he committed assault against that restaurant dude a year ago
@@RavenaDivine Starr, 46, who was reportedly in the area shooting a film with Guy Ritchie, allegedly punched a 21-year-old Venezuelan man in the face twice during an altercation, resulting in the man being taken to hospital by ambulance. Starr also allegedly smashed a glass into the man's face after punching him.
@@stanpines9011yeah pal if you're a few drinks away from assault that's not normal, and hopefully you're not a successful actor either so you'll be in jail or a mental institution soon :)
I like the idea that Homelander is nearsided like Anthony Star but he wears contect lenses. Like the dude could snap your spine in half like a tooth pick but he cant see three feet in front of his face.
It’s honestly sad because he could just be chilling and someone could be fear by the way his chilled face looks because they’ll recognize him as Homelander
