@@AutismusPrime69The stone itself is, ya know, a stone. He's saying that the opal parts peeking thru looks really good with the contrast to the normal stone
There's something magical about seeing even the small bits of opal on the first half. If there was only that much poking through all of it, it would've still been spectacular, but with that final bit that just ekploded in colour, it tipped it over the edge into beyond beautiful
great video! Compelling with the tension about getting the “right” amount of opal, good presentation of techniques, great narration and script, and very very pleasing watch. I can see this channel getting big. Very good work, you should feel really encouraged. :)
Thank you very much. I feel like that vid felt a little rushed but I really wanted to show the overview of the process and not have it be too long. I do feel encouraged.
I think editing should be a subtractive process. You pared the video down into something very precise and concise. You gotta leave out the parts that people skip.
@@hedronrockworks Do you ever go to the Tucson gem show? I highly recommend it. Also... how much do you sell these for? These are insane. I'm also kind of up to developing my own content creation around this idea that life should actually have more "real" magic in it. To me, this is an example of what I mean by "real" magic. I.e. you took something beautiful, ancient and natural, and then harmonized it with the perfection of form, while showing off the beauty of the imperfection of nature.
Just binged your channel backwards. I hope to see more from you! These are beautiful. And i like that they are functional, too. Like, a lot of large gemstones just turn into very expensive paperweights, imo, so this is really cool to me.
When people say "binged", they normally mean "I just watched dozens or hundreds of your videos". But in this case... I don't think "binged" is the right word.
This was awesome, I watched the amethyst one and then thought to check out one more, I couldn't believe it ended up being boulder opal! They are a really challenging stone and so messy, but they are my favorite! I pretty work exclusively in boulder opal, they just have so much going on, I usually spend a lot of time chasing the color with free form shapes, it was really cool to see faceting applied to it, this kind can be a little crumbly too, glad to didn't run into that.
I so enjoy your videos. It is one thing to be a technician, another to be an artist, but it is your delivery makes you such a great teacher and that is a true gift. Thank you for sharing with us!
“If you like what you see and are still here, consider subscribing” as if I’m not already invested in your life story and the final product of this beautiful process! Also, thanks for going over the sandblasting step. I came over from your amethyst video and was wondering about the process you used
going into all the details of how you do it is definitely a plus for me, thanks! this one makes me think of the universe for some reason, i like how it turned out
This is incredible, I’m so happy that I found your channel! I’m going to watch the rest of your videos on this flight and eagerly wait for a new one. Great work!!
Absolutely fabulous. You have the patience, which is key to not getting discouraged. You go with the flow. Mistakes can turn into BETTER POSSIBILITIES.
I have now watched all of your videos and have subscribed! these videos are so interesting and the finished dice are beautiful! I cant wait for more of your videos
As a person who loves handcrafting of all kinds (some of them as my proffetion/trade) and a neardy person i love this soooo much! ...... 100x Subscribed from here on out ^^
I love how in this vid you go into more detail about the different steps of making the dice, compared to the latest videos (though I do still enjoy them)
This is awesome, I love your work. I’m hoping to see a longer, more in depth video on the process at some point. It’s so fascinating to see how you make your dice
This is amazing! Can we get an equipment breakdown video? A way we could do this ourselves maybe? How did you get into making gem die. You're work is beautiful keep up the amazing work.
This is a great idea. I did something like this on my Instagram about year ago, it’s till up if you want to find that. I should make something for RU-vid. Thanks
Beautiful! And also, i really like your narrative style. The calm, let it take time-attitude fits so well with the precise cutting. Watching this is relaxing and almost like meditation.
those dice are so gorgeous, amazing work you are doing, i hope your channel explodes and reaches the million subs ! im sure it will if you keep on uploading those masterpieces.
This was good to see the process with the explanation. I do find it really relaxing to watch with the music on the other vids, but this made the process a bit more understandable.
Ok, I saw your amethyst video which was a delight. Then randomly I got this in my recommendation and I was like oh shot this is cool. And now I’m obsessed with your channel. Can’t wait to see more! Subscribed now before it keeps suggesting more that I’ll obviously come back too. Lol
I have to say I am very impressed with the amount of opal even on the first side. 20/20 for beauty and originality!! You rolled a 20 with your vorpal blade and off with his head!!😂😂 Awesome job!!👍👍😁
Seriosuly inspiring stuff. The opal on the second side you cut came out swinging. My god. I cant wait to see what i can do. I hope i can find plenty of info on how to do this somehwere online or in a book
@@twatmunro completely understandable, and I agree. If you are not a table top player, then these may not be a purchase you want to make. It is the same as buying a piece of art from someone. luckily, this piece of art can be used
I am a big fan of your videos. Calming, creative, and the product is beautiful! Have you ever thought about doing Malachite? One of my favorite types of stone, live the swirls of greens.
This is so cool! I love the opal, I didn't realize it could manifest like that in a rock, it helps me visualize a current character from Critical Role who's an Earth Genasi with some opal on their head
Have you made any sets? (d4-d6-d8-d10-d12d20)? I have had dreams of owning a set of gemstone dice. Your work is amazing. I would love to see you use obsidian or ivory for a set if you have not tried already.
Very beautiful. Make's me remember playing Warhammer when I was young. The only thing though is the paint for the numbers... I don't know if it is the kind of paint you use or the technique, but there are some cracks and missing parts... And when something is so beautifuly made. Imperfection show more...
Beautiful and relaxing! I don't still get it the dice / number thing. You could use some enticing glyph, fractals or some other mysterious symbols than arabic numbers. Leters in hindi that leat to a bhagavad gita sentence when collecting the stones?
Super cool! 3 questions: *How long does it take from start to finish in terms of work-hours?* *Is there a way to measure the dice for weight distribution, to ensure that there isn't some imbalance ("loaded dice") due to variances inside the stones?"* and *What would you charge for custom dice?*
Wow, your dice look simply amazing! I have a question: Have you ever run statistics on your dice? With the stones being a natural product they won't have a perfectly homogeneous density, and I wonder if that effect is big enough to be measured in the rolled outcomes.
I hope in future videos you could provide more footage of the end product. Maybe different angles or shots of it in your hand. I love the spin but i wish there was more, great video nonetheless
Do you purchase synthetic/lab-grown stones wherever possible? If so, where do you get them from? I have qualms about the gemstone mining industry, but think this would be a cool hobby to get into someday.
