I feel women have been almost pushed to work outside our home, to succeed in the corporate world, to work long hours, to be managers. Almost nobody understands the true importance of having more homemakers in the world, raising happy kids, building successfull relationships, making a home beautiful, cozy and safe. I Believe in my heart that this is our most important role, it doesn't bother me if people think i'm old fashioned or against feminism

I am 26 and want to start a family with my hubby of 5 years and want this to be my life. Sadly we live very simply but live in a very expensive state. I will have to work at least part time if we have children. I think being a homemaker is absolutely beautiful 😍

Women’s Lib robbed us in my humble opinion. It just gave me two full time jobs neither of which I felt I could give enough attention to 🤯. After I retired from my corporate mgmnt position, I kept my two granddaughters for 4+ years. We played, baked, crafted, read, sang, took field trips, etc. and all 3 of us THRIVED. I feel guilty that I couldn’t do that with my own three kids 🥺

If a woman is blessed with a good husband and father to the children, she would be lucky to stay home and be a good loving wife, mother and teacher to her children. To make a warm cozy home with great smells coming from the kitchen is a wonderful gift for her family. What an excellent role in life.

I was recently asked my occupation and when I told the person I was a home maker they were like that's great, not many people do that any more, we actually call it domestic engineering now. The more I think about it, the more that bothers me, the term homemaker has connotations of warmth and coziness, of taking care of your family in a loving and meaningful way, it's an art form. Calling it domestic engineering just sounds cold and clinical, more like a career than a lifestyle. Do people really think so little of taking of your family and home? What are they trying to accomplish by giving it a fancy new "important" sounding name? I embrace being a home maker and if anyone ever tries to tell me I'm a domestic engineer again I will correct them.
@ga6589
@ga6589 2 года назад
I don't know of many people who use the term "domestic engineering". I do have a hunch it got started to make the role of homemaker sound more substantial or legitimate, like a regular career outside the home. It's kind of like how secretaries are now referred to as administrative assistants.

I genuinely believed the word “homemaker” was a term used for residential construction workers or planners or something. But wow, people really say “Domestic engineering?” Always got to use word that make it seem cold and soulless like you said, totally not by design or anything. Especially when you take care of your children and their needs and education.

I love the term “home keeper”. It gives honor to the maintaining of a home. Setting things up is more “exciting”. But keeping it a home, day in and day out- that’s where the rubber meets the road. Such a gift to be content in your role. Happy New Year to you and your wonderful family Lisa.

This was lovely. As a wife who has been home for 26 years, a Momma for 25, I've had some time to weed out what is and isn't important. The work we do in our homes IS important. It sets the foundation for everything else in life. It may be hard, and seem to be impossible at times, every bit of it is worth it.

I work full time in another industry where I gain a lot of personal fulfillment, but I appreciate homekeeping content because I do indeed keep a home. I’m not able (nor do I desire) to put the time into it that you do but I appreciate that the content you share can help me to take some of the guess work out. When people share recipes, or routines, or methods of doing things it can take away the experimental time of discovering things that someone can do when it’s their full time occupation. For me, I was a homekeeper for a year and did not work. It was one of the hardest years for me personally and I really suffered during it. I don’t have to work, financially we are in a place where I could stay home, but I love my work. In the end, what matters is that women go where they feel called to be. Where they can have a positive impact and where they feel at peace. For me, that isn’t always at home, but for some it is and I’m happy for them 😊

Your videos have a very emotional effect on me. They take me back to when my children were toddlers and the joy they brought to my heart. I was a stay at home mom when it was very uncool to do so. I loved every moment of it, even the time we struggled financially. All of my adult children say to me that they had a happy childhood. What more could a mother wish to hear. My husband thinks I’m crazy when I tell him that if I could have another baby I would do it. We have 14 grandchildren and they are all teenagers now. I miss having an infant to cuddle with. You are truly blessed and a wonderful homemaker. I wish I had a baby carrier like yours, it’s gratifying to watch you do everything with your son so close to your heart. Happy New Year and God bless you and your family. ❤️

The best thing you said in this whole video is that the best part of your day is taking care of your family. I haven’t finished watching this but the words on the thumbnail said “keeper of the home” which sounds so epic if you say it like Gandalf from Lord of the rings… or some awesome epic story where there is the “keeper of the gate” or “keeper of treasures” and the like… because as much as there’s the ordinary, “I picked up this room and washed these dishes 3 times already today” tasks, those tasks are important and a mom in the home has a very important job beyond what is tangible and what can be seen from the outside looking in.

Thank you. I needed this reminder. My mother took great pride in being a homemaker. My parents had a business. We grew up with her working full time in the home for the home and the family business. She was proud to be doing both jobs. She excelled at both. I do not think she ever received the recognition that she deserved. She had self satisfaction, self motivation. Recognition was not there. I feel bad that we as children or adults never gave her that, for herself or her hard work put forth daily. Looking back we took advantage of her. She sewed many of our clothes 60 years ago. Made her own stylish clothes. Baked bread, made pasta. Walked a mile to the farmer down the road to get fresh milk with 5 kids in and out of a wagon. Taught us tennis, manners, canning, music, ast and so much more. I could go on. Thank you for carrying on traditions that so many women excelled at with little to no recognition.

This right here. I think back in the day, homemakers were not appreciated. Most had no financial resources to get out of a bad marriage if needed. People talk about women’s lib etc but I think Womens lib gave women a CHOICE to stay home and now good marriages with appreciated stay at home moms exist. In fact a lot of stay at home moms I know I have college degrees but chose to stay home. People don’t realize this but with women now having more “power” than they used to, indirectly the men they marry have more respect for them and when they stay home, they are appreciated and the marriages are more where they are respectful of each other.

You can believe there is plenty of repetition in the outside work world. If you feel in a rut, figure out some things to shake it up a little --do something different each day, allow yourself some fun with the kids (housework can wait sometimes)and remember to carve out a little time for yourself here and there ---for your sanity 😜No body is perfect, don't sweat the small stuff, yada yada yada.

As someone who has been a mom of 4 for almost 22 years, I am so happy to see younger women find joy in being a homemaker. I started out working full time with my first two boys, and it really wasn’t making sense for almost my entire paycheck to go to daycare. So we made the decision for me to pursue being a personal trainer and Pilates instructor. This allowed me to take my boys with me to work and be there for them. 2 more kids later (14 and 16) and I find the work is just as needed as it was when they were little. The house still needs to be cleaned and we have chickens and I started a garden. I cook every meal here and all our kids still live at home. Sometimes times have been super tight with money, however I have learned so much over the years and wouldn’t trade any of this for any amount of money.

I am 34 and have been a SAHM for two years. I went to college, traveled, and had a career. At times I feel like I am not living up to people’s expectations because I don’t work outside the home anymore. I sometimes internalize that, get down on myself, and start wondering if I should go back to work. But I love our life! We are all happy, the kids are thriving, and there is less stress and “grind.” Not that it’s always sunshine and roses, but this is working for us all. I remember growing up with two working parents and the stress and anxiety were always through the roof. Once my brother became a teenager he was almost never home to get away from it. I really appreciate hearing from people who value this work.

I'm not religious first off, and I do know that to some in America there is a religio-cultural tacet to home-making which doesn't always sit comfortably with me, but I loved this video because I really love those days too! When life slows down and repetitive tasks bring a comfort and a stability to a day. I try to do this at weekends. Being at home and caring for your home is something everyone on the planet can enjoy I think, because its your space of safety. From my perspective, I think part of why women have been so devalued is because this unpaid labour is totally ignored as a contribution to the economy and labour force, and in European and North American capitalist society that labour is overwhelmingly performed by women. I'd love to see more boys and men being encouraged to find this solace in making their home, as I think its something that brings so much to our mental health and connection to our environment and family, and its also a major life skill! Most people can't stay at home full time, but just finding some joy in the otherwise mundane is so healthy. This is why I love this channel, because while I don't always align with your culture, its these joys of life I can remind myself of and enjoy with you.

A Christian homeschooling program, that is known to promote Christian nationalism, and harmful fundamentalist ideals. I was enjoying her video and was saddened when she mentioned it, because it just proved my suspicions that I had similar to yours.

Seeing your daughter being involved so much really warms my heart. I love how you are raising her to model the role of a wife one day. It will be rare to find a woman who naturally takes care of the home and she will be treasured for that. You are an amazing mother and wife. I can't explain how important this is. Your channel brings relief that not all homes are so lost on the web. It's so much peaceful and natural to see your kids involved with everyday life skills. Beautiful. You're doing great, Mama! ❤

I just love this! When I got married 3.5 years ago, I had not a clue how to cook a thing, even a quesadilla! I have always hated cooking because it didn’t come naturally to me and I’d become easily fatigued in the kitchen from my chronic illness. My husband taught me how to cook, and finally as I’m in my final month of our first pregnancy, I am growing more and more eager to begin from scratch cooking as soon as I have an ounce of energy once our little boy is born. I just loved this video because it put into focus what I’ve been storing up in my heart the last few months, that I love and long to do- be a God-honoring homemaker. I’ve been the opposite of you, where I’ve hated cooking and loved the organizing side of homemaking. Now I’m excited to experience the joy of making food for my family along with making our home a haven.

So refreshing to affirm all these things I love doing for my family, and seeing you do them with so much passion really affirms the value of this essential care. The children feel so secure. Just to hear the sounds ... or our presence and the real work done... I carried my children too while working in the home and to this day they love home and family.

This is how I always wanted my life to be. I am thankful that my husband finally saw how truly miserable I was out working and how truly happy and content I am to be at home for the last few months taking care of the home, cooking, baking, fermenting, all my little projects. This is truly my happy place! Thank you so much Lisa for letting us see this beautiful part of your life. Such a joy! ❤️

I’m really the only stay at home mom in my family. I worked right up until I had my first and never went back. My husband and I always knew I’d stay home with the kids but my family gave me hell. I love the life we chose for ourselves instead of listening to the negativity.

I love your stove, it reminds me of the stove my grandma had when I was a kid. We baked a lot of cookies in that oven. I was very sad when it stopped working and was replaced by a modern one (back in the 90s). I have good memories of those amazing times with my grandma. Love your videos, thank you for sharing. 🥰

I love how you make keeping a home as simple as possible and focus on the important things and letting the other things not bother you. I love how you put so much love and thought into preparing food for your family. I love how your sweet little guy was crawling on the bed while you were trying to make it. That is real life right there. He just loved the tickle game. Your family is so blessed to have the love you put into keeping your home. I love seeing that sweet little baby sleeping on your chest as you work. Those cute little feet peeking out of the wrap are precious. Keep being you and inspiring others. Your blogs make me smile.

I love this so much! It applies to everyone, no matter the life stage. It can feel like a drudgery at times and even if you are doing all the home running things for only yourself it is worthwhile. I love the relaxing music and just the aspect of gratitude. It helps to shift the perspective of doing all the things to make your home run from drudgery to blessing. Thank you. And happy new year.
