The most important ingredient is the cat for the quality control!

When I make leather goods he is almost always present and follows every phase with great interest. When I cut the leather the first scrap is always from him, he bites it and plays with it for a long time. "Bombo" thanks you for your kind comment (and so do I).

How well does this work with suede? Looking to make a pair of moccasins and thought about waterproofing them

I'm sorry but I can't help you, I don't use suede and therefore I have no references about it. You can try making a small amount and testing it on a sample.

Hello. Firstly thank you for the awesome tips on this video! Is it possible to just use beeswax and VCO? Dont have any almond oil at hand
@LTMS
@LTMS 3 месяца назад
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. I think with just vco it's fine, the only thing that might change is the density of the final product as coconut oil is solid if it's not very hot and might be a little more difficult to spread on the leather. Where I live, almond oil is easily available in any herbalist or shop that sells skin care products, sometimes you can also find it in the supermarket on the beauty product shelves, try taking a look.

May I ask, how much should I put if I were to include lanolin?
@LTMS
@LTMS 11 месяцев назад
I know it is used in the production of shoe polish, but I prefer not to use it. Lanolin is mainly used in skin care products for its property of absorbing water and emulsifying it with oils in order to keep the skin hydrated. A leather conditioner should protect the leather from water while keeping it supple and nourished.

I used to apply raw beeswax on the leather and then use a hair dryer to melt it. Do you think that’s a good idea?
@LTMS
@LTMS 4 месяца назад
Beeswax is very compact, which is why it should always be mixed with oils before use. If your method works, use it, even if it seems very time consuming to me. If you heat the beeswax just once to make the conditioner, you will have an easy-to-apply product.

Does it harm my cars leather when parked under sunlight and please I'd like to know the exact amount t of each ingredient
@LTMS
@LTMS 2 месяца назад
in the video it is clearly explained that 1 part beeswax, 1 part coconut oil and 2 parts almond oil are used. This means that if you use 10 grams of beeswax you will need to use 10 grams of coconut oil and 20 grams of almond oil, if you use one ounce of beeswax you will need one ounce of coconut oil and 2 ounces of oil of almonds and so on... I used the parts on purpose. I use the conditioner for wallets, notebooks and small leather goods, never used for car seats that sit in the sun all day.

Can I use it for car seats?.
@LTMS
@LTMS 7 месяцев назад
Yes you can. Personally, for the car seats I would use neatsfoot oil because the surface of the seats is very large and it would cost a lot with the conditioner. Neat's foot oil is very convenient and is absorbed well within a few hours.

Palm oil doesn't go rancid, but I have no idea if that would be okay. You can try putting it on a small scrap of leather and see how it behaves over time, but I've never heard anything about its use in leather working.

Of course yes, if you need to nourish the leather of your boots. If you abuse them in water and mud then also use some more specific product to make them waterproof.

No, coconut oil does not go rancid and can also be used to treat wooden cutting boards and spoons. Cold-pressed almond oil is used in most skin care products and that also keeps very well.

@LTMS how do they not go rancid? I looked it up and they should go rancid, is it because of the beeswax? Also i read that you can increase shelf life by a couple years if you add vitamin E (it acts as preservative)
