One of the reasons I LOVE watching RU-vid tutorials is because of young ladies like YOU who inspire my hair creativity! Thank you so much dear!💕

My last relaxer was May 11,2013. I cut off the rest of my relaxed hair that didn't fall out on May 11, 2014. This year I plan to get my hair flat ironed and my ends trimmed. My hair is the healthiest it has been in 33 years. Thank you for the informative videos.

I am the youngest of 3 girls and saw my sisters get relaxers. Wanting to be like my older sisters I decided I wanted one too. Just like both my sisters my mom took me to get my first relaxer before my first day of 6th grade. I loved it my hair was full and to my mid back. But my hair quickly started breaking off. I only had a relaxer for a year before I decided I wanted my natural hair back. In 7th grade I started transitioning. Now I'm a junior in high school and continue to LOVE my hair. My hair is finally back to where it was when I was younger. Thank you for your videos. I have a very similar hair type and have officially mastered my wash and go because of you!

I'm officially one year into my natural hair journey! :) I big chopped on Jan. 26 2014. My hair would barely come under my ears and I was very uncomfortable, but after watching your videos and a few other RU-vidr's videos, I was ready to rock my fro. I've had ups and downs with my hair. Breakage, split ends, and more. But now my hair is under my collar bone, and healthier than it has ever been before. I also dealt with negative remarks from my family about my hair being "out of control". It hurts but I keep moving forward with my journey. I actually find that I am more confident now than I was with relaxed hair. I was a twist out and braid out girl but I achieved my first successful wash and go using your method with the Shea moisture gel soufflé. So that's probably what I'll do from now on because it's so fast and easy. You're an inspiration! Keep up the hard work. Love your channel and your hair. :)

Hi, April Bee . I have been transitioning for about a year after being relaxed since the age of 2. Although I took a break from relaxers for about a year, I eventually worked my way back to the creamy crack. It was the only way I felt beautiful. I allowed my hair to be damaged with chemicals and heat before I saw the damage it was doing inside and out. Despite having not cut my ends off yet, I plan to do so soon. This year has been so joyous and beautiful. I have finally found myself and who I want to be. Even though reception hasn't been totally positive, it's RU-vidrs like you.who show me it's worthwhile. Thank you for giving me a platform to share. Keep up .the good work. God bless!!

I did my big chop on March 22, 2012 so I'm 100% natural and will soon celebrate my 2 Year Anniversary. My journey has been great and I can honesty say I have no complaints about my natural hair. I love my hair!!

I have been natural for a little over 3 years(last relaxer 9/16/11). I said I would never return natural. I didn't think I could manage it, plus I preferred my straight hair. Well, I found out I was pregnant and wanted to stretch my relaxed to avoid chemicals during my 1st trimester. My sister gave me tips and encouraged me and to my surprise, I enjoyed getting to know my hair. I did mini chops while I transitioned. I did my final mini chop a few days shy of my 2 year anniversary (of my last relaxed). Looking back, I wish I had big chopped so that I could have enjoyed all the stages of my hair journey and avoided some unnecessary hear damage. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

I've been natural for 6 months now. I'm 11 months post relaxer. I big chopped a few weeks before I began my senior year in high school. I've been getting my hair relaxed since I was about 3 years old because my mother got tired of doing my hair. From 8th-11th grade I cut my hair twice and colored it about 3 times. My hair was damaged and I've always wanted to return to being natural so I figured it was the perfect time. I did braid outs while I transitioned for 5 months. One night after work, I got so frustrated with my hair that I just sat in front of the mirror and cut it off. For the past 6 months I've been trying different products and styles to see what works for me. I've found a regimen that works and I have fallen in love my natural hair 💚

I have been natural since march of 2013. I big chopped only after 3 months of transitioning. It took awhile for me to adjust but I soon fell in love with my natural hair. It has been a challenging journey so far with learning what really works for my hair but I'm enjoying it! Watching individuals like yourself has been a huge inspiration!

I am currently transitioning to natural. I have been following you since your relaxed days and you inspired me to start my relaxed hair journey. I supported your transition to natural and I am now ready to go natural. I am 9 months post and I don't miss relaxers at all. Thank you for staying true to yourself and sharing your journey with us because it really does inspire and make a difference in someone's life. I now have the courage to embrace my natural texture.

You've inspired my natural hair journey. When I wanted to grow out my relaxed hair I found your video talking about the whole "relaxed hair can't grow" topic, since them I've watched every one of your vids. When you went natural I followed in your footsteps and did the same. Your my inspiration and with your healthy hair tips I've grown my natural hair to collar bone length in two short years. Thanks for all the inspiration!

I have started my hair journey may 2014...i am transitioning from relaxed to natural. Goal is to have strong and healthy hair. I am currently bsl . i love your videos. Very inspiring and keeps me motivated....everything i do to my hair i'm care, big goddess braids and plats and buns all year....nothing else. Moisturizer and seal. Deep conditioning, co washes. And treatments. Wash day every 2weeks on an Saturday. Notice my hair growing strong. Not much breakage!!!😊 a very big goal. And also a tea bag rinse once a month with the earl gray tea...helps against breakage....so far i'm loving the natural hair and my curls. It's amazing@Aprilbee the inspiration that you hair divas give and show us. I appreciate it a lot. Now i'm just working on my #teamnatural shirt😃

I've been natural for almost 5 years and I'm still figuring my type 4 hair out. My now husband and I grabbed some scissors back in 2010 and it was the best decision I have ever made. This year I'm challenging myself to grow my hair out beacuase I'm very scissor happy. I go through phases but that's okay beacuase natural hair gives the versatility I've always wanted. Right now I LIVE for fluffly big undefined kinks.

I've been natural for 3 1/2 years, and I'm loving my journey thus far. I big chopped in July 2011 with only about 3-4 inches of hair. I wouldn't trade being natural for the world! There so much versatility with natural hair - twist outs, bantu-knot outs, blow outs, you can straighten it. #ilovenaturalhair

Omg I love this. I have been on a hair journey for a while now. maybe 4 years after I watched hair videos like yours and many others it made me wanted to care for my hair even more. so I bought all the natural oils and I started doing protective styles and little to no heat. I have my hair in individual braids, but continue to care for it so I wouldn't get the dry damaged hair. I also went as far as in to not relax my hair a lot. I reached my goal last year of only relaxing my hair once. as of 2015 I have not relaxed it. ever since I been taking care of my hair I have seen a lot of growth.

Hey April! I've been natural/ transitioning since January of last year, which makes this my one year mark. It definitely hasn't been an easy journey. Regardless, I've loved learning how to take care of my hair. I used to get perms up until last year and my hair was in terrible condition. I decided it was fine to have healthy hair so I cut off the damaged hair and began my journey. At first I hated it. I didn't know what to do with my hair or even how to take care of my kind of hair. I started reading and watching naturals on RU-vid. It had been such a huge help. Now my hair is growing so much healthier. It's so versatile. I've learned more in this one year about my hair than I've learned in my entire 19 years. I'm not getting the grow I would like but that's not what going natural is about. It's about healthy hair and learning to love my natural state. I loved your video! Every time I watch natural make their own products or do new style I'm inspired to get going. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Hi, April, I have been natural since February 2012. I am now almost three years in the game! I big chopped in June of 2012, and my hair has been growing non stop since I have big chopped. I try to keep my hair in plenty of protective styles to keep it growing and strong. Currently my favorite is crochet braids because it is so easy to maintain especially with me being in school and working! This mixture looks great and I hope that I am selected to receive this product!

Well I recently jan 10th to be exact was in a horrible fire, I was going to blow my candle out and my hair caught on fire leaving my scalp burned also leaving me w severe second degree burns on my face ears and neck! I am blessed to still be here, so w that being said of course I had to cut all my hair off and I've always had long hair, so I am very new to all this loc method and deep conditioning etc bc I had been blessed to have nice hair but unfortunately I was in that accident and it took for me to go thru that to understand it's just hair and it will grow back, and I'm blessed to be healing up fine! So Ive been watching you vids to help me in my new journey and I'm happy to have found you!

Great video. I big chopped in '13 and I've been natural for almost 2yrs now. I'm in a hair style rut and my hair as hit an awkward length so now none of my twist outs and braid outs look good. Now I've just been doing wash n go's and it definitely made life easier. Being natural was the best choice I could have ever made. I no longer have to waste money at the salon, home kits, roller sets each week, constant flat ironing and blow drying. I've saved so much time and money. However I do have permanent scalp damage from relaxers. Now, I do have hair in those areas and it's just as thick but it's the main areas that itches and acts up if I use something my scalp doesn't like.

I was relaxed my whole life. My hair was always thin and brittle... It was never healthy. Then something told me that I needed a change. I was wearing weave to cover up my hair, when I really wanted my own hair to be healthy. I transitioned for a few months...On August 15th of 2014 I big chopped and I couldn't be more happier with my hair. I felt the urge to big chop on a Sunday. The following weekend I was in someone's salon having my hair cut! I love being able to touch my own hair. I really am happy to be natural. :)

At the age of 5, my mother who is a licensed cosmetologist, gave me a texturizer, and my shrinkage stretched from shoulder length to waist length. Then, I got my first relaxer at 8 years old. Over the years my hair grew to be so long. The last time I got my hair relaxed, I was 14. I transitioned back to natural for two years, and throughout the course of those two years, I got trims every so often. Now I am fully natural and loving it, since 2010. I am now 19 years old. I do my own hair for the most part. When I get it flat-ironed, my cousin does that.

I went natural about two and a half years ago. This year I had to do a second big chop because of damage from coloring my hair. I was devastated to lose my length. But I realized it was more about health than length. My hair is now growing back stronger and more beautiful than ever. I think this second journey has helped me to fall in love with my hair and essentially myself again. :-)

I transitioned for 18 months and your chanel was like my inspirtation for me throughout my entire hair journey, it still is and will continue to be so. when i decided that i wanted to go natural my family didnt necessarily agree with it and at the time i was 16 years old and i saw your big chop video and i was so inspired to keep going with my journey. now that i am 18, i have convinced my mom to go natural and its good to know that i am not alone in the process how i was before! and thats my NHJ in a nutshell lol

Hi my name's Jenny I've been natural a little over two years. I transitioned for a year and big chopped a few weeks before it turned a year. My last relaxer was, ironically, the same day hurricane sandy hit. I was home, just took my braids out 3 weeks prior and decided that I would relax my hair one last time. I have enjoyed every moment even the bad because I knew I'd learn how to better take care of my hair. My hair is the healthiest its ever been!!! I'm glad I made the decision. 😁👌💂

Tfs. I have been fully natural just over 2 years. I big chopped after 8 mos being relaxer free. That was a big deal for me because I have always had at least bra strap length hair. My confidence is untouchable now. This journey has made me more comfortable with being me, than I have ever been. I love being natural and have not looked back. I am still learning but think my hair gets along well with most products. It loves shea Butter and avocado oil/butter for sure.

It will be two years in March since I did my big chop. I transitioned for six months but I didn't like dealing with the two textures. At the beginning of my journey I didn't have support from anyone expecially my family, everyone criticized my decision to do a big chop and I started to regret my decision but as my journey went on I started loving my natural hair more and more and I think this is one of the best decisions I have made.

Hi April! I've been transitioning for 11, about to be 12 months. I don't have a specific date as to when i want to BC,but I think it's gonna be a spontaneous moment when it actually happens! I was natural for the first 16 years of my life but I never knew my curl pattern or anything because I was constantly getting my hair hot combed. I also used to be teased because my hair was very thick and poofy so at 16 I got my first relaxer. Now, since I've been transitioning, this is my first time actually seeing my curl pattern and I am so excited! I've been looking up different shea butter mixtures to use for my hair and I love your idea. Even if I don't win this, I will definitely try it on my own! I'm a new subbie, but before I was always coming across your videos and your hair journey has helped me with my transitioning journey!

Hey April Bee! Love watching your gorgeous hair even though I have many different textures on my head mostly 4c/4b. I've been without relaxers since Dec 2010, and my last big chop (due to heat damage) was December 31, 2012, shaved it almost to the scalp. I'm in my awkward stage, too short to bun without pulling too tight and being uncomfortable, and too long to be considered twa, unless I let the incredible phenomenon of shrinkage take over. I've started to learn a lot finally, about my hair, experiment, and most importantly loooooooooooove and accept my kinks, curls, and coils😊

Hey April! I'm 16 years old, and at a young age I knew what healthy hair was. I've always had thick, long hair, but then I started to abuse my blowdryer and my flat iron. My hair began to shrink in length, but I brushed it aside because I had the notion that African American hair grows slowly and is very short (unless you're mixed). In the summer of 2013, I straightened my hair and noticed that it was shorter than shoulder length (my hair has never grown past my shoulder). In addition, whenever I would wash my hair I noticed how it wouldn't curl up anymore. I wasn't able to do twist out styles and no amount of conditioner or styling tools could bring back my curls. I did some research on big chops. At first I was hesitant because I didn't know how long my hair would take to grow, if it would grow, or if I should just gradually cut it as it grows. Finally after doing some hard thinking and math, I learned that my hair would be a shoulder length within a year of big chopping, bra strap length a year after that, and within 3-4 years from big chopping, my hair would be back length. So I kept it straight for a couple months, then on November 22, 2013, I big chopped. I went to the salon, and they cut my hair to about 2 inches long. I wore a wig to cover up my short hair, then I began getting braids (my normal hair style) until my hair got a bit longer. May of 2014 was when I was able to finally embrace my natural hair and go to school with it in its natural state. Not only was that a big jump for me as I didn't know how people would react, I didn't feel pretty with my natural hair. In the summer, I once again got braids so that my hair could grow out. On October 1st, 2014, a month before my year anniversary of my big chop, I took out my braids and went natural again. It was a bigger step for me as I attended a new school, and people were only used to me with braids. I died my hair burgundy as I wanted a change, and wore my hair out. At this point my hair was about shoulder length which was unbelievable because my hair was shoulder length the year before when I cut it! I could already tell how much my hair had grown, and I was so proud. Now, I'm 1 year and 2 month natural. Not only that, but I feel so incredible beautiful with my hair in it's natural state. I've begun to accept my hair and not care about what people think or say. Sure it does suck when everyone touches my hair or asks why it's so short or that they like my hair better in braids, it doesn't matter because I love my hair and I love how I look. That's my natural hair journey, but it's not over yet. I'm so excited to see what the future brings me with my hair!

Hey April! I big chopped when I was in middle school so it was "interesting" explaining to everyone why I cut my hair. I've been natural for about 2 or 3 years. The first year I was natural, I was as you say very scissor happy. I was so concerned about my hair being perfect and having 0 split ends. The first year, I didn't retain even an inch of hair. The second year I was so into trying out all these new natural hair things like the Denman brush, DIY deep conditioners, ACV etc and my hair grew a little bit. This year I am doing more simple things and protective styling and my hair is already growing!!! Throughout the years I have found out what my hair likes and doesn't like and I am proud to say that I am no longer a Product-Junkie lol

Hi April! This product looks really awesome, my friend actually shared your IG page with me last week & I fell in love with not only your hair but then realize yay, a VSU Alum too. But on topic, I have been natural for a little over a year now and transitioned for a year & a half. I was natural all my life and once I got to college I relaxed it. I only had a relaxer for 5 yrs & decided to return back to my original roosts and it has been a journey. I'm just in the process of learning my hair & what works for me & my texture. I'm currently growing my hair out of the tapered cut I had, so I'm learning to do different things with it as it continues to grow out. My hair would be known as "4c" texture so it's very coily but I love it. It's also very dry at times and living up north doesn't help at all with this harsh cold weather. Overall I have learned that my hair does enjoy being moisturized and pretty much being left alone (low manipulation styles). But I'm still learning it.

Hello April! Ive been natural for a little over two years and I am constantly at a struggle to find products that work well with my hair type/porosity. I am planning on a big chop in February to finally release myself of these old relaxed and heat damaged ends! So far only DIY products such as your deep conditioner have really worked for my hair and I have added it into my staples. My hair responds well to shea butter and unfortunately most store bought products contain ingredients that my hair doesn't agree with. Trying out your homemade whipped shea butter mix would be amazing and I know my hair would love it!! Your channel has motivated me so much to try more DIY hair product projects and understanding how to care for my hair properly. I can't wait to continue this journey with your help along the way!☺️✌️and ❤️.

I started my hair journey when I was 14. I didn't haveany resources and damaged my hair plenty of times mostly heat damage. In 2013 I decided to start my healthy hair journey. I still had setbacks because my hair is protein sensitive. I still use all natural products and now learning my hair through the seasons.

Hi April Bee! I pressed n curled my hair all of my life. My hair was heat damaged from years of pressing n curling it. I've always had long hair and I wanted to try short hair. I cut my hair off May of 2012. Rocked my short cut till November 2012 and began to grow it out rocking my natural curls. By August 2014 my hair was back where I started in the middle of my back and I chopped it off again August 8, 2014 in a really cute style and I'm loving it. Its easy breezy. No more hours of detangling...lol! I miss my hair sometimes but I will definitely be rocking my short style longer this time. I have enough hair to do twist/braid outs, wash n go's etc.. That's my journey. The end!

I've been natural for almost 3 years , I transitioned in 2012 . My last perm was in 2012 january. I wanted to become Natural after my hair broke off and I started to explore the natural hair community and loved it. I always had a head full but never embraced my real hair until I became natural , now I encourage all friends to . I hope I win bc that mix looks amazing 😬🙌

I did not big chop my return to natural was about 1.5 years. I slowly trimmed my ends until all the relaxed hair was cut off. It was definitely the hardest thing I've done because I wanted to see my curls but still have the length. My hair has always been thick but I love it even more now that I see the versatility of it!!!!

Just love love your videos they are so helpful and inspirational! I'm newly to being natural this past November made 1 yr and I transition instead of doing the big chop. An unfortunate event kind of help me make the decision to go natural and I don't regret it one bit. Though I'm still learning what works for my hair type I'm also finding out how much work you have to put in to being natural lol. But thanks to people like you I have all the guidance I need. Keep it up!!

Hi April! I had a rough start to my hair journey. It was sort of on and off for the first few months because being relaxed was all I'd known. I initially planned to just stretch my relaxers beginning in Feb 2013. My longest stretch was 4 months (Sept. 2013-Jan 2014). January 8, 2014 ended up being my last relaxer. I went to a Dominican Salon in my hometown where they left the relaxer on entirely too long even after I told them numerous times to rinse it out. It left my hair incredibly damaged and that was the last straw. I made up my mind and I ended up big chopping Aug. 29, 2014. I've been completely natural since and have been struggling tremendously. I have majority 4C hair with some 4B sprinkled in and I really struggle with dryness and breakage. :( I'm learning to love it though. Thanks so much for the vid! It's been a long time comin! lol

Hi April ! love the mixture I will have to try this 😍 I'm a somewhat newbie to natural hair I've been natural since my big chop June 20th of 2014. Before I big chopped I had lots of heat damage and on top of that I dyed my hair so I big chopped just start fresh and with my junior year of high school coming in I wanted something new , I also watched you and mini marley's big chop video which got me excited so I thougt I'd just go for it I was very nervous because I didn't exactly know how to take care of my natural hair but with the help of you and some other awesome youtubers I am now great at taking care of it and also excited to hopefully watch my hair grow healthy and beautiful!

Ive been waiting for you to make this video. I have been natural for 3 months, transitioned for 1 year after being relaxed most of my life. My hair is definitely type 4 but not sure of the subtype but i find it hard to keep it moisturized and I think this mixture would help! Even if i don't win i will try your recipe because it can get expensive buying products and this is as pure as it gets! love the consistency as well!

Hey April, I'm 17 and I've been natural for around 5 years now. I got my first perm in the summer of 5th grade & held it only for about a year. What encouraged me to go natural was my brother's, at the time, girlfriend. I started my transition around March and big chopped Oct.23.2010 (I had a mini fro). However, I never really let my hair out (I had cornrows for the majority of 7th). I haven't really started caring for my hair until last year and I'm seeing major progress! SHOULDER LENGHTH! I'm still trying out new things and seeing what works.

I have been natural for almost five years and have tried various products to keep my hair moisturized. I recently cut of about three inclines of dry damaged ends, which was very painful, but it is just hair and it will grow back, so even if I don't win a jar I am going to try this mixture on my hair. Thanks for sharing😃

I've been natural for a year and seven months now. Before I big chopped my hair was relaxed, I personally couldn't deal with getting perms and I admired curly hair and how unique it was so I completely stopped getting perms. During my anti-perm stage I kept my hair in twist and braids which my hair grew rapidly. I was in my six month stage of having no perm and all of my relax hair was just falling out so I cut it all off. I kept my hair moisturize and made sure it wasn't dry what so ever. I then tried a blow out three months later and I had so much hair due to the fact I'm a 4C curly head I made sure my hair was trimmed and watched it at all times tried different styles to see which my hair loved which was flat twist. Over time my hair started to break off and shedding was horrific. I then cut about two inches of my hair and decided to get braids again which caused my hair to grow. I than started doing research on hair oils... coconut oil helped my hair a lot I add it to everything I use as if conditioners, leave-ins and hot oil treatments !

Ive been natural for two years. I didn't want to go natural but somehow it happened! I used to have really damaged relaxed hair and would always wear micros which lead to me stretching relaxers. After I got bored with the micros i switched to sew-ins and other protective styles. After wearing sew-ins back-to-back for almost three years, I noticed my hair was all curly and grown out because I hadn't had any relaxers or used any heat. Majority of my relaxed ends had fallen off when I would wash my hair between installs. And two years ago I finally wanted to see how my hair looked straight and I was left with a little over an inch of relaxed hair. My natural hair has grown to shoulder length and that lead me to where I am today!

My hair journey : I decided to go Natural In 2012, but I was afraid to just chop off all of my hair at once, so I decided to transition. I thought I was going to be a long transitioner, until I took out my protective style in 2013 (Senegalese twist) and seen my first set or curlies. Not even 3 days later I called my friend. Asked her if she could do my big chop, and she did. I big chopped after transitioning for 9 months, and Ican honestly say it was the best hair decision I have ever made. April 17, I will be 2 years natural :) and I am enjoying the health, the growth, and the curls ❤❤❤

I'm 7 months post relaxed and its a struggle for me. I'm so ready to put a perm in it but your videos really let me know theres hope out there. I keep either braides or sew-ins in it while I'm transitioning since I'm not where I want to be for the BIG CHOP. Thank you for sharing your videos because I'm definitely following your hair journey.

Just came across your channel. Your journey is amazing I have been natural (no relaxer) for about 7 years. But I have learning how to care for my lovely tresses for the past 4 years. My hair was at ear length and now I am arm pit length. It has been a struggle finding what my hair loves. I believe that I am a 4b/c. I have always had thin edges so I have been focusing on growing my edges. Anyways that is my hair journey so far. the key for me is to keep it simple. I admit that in the beginning I became a product junkie. Lol. But I'm learning that simple is best and moisture is key. I hope that I get to try your homemade Shea Butter. If not thanks for sharing and I will making it myself. Stay blessed April.

I've transition for a year andcut off all my hair July of 2013. a few months ago I got highlights done ,and I'm loving it .but lately it bee dry and breaking a bit here and there just. gotta keep moving forward. I'm kind of hating my natural hair because it's just not cooperating. So I did a little bit of trimming and it feels so much better. But I'm reaching my goal slowly but I'm almost there. I'm so excited because I can't wait till it gets really long . I have a little bit of heat damage but it's not bothering me because it's slowly reviving itself . Yay!!! Natural hair rocks

I am transitioning from heat damaged hair. It has been 4 LONG months of learning my hair. You know, dating it, getting to know it, becoming best friends with it. I am planning on big chopping for my mom's wedding that is in July. I've been trying some new products, some I absolutely love and some... well let's just say they ended up back where they came from. I would love to try your shea butter. It looks great.

Went natural in 2010. I got one final perm for my graduation and just decided I didn't like them and didn't wanna spend $80 plus dollars for every salon visit. I didn't know about the natural hair movement then, I just did it because I knew how to take care of my hair so there was no reason to pay anyone to do it for me. Never looked back after that, and I've learned how to care for my hair mu ch better in time!
