Thanks to JLCPCB for supporting this video.
Fast and easy. Just an example on how you could send data wireless using IR light. In this case we send 8 bits for each button. The phototransisotrs will allow current to pass or not when it receives IR light. You have all the schematics and codes here. Enjoy!

Now this is great for anyone who wants to build anything from home automation to big machines in factories with a little more knowledge about relays and Arduino Great video Cheers

It's always good fun to design things from scratch but the cheap commercial remote you have there and don't understand is very well documented and there are libraries written to support it. If you use the libraries you can make an IR transmit/receive with much less effort because so much of the work is already done for you. Check out IRremoteESP8266 for the ESP chip, there's an equivalent for the arduino but I've never needed to use it.

I'm in the process of building a Remote to control my whole entertainment center. Store bought universal remotes can only do so much and attend to map buttons in odd locations. When it is all said and done it will work like a Control4 remote system.

Very nice video. I found ir to have issues with remote control stuff where the vehicle goes behind something. Bluetooth is better for remote control vehicles I think. But, ir is great for line of sight stuff. I suppose everyone knows this. Great project, really enjoy your videos!!

for the serial communication, i'm sure some arduino required total of 11 bits where the 10th bit is the don't care bit. i notice that when i was bit banging the UART protocol with an attiny tx to a nano clone rx

I think you should make a universal RFID card (program the codes and use it to unlock doors etc.). Just for 125kHz though, to keep it simple.

I just discovered you and I would have two important questions. Can I get the result you got by connecting the infrared and the photoresistor separately to the arduino as at 4:00? I do not want to use infrared module as per my project ... or if I use TCRT5000 by separating it? or if you have a similar solution, can you offer it? I researched but I couldn't find any results ... I am asking to make sure it will be the same ..

Hi electronoob, can this circuit simulate "holding the button down". Use case is for a speaker which does not have a remote, when u want it to turn on u push the power button for like 3 seconds and it will turn on. I would like to have a remote so i can turn it on from a distance. Also whats the power draw of the IR receiver cause i need to have it always on?

Hello Sir! can you help me. I have an idea of running a motor of 5v with rpm 50 with arduino uno. The concept is to design such a circuit and remote that works such,,,, when i Pressing one button the motor revolve in one direction and when i pressing the other the motor change its direction of rotation. I use this for closing and opening of door with remote pleas help me with an idea... thank you so much.

you didn't use any library in the case of transmitter. did you set the TX to transmit at 38kHz frequency? because at that frequency only the ir remotes work right?
@ELECTRONOOBS
@ELECTRONOOBS 6 лет назад
No, the communication is UART at 300 bauds. It doesn't work likt the 38KHz one...

Sorry for the critique but your EE knowledge is quite bad. So many mistakes... You could have just taken a moment to read the datasheet for VS1839 and you would know that it's output is not modulated, its DEmodulated from 38khz transmitter frequency. Also you could have googled for like 1 minute and would have known how to decode the output of your IR remote, bits are encoded in impulse width (after demodulation). And last but not least you could have read about why 30-50khz modulation is used in all IR transmitters used in virtually all manufactured devices and then you wouldn't have made your own circuit that was doomed to

Your video is awesome as always but If I want to use Tsop 1838 instead of using Phototransistor then is it work with this same code??? If not then how did I use vs1838 with this project???
@Ziplock9000
@Ziplock9000 6 лет назад
It works quite differently because the 1838 uses a carrier wave and modulation to send/receive whereas the project in this video uses raw IR signals. The 1838 is better for IR remote controls and modulated signals is what the industry uses. There's an arduino library called IRremote.h that will do the encoding/decoding for you. arduinomodules.info/ky-022-infrared-receiver-module/
