This was the first cake I made for my family. I made it this past weekend and it turned out great. They didn't believe that I actually made it from scratch. Thanks, Carolyn. My family and I appreciate you. Keep the recipes coming!
I cooked this cake this morning to take to a gathering we had at the Kingdomhall it lasted about 10 minutes they loved this cake.thanks for the receipe
I made this cake twice for two parties OMG. I also made a blueberry sauce to drizzle on the slices. Was so delicious. I used a 12 cup bundt pan. I did a lemon light powdered sugar drizzle. Fabulous!
We have a similar cake in germany, but made with Fanta instead and a icing made of double cream and cream cheese, topped with orange slices -so good!! I love your Channel!!! Greetings from Germany!!
Hey Carolyn I want to say thanks. I followed the recipe step by step and my cake out very good! Thanks alot because I've been trying to bake a cake forever and this I can say is my very 1st cake ever made correct. Perfect recipe!
natalie jenkins Hey Natalie! I'm so glad I was able to help you Girl :) See, you can do it and it's going to open up the way for you to attempt other recipes :)
This is how you explain and demonstrate a recipe! She makes it easy to repeat and, yes, it is delicious (with or without a glaze). Thanks for the recipe.
I love how she explains the process in great detail and added important tips! Will be trying this recipe for someone tomorrow with a cream cheese glaze thank you!!
Carolyn I have started making your cakes. The sweet potato pound cake was loved by my customers during the holidays. Making cakes is something that I really enjoy. I really enjoy your instruction and history about cakes. I look forward to trying your other recipes. Happy New Year!
@mothertwinkles4198 Hey I certainly gotta to try it. I just now this morning stumbled up on these videos. And I can definitely say without hesitation I'm a New Subscriber 🎉😊
I just love you Carolyn!! I am learning how to make things that I loved as a child with out it being bought from the store.. Your videos are beyond great!
twinkeez2003 Hey Twinkeez!!! I hope you're doing well. You were one of the people that taught me how to rock a wig properly LOL. Thanks so much for watching and hangin' in there with me :D
I just wanted to tell you that you have one of the BEST LEMON POUND CAKE recipes that I never made I sell cakes and pies and everyone loves this recipe and yes it is the most lemon pound cake
Ms Carolyn...I used this recipe and my cake came out perfect. It tasted like my grandmother's cake. I am so happy I found your recipe. I was so tired of paying $50 and $60 for cakes. Now i.can make my own! God is good!! Thank you❤️
Hello I'm trying to get the 7Up recipe from Miss Carolyn you made comment that you made this cake before cuz you possibly tell me how many eggs and how much flour to use in this recipe
Great Video, It's been 15year since I've cooked a 7up cake. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Your Cake looks delicious. I'm gonna take it to another level by adding pineapple topping or lemon glaze to mine.
Thank you so much for this recipe. My cousin who was an excellent baker used to make a delicious pound cake. She recently passed away and nobody has her recipe. Hopefully this one can come close and make my family smile this holiday season. I can't wait to try it out!!!
I made this 7up cake, the chocolate sour cream cake w/chocolate ganache, the cheesy mac & cheese w/roasted garlic and the collard greens w/smoked turkey wings for Thanksgiving . I followed each recipe exactly, my family fell in love with it all, and demolished the cakes! Thank you Carolyn!!
Carolyn, I love your recipes. I would recommend using “cake goop” AKA pan release. No need for baking sprays or buttering and flouring pans. It’s real easy to make and I have been using cake goop for awhile now. Its equal amounts of AP flour, oil (I use vegetable oil), and shortening (vegetable) , and mix them together with a hand mixer until smooth, pour in a container (mason jar). I use 1/2 a cup for each ingredient. It last for months. I store my in the refrigerator to last longer. I use a pastry brush to apply the cake goop in the cake pans and apply to cracks and crevices. It works great on bundt pans and cleaning is a breeze. Hope you try it.
Great recipe and instructions!! I used my friend's fluted bundt pan that is from the early 60's and it's the best pan I've ever used. The classic pans (bundt, roasters, cake, skillets, etc.) have a superior quality that we don't have today. Also, you are right about not reducing the sugar. I think some people would be surprised at how much sugar is actually used in baked goods that we buy at the store.
U R my type of cook! U remind me of every down home cousin and auntie I have! I love the approach and the need 2 inform about those OLD SCHOOL BUNDT PANS! I kept my mamas old buddy pan around 4 sentimental value when she passed and got SMH from FOOD SNOBBY FRIENDS 4 not making an upgrade 2 a fancy NEW SCHOOL pan. Now I gotta comeback if they tell me 2 toss it! TY! :)
I really love the fact that you use a hand mixer. I'm new to baking and I don't own a stand mixer and I get frustrated when my batter doesn't look exactly like that of a stand mixer.
You made me remember a wonderful angel named Sylvia Jackson who would make this cake for us whenever we had a party! She passed away too soon, but I'll never forget her or this cake!
I’m not a baker and I’ve always wanted to make a pound cake. Got the courage to make this one yesterday. I turned out so good. Thank you so much Carolyn.
I have the same baking pan i got it from a commerical bakery that no longer had a need for them i paid 50 for each pan!!! i knew i struck gold those old pans as they are priceless and i baked the most beautiful pound cakes thanks Carolyn for sharing your talents.
I love 7 up pound cake I used love my grandmas cake when I was little.I haven't made an 7 up cake in an very long time.thank I am going to make one when the holidays come up. Or maybe before then
Ms. Carolyn!!! Everyone loved this cake for Mother's Day. Even my daughter that doesn't like pound cakes loved it. It was moist, didn't need glaze and it vanished. Thank you so much!!!
hey carolyn! love this pound cake and you're sooo absolutely right about the hand-me-downs whether it's cake pans, cast-iron skillets, pots, etc. it's always great to have them and treasure passing or sharing with each generation....thanks for sharing diva!
Carolyn I'm so happy I came across your channel about a year ago ! Since then I've found your recipes to be exact & very delicious but when you shared the awesomeness of the antique cake pans I nearly cried my aunt who past away a few yrs.ago was an amazing cook but especially a sho nuff old Skool baker had several antique pans & cookware unfortunately I didn't know the worth or sentimental value. My loss someone else's gain . But A lot of great memories with her before her health failed also she never had children but she was like a mother to me again thank you for sharing your recipes & passion for cooking with us!
Dang!! I know this is good. I plan to make it next week on my day off. My great-grandma made 7-up cakes at at cafeteria up North - whites only back then. Anyways, they begged her to come back after retirement. Long story, but the cake looks just like hers!!! My uncle is a baker for fun, so I'll share with him too. Good stuff.
Thank you Carolyn I’ve been making this cake for years. My stepfather made it better than me and I gave him the recipe. We were always in competition with this cake and I kept asking him what did he do differently but he would just giggle. He passed away in 2017 and never told me.. I really think it was the technique. I’m going to make this cake today and I’m gonna use your technique , you make it look so simple. Thank you so much.
This cake was DELICIOUS!!! 😋 Really enjoyed your video! When you were adding the 3 cups of sugar and said "We knew it was a dirty job when we took it," I laughed so hard I had to back up to see what I missed! 😄😆 Great info about the vintage baking pans, too. You have a new fan. 🤗💜
Carolyn, Thank you for the recipe and demo. I tried a similar 7up Pound Cake recipe a few years ago and it did not come out right. But, with your instructions and recipe my cake came out great. My Granny, Mom and sister loved it. Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work.
➡️RECIPE LINK | www.gdseasoning.com -THE NAME “POUND” CAKE got its name decades and decades ago because the recipe consisted of 1 pound of eggs, 1 pound of flour, 1 pound of butter, and yes 1 pound of SUGAR. So when you hear the name “Pound Cake” be aware that the recipe is based on that model recipe. I realize some of you may have a hard time with 3 cups of sugar, which is the standard IN GENERAL so here’s my suggestion, use 2-1/2 cups of Sugar. I do have other cake recipes that may be of interest to you, check out my BAKE SHOP VIDEO PLAYLIST bit.ly/1ShgPDI -WRITTEN RECIPE DOES HAVE A GLAZE ICING FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT, SO DON'T WORRY :D
My wife and daughter made this cake for me last night and man oh man! 7 up pound cake is my new favorite( replacing strawberry)! Thank you so much for this recipe and it will be a staple in our household. We hope you come out with a cookbook soon because it will be a definite buy!
Thanks Ms. Carolyn for your 7up pound cake recipe, my mom passed away and i lost her recipe. Using your recipe was so easy, my cake came out so good. I sliced me a piece, put strawberries, and cool whip on top. Thanks for taking me back to my old baking days with my mom. Thanks Carolyn Smith
Just wanted to say that I made your 7up pound cake recipe and your peach cobbler recipe and both turned out amazing! It was my first pound cake I ever attempted.I heard before hand that they were difficult to make which is why I waited so long to make one. I didn't do the 7up frosting only because it had a weird after taste that I didn't want chance putting on my finished pound cake. And I might invest in a larger bundt cake pan cause my fluted bundt pan couldn't handle most of the batter so I still have some uncooked cake batter left. But thanks for sharing this recipe. I will definitely make those two deserts again:)
nakea simone Sweetie I'm so glad I was able to help you make you first pound cake. I, like you, prefer the cake without icing. See, you did it and it wasn't as bad as they tried to make it out to be.
I just made this and omg it's sooo good! I didn't have an electronic mixer so i had to do everything manually, but it was worth the effort, this was one of the best things i've ever made in the kitchen!
Carolyn, I've been shopping RU-vid for pound cake recipes and when I heard you talk about "Swans Down" cake flour, saw that pan, and heard you say strong black coffee, I fell in love... My grandfather passed down the use of Swans Down for baking and I love, love, love a good cup of coffee...
Thanks for posting this highly demanded cake recipe. I went to a well known website that posted the recipe using cake mix (GASPS clutching my pearls ) Heaven to Betsy NO!!! 😊 Gotta try this as soon as I figure out what I'm cooking for dinner... I don't want my husband coming home to just cake 🎂😂😂😂
I know this video is several years old but it was my 1st by the gorgeous Miss Carolyn! Excellent video! I love my hand-me-down pans from my grandmother. Better than anything i have thats newer. Hope you are well lovely lady
Me and my husband made this and it was the best darn pound cake that I've ever had. So we made another one and I took it to work with some toppings (ice cream, strawberries, whip cream, bananas, and chopped peanuts) and everyone loved it! Thanks for the video Ms. Carolyn
Just followed your recipe and the cake is in the oven. I didn’t have any lemon extract so I used the zest of a lemon. Your recipe are a hit in my house.
Miss Carolyn I am a baker at heart and this cake was the bomb. My family loved it. I will be make more for Christmas. I used lemon extract instead of lemon juice like some recipes called for and it turned out awesome. Thanks for the recipe.
ok. when i saw the beat up cake pan, i knew i was in my rightful place! looks just like my Louisiana Momma's cake and such! And like Mom, you look beautiful and cook even better.
Hi Carolyn, I'm sooo glad you made this video I have tried to make 2 7up cakes and let me tell you I haven't baked a cake since. My feelings was hurt when I had to put them in the trash ( all them ingredients ) you have giving me hope and confidence to try it one more time. Thank you for the many recipes..
I had such success with your Red Velvet cake that I decided to try your 7up cake for Christmas. I'm a visual learner and usually bake with the video but your recipie's are so well written it wasn't necessary. Once again, outstanding results! I used my hand mixer, a fluted pan, baked for 1 hour and that top crust was beautiful. This cake was super moist and flavorful! It was enjoyed by all as was evident by the empty cake dish. Thanks Ms. Carolyn for sharing your gift of baking. Next I'm going to try your Lemon Cream Cheese pound cake :-)
While making this recipe I sat my brand new, opened, lemon extract on the sink only to knock it down the drain, smh. At least I did get enough for the recipe, lol. Thanks, Carolyn for an awesome recipe!!! :-)
This cake is so good! If you use (Cake Release) your pans will not get that brown build up and all you have to do is wipe it clean after you use it. My daughter in-law introduced me to the stuff and it is awesome. I don't have to spray or grease and flour my pans.
Nonny Brooks Yeah cake release is the same as buttering and flouting. It's oil with flour in the can. Also the way people have taken care of their pans plays a factor like you're doing
I made your 7-up pound cake 2 weeks ago and it came out just as you said. It was perfect, I will add it as one of my favorite cake recipe. You make cooking simple and enjoyable! Thanks for sharing.
OMG, I made this cake a few days ago. This is the best recipe for a 7 Up Pound Cake. May you be continued to be blessed to share. You also about to gain a new customer for your seasoning.
I just wanted to let you know that my mother went J.C. Fremont High School in L.A.(1977 graduate) and she has been looking off and on for the recipe for L.A.U.S.D. Old Fashioned Coffee Cake for years. She even call the school to try to get it! She has been talking about it forever! She was sooooo excited that she actually cried! No kidding! She says it brought back so many good childhood memories. Thank you for sharing and may God continue to bless you!
