Homemade Ring roller bender 

I just found this guy and I love him. He is so creative and will be a resource for me as I learn to fabricate myself.

This guy is Super man in his work(in welding) accuracy!

nice compact design, one thing i would change tho is that the hand crank should be on the other side and be bigger, that way it would be easier to place and remove the materials and require less strength to turn it

The only improvements possible on such a solid simple design would be make one or more larger crank wheels to afford more leverage when turning and weld on a wing nut style tab on the bolt at the back creating the bending point so it can be turned by hand. With these modifications this would be a no other tools required system for pipe bending. Great idea overall!

Yes, as previously stated, you need to groove the wheels to assist in keeping the rod or tubing in position. And anything to assist in turning the bender will always be welcomed as well. But nicely thought out and constructed. Thumbs Up!

Those shock shafts are a good idea fo sliding and no resistance. Best simple design with good tight tolerance for it to work correctly ive seen online. Been looking for a week for a good design. Thx

Great video and good compact build, i guess the hand well makes more sense on the other side but as you will not bend huge pipes on that is good like that.

Well done! Only thing I can suggest is bigger hand wheel as others have suggested, and see if you can put a knurl on the drive wheel. It'll help get traction on things you're rolling. :)

Just come across this little build . Only had a look at the first 10 or so comments and yup I agree on the one for a concave wheel for round stock . Must say though it's a nice small well built tool ideal for the smaller gauge metals . My only improvements would be a bigger wheel for a bit more ease and possible bearing covers with a groove in them and a set with shoulders so flat stock doesn't wander .well built .thanks for sharing the build .

Brilliant work.

You should tighten the tool rest on your lathe. It was jumping quite a bit. The only thing I would have done differently is either a larger turning wheel for leverage or I would have geared it for more leverage. Perhaps even grooved wheels for rod and tube

Damn that's a cool looking bender.. only 1 thing.. Make the red circle bigger , for easy bending force. Is ok as it is right now too.. but a bit bigger will help you use it easily.

Very nice skill set you got there, how ever few things i noticed. Bigger or geared operating wheel would give much more power. Your lower end bearing A wont last long it being normal ball bearing far as i see (ball bearing are great for axial loads, but suck with linear loads) and B its being hold in place by cups bended edges and will just pop out when bending stiffer materials. Essentially it should be placed on other side of the base material, so cup just holds it in place and real pull is going to base plate, not holders edges. Make different grooved wheels to hold round bars and flat bars on side ways etc. You could make similar removable operating wheel as in cars rally steering wheels center, heck maybe could just use one on this purpose, or make one as you have lathe and grinders. Also tighten your lathes tool holder to get better surface finish and its safety concern anyways..

Really nice creativity, with a few differences with other benders you can find on RU-vid. I’m not a big fan of water spraying when welding though but the result is fine. I would definitely use a long handle and not a wheel , to give a way greater torque And what about adding some gauge to Fine tune the bending radius, and make reliable and identical iterations Nice job ! 👍🏽👍🏿

nice one, only things i can think of are minor 1 sort ya tool post out, 2 i would make hand wheel centre longer so it could be a sleeve over bearing that way the hand wheel weld can b done without cooling and would only need few tacks of weld at rear to hold it , infact make it a tight fit prob woulnt need any weld, 3 hand adjustment on hiring/lowering to avoid the need for socket/spanner, thats b

for the lower rollers flat rollers for flat stock slightly concave rollers for round stock

I like it the only thing I would’ve done is machine a v channel on another set of bearings for the tubing to run along

One improvement would be: Prime before paint Another would be a heavier thicker base and the turning wheel should be at least twice as big and also heavier to make the bending process nearly effortless

Buena idea. Y si de consejo en vez del volante para la rodaja de arriba le adaptas 1 dado y le das transmicion con el taladro inalambrico avansarias mas rapido. Es mi aporte. Saludos

Antes que nada muy ingeniosa su máquina que inventó,.muy buena, ahora una observación cuando solda o solo pincha en este caso ,no se le aplica agua para enfriar ya qué con el cambio violento de temperatura la soldadura se triza,segundo no le encontré el sentido de hacerle hilo interno al buje qué se desplaza en el eje, gracias , saludos ,,

beautiful. improvements? maybe in the center of tye handwheel an extra welded nut so you can put a battery powered handdrill on it on slow speed. but, if you are not as lazy as me, your project is already perfect 😁
