Making sports throwing knives use car leaf spring
A throwing knife is a knife that is specially designed and weighted so that it can be thrown effectively. They are a distinct category from ordinary knives.
Throwing knives are used by many cultures around the world, and as such different tactics for throwing them have been developed, as have different shapes and forms of throwing knife.
Throwing knives are also used in sport

Nice video, spring steel of the right thickness is hard to find and expensive so this is a great way to go. A similar set of 3 knives from Acejet would cost over 200 pounds. lol

I submit that “wurk” ain’t necessarily a bad thing. Love is even more demanding, and that ain’t necessarily I bad thing either. Our culture treats both cheaply. And $$$ ain’t everything either. What a pleasure to watch, I submit. I think I’d much more want to meet and throw with somebody like this who can exercise this rare talent than a Bud who just pulled a purchase from Amazon! Most of us just don’t have the talent, skills, tools and money to do this, eh? Good work, my friend! Don Manos

This is by far the simplest way to make a knife, instead of forging, just use a leaf spring or just buy a flat bar with the correct width and thickness then hardening and annealing

If you struggle to find good steel or can't use this leaf spring method, flat pry bars are a cheap source of nice carbon steel you can use if you heat treat them the same way as this.

AND REMEMBER ONLY THE TIP HAS TO BE SHARP ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OF IT ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OF IT ON EACH SIDE. THAT'S USUALLY THE MOST WILL GO IN FOR MOST THROWS OTHER THAN THAT IT COULD BE USED AS A SURVIVAL OR CAMPING TOOL DUAL PURPOSE . AND YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR THROWING KNIVES AT LEAST 9 MIN -15" INCHES GOOD TUTORIAL BY THE WAY

Dude you are a man of extrordinary talent what do you think it cost to make those 3 knives. $35,000???? You"re obviously an engineer or some type of highly skilled person.And the freehand drawing too on the knives. Now I may say architech!! Dont dare say you put groceries in bags at the market. You have NASA capabilities.

Never seen anyone use vegetable oil. Thought the carbon in "used motor oil" is what is needed to harden
@admin8446
@admin8446 3 года назад
Carbon in the steel grain is what hardens the steel. Carbon from outside the steel hardly penetrates a few microns. That process is called "case hardening" -- a whole different process.
@joshmajor8662
@joshmajor8662 3 года назад
I use veg oil personally on everything from blades to hammers to chisels, you name it!! Plus you get a much cleaner finish after quenching. The only thing he did “wrong” was not quenching with movement, you should quench and continue slight movements until the steak is around it below 800 degrees. You’ll know your there when you still have eyebrows after removing from oil lol

Regular charcoal works way better. A stronger fan would have helped too or directing that one down a tunnel. Then again your not forging the blades as much.

two questions: 1. what's the point of burning the knives and then putting them in oil? 2. When u put the knife in salted water are you electrifying them in water? I don't understand why electrifying them can cause the paper design to be burnt onto the knives..
@felixzeto6300
@felixzeto6300 3 года назад
1. To heat treat the knives so they become more durable 2. For decoration
@citiuseternity1292
@citiuseternity1292 3 года назад
1. Its called quenching. To harden the blade. 2. Its electrolysis. Basically the exposed surface of the steel dissolves in the saltwater and leaves etching marks on the knife.

Charcoal is not an effective fuel, not cheap, just for RU-vid Dream Team Video SquarePants to play Blacksmith on weekends. In grinding belts and wheels,fuel electric power and sandpaper, you just could buy tool steel . You are wasting resources consulting with a real Blacksmith first saving time. Why shape throwing knives like steak knives Thumbs down because of contents bad practices
