The Best Homemade Pita Bread Recipe I've Ever Made!
Ingredients:
- 6g instant dry yeast (0.2 oz)
- 1tsp sugar
- 310-340g all purpose flour (11-12 oz)
- 190ml warm water (6.5 fl oz)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- a little cooking oil
Step by step:
1. Mix the yeast, sugar, a little flour and warm water.
2. Stir until smooth and leave in a warm place until bubbling, about 10 minutes.
3. Add the remaining flour and salt.
4. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
5. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
6. Cover with a towel and let stand for 10 minutes.
7. Knead again until a smooth and elastic dough is formed.
8. Transfer the dough to a clean bowl greased with vegetable oil.
9. Cover the dough and leave it in a warm place for about 1 hour.
10. Punch down the risen dough and turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
11. Divide into 4 equal portions and form into balls.
12. Cover with a towel and let the dough balls rest for 10 minutes.
13. On a lightly floured surface, roll each into a 6-inch (15 cm) diameter circle.
14. Cook over medium-low heat.
15. Fry one side first until golden. Then fry the other side.
