This is how I process turkey feathers into homemade Fletching. The quills are hand sanded then cut to shape with scissors. Then a homemade Fletching jig is used to attach the feathers to the arrow shaft.

Im glad i watched this video, thanks for making it. I like making my own arrows and was wondering how to make a jig for long fletchings.

I harvested my first turkey this spring using a bow and arrow. I hate throwing those beautiful feathers away and I was looking for a project that I could do to utilize them. This is the perfect idea! I’d love to hunt using turkey feather arrows.

Brother, get yourself an exacto knife or a box cutter. A small belt sander if you can afford it. Thanks for sharing your process. I really liked your fletching jig

Very nicely done. I like your simplistic approach and the fact that you didn't use power tools.

Sweet! Just a tip the feathers youre using are the really thin kind of floppy ones you really want to use the first maybe 6 feathers on the turkey wing then trash the rest. They're alot thicker and stronger

This is true....These feathers were ones that I find while walking in the woods...were not from a turkey kill.

What is that piece called that you have the feather in as you sand it?
@americanplayscapes
@americanplayscapes Год назад
Not sure what to call it...it is just a clamp I made by bending a piece of metal roof flashing..to hold the feather without damaging it.

I just used a piece of tin and folded it then sandwiched it between sticks of wood. Used metal roof flashing.
