Homemade automated panelsaw using a skilsaw. (Bosch GKS 190)
An Arduino Nano is used for the "automation".
Powerfeeding (winch) is done by a windshieldwiper motor.
oh, yes...and it was freakin cold on this day...
Minus 6 Celsius.. ^^

Hi, Raffy...First of all..Sry, for not making a detailed explanation video about this Saw and / or all my other homemade stuff. I dont have a propper video equipment at the moment, but this will change soon. Currently i am building my new workshop witch is also dedicated as my new youtube studio. (60 qm) My attention is, to start the channel in spring... I hope, i can achieve this goal. Maybe i do a quick overview video on that with my old camera, wich i used for this video. So stay tuned...

hello, i am trying to build the same thing, by the looks of it,the lift motor is only used to raise the saw unit and the cutting goes down using only gravity and the lift motor is releasing the pully slowly to control the lowering?? or is it another thing ? my question is, if i am right, is the saw unit weight is enough for consistent cut ? or may i have to think about something else to make a stepper motor controlling the movement along the vertical axis ?

Yes...you are right. The cutting action is done by gravity. The Whinch lifts the counterweight hidden inside a PVC pipe at the backside of the machine. Dont worry.... The circular saw + the carriage is definitely heavy enough to do the cutting.... Even in thick materials ( 40 mm Hardwood is no Problem). The complete carriage weighs about 25 kg. The counterweight is just a tiny bit heavier. So the whinch has no heavy lifting to do. I constructed it that way, because, the sawcarriage can also used by hand..... For very delicate cuts or partional cuts.. I have a video online, where i am explaning all of this in detail.
