Thanks. At times I can’t believe I managed to stick at it and see it completed. Took the best part of a year, including a few breaks while I figured things out or looked for parts.
@@tinkertime7165 Looking at this preview the set up you have is much better than a commercially available system, I am looking forward to seeing more detail, did you design it yourself? Chris B.
@@453421abcdefg12345 Thanks, another short video is just being uploaded. I looked around and tried to take the best features from many I saw, both home made and commercial, within my budget. Thanks for your comment. I will try to do a walk around soon.
Your comment made me smile. I guess its true to form, its a teaser! I will do a longer walk round and then I hope to start doing some regular milling videos since we are now getting into sawing season here in the UK. Should make some interesting watching. Thanks for your comment.
Yeah I was just getting into watching the video and I saw it approaching the limit switch and I was ready for next action. I was paying attention to the guide roller to see if it needed or had a lower roller as I've seen videos by Lumber Capital Log Yard and I know when they cut frozen logs the bandsaw drifts somewhat. Here in Aus we don't have freezers big enough to pre-freeze logs ;)
@@Alan_Hans__ Yeah, no lower roller. They are set about 1/4" (6mm) down from the bottom of the drive wheels. I have not had to saw frozen lumber yet so will find out if I do. I just found Lumber Capital Log Yard and have been binge watching them. I have three daughters also, not far from their ages, and am inspired by their work ethic. I've had the mill finished about 8 months now and have been learning as I go. Must say its very satisfying. Been a woodworker all my life and its nice to start right from the source with a tree.;-). The limit switch is a magnet so easy to move to the length of the log. I think you will like the mill when you see it.
