This is how I process turkey feathers into homemade Fletching. The quills are hand sanded then cut to shape with scissors. Then a homemade Fletching jig is used to attach the feathers to the arrow shaft.
I harvested my first turkey this spring using a bow and arrow. I hate throwing those beautiful feathers away and I was looking for a project that I could do to utilize them. This is the perfect idea! I’d love to hunt using turkey feather arrows.
Brother, get yourself an exacto knife or a box cutter. A small belt sander if you can afford it. Thanks for sharing your process. I really liked your fletching jig
Sweet! Just a tip the feathers youre using are the really thin kind of floppy ones you really want to use the first maybe 6 feathers on the turkey wing then trash the rest. They're alot thicker and stronger
