Thanks for sharing. I have looked at hundreds of designs for my home made processor. You are the best engineer by far.

I’ve been looking for the last few good ideas for my project and I must say the propane tank conversion is by far the best thing I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing!!

Good job! Enjoyed your explanation of how you built it. Lots of videos just show theirs in operation, some for 10 minutes! About a minute of splitting is enough for me to see how it works. Your style of building with what you have available is more like what I do. Thanks for taking the time to share.

I have watched tons of videos now on “home built firewood processor” and gotta agree with the comments. Simple design that would be cheap to replicate and works well without making all kinds of complicated parts. Well done!

Have you thought about adding a second winch on top of the overhead frame and a drop down ramp to use to grab logs from the pile and drag them up onto the processor? 😊
@onetrickypig

That was my original plan but the winch is pretty slow.

Nice! I like the idea of keeping it small. I can pull it up to the wood shoot to my basement. And run the hydraulics off of my bolens tractor

Lot of good ideas. The I-beam flexing will keep you honest and not let you tie it in a knot. 440's are good saws. Will bust a $1000 bill for a new one. No thanks. Mine was run dry and I got a buddy to put a piston and jug on it. Runs like factory. You ought to make a video of it running, the whole thing, that is. An old Ford power steering cooler or two might help on the hot oil, or maybe thicker oil. I use I.S.O.68 in mine. God job!

Thanks for the comment. I do have a video it running. I will make another video of it running with all my modifications soon.

What kind of a hydraulic valve is that? Do you have a make and model? -You've done a great job of making a simple yet fast processor... Well done.

Please don't forget to keep the system at the gpm of the pump Otherwise what ever the lowest gpm component in your system is what the whole system will be restricted down to . If possible buy components one level bigger and maybe upgrade your pump later. I was taught to help avoid over heating the hydraulic tank, capacity should be twice the gpm of the pump . Another idea is to use a small radiator with computer fans to move the air through . Remember these aren't meant to be out in all kinds of weather.

Hey brother, great job, thanks for the info. How much did you end up spending for the various components? I have an old boat trailer that I want to do something very similar with for a school project. I have a budget so I am trying to get an idea.

I really don't remember the exact cost. If i had to guess i would say it was around 1,200 not counting the saw.
