I dunno whats worse, the review of the nailer or his nail placement lol

I know this is old video but, oil your nailers well and since you are right-handed, work from left to right by doing several rows so you are not constantly having to move back and forth. Maybe the best advice is watching some pros and you will learn the most efficient way to shingle. Also, the tank guage on air compressors is rarely accurate, mine is off by 10 -15 psi.

I was just demonstrating a few for video (hence the sandles) but I had never thought of which direction would be better to go...other than cord management. Thanks!

Lol...bout a month and a half dodging rain and work! I did half, then the front two quarters one at a time....a lot to bite off all at once.

Can you use this nailer on vinyl siding?

are those 1 1/2 '' nails from harbor freight??? seems strange you can't add more power..thanks

Glad you brought it up!! Whatever it was didn't seem to be a problem anymore as the job progressed. Either I didn't have the regulator set as I thought, or perhaps it has some sort of "break-in period"?? Whatever it was, it finished out the job like a champ...and yes, I was using 1.5"...maybe 1.75" from HF.

You only need four evenly spaced nails. Also, why not use synthetic underlayment?
@Mr.Handy-ish
@Mr.Handy-ish Год назад
Honestly, I've only ever used tar paper, and it was available. As far as 6 nails vs 4, we have a lot of wind here, so I was following the instructions for the higher wind rating. Thanks for the view and comment!

What size nailer are you using 1" 1/4 is pretty standard
@Mr.Handy-ish
@Mr.Handy-ish Год назад
I think the shortest it takes is 1 1/4, yeah...will take up to at least 1 3/4, I wanna say.
@Mr.Handy-ish
@Mr.Handy-ish Год назад
I was probably using 1-3/4" seeing as I was going into the original half inch thin deck plus 3/8 plywood.

Bro what is that nailing pattern lol
@Mr.Handy-ish
@Mr.Handy-ish 5 месяцев назад
Not a pro roofer, but was trying to follow the high wind pattern on the packaging. 6 nails. One on each end and two sets of twins a couple inches apart as I show...rather than 4 nails. Manufacturer says that gives the high wind rating...think it was 110 or 130 mph. Can't remember. We get plenty of wind here.

Wow. A review of a tool after 2 dozen nails...I would bet he had the depth setting wrong, and zero respect for anyone who does work like this in flip-flops. i bought the exact same model, used it for three days, only one misfire, and, sure, I had to hammer-in a few nails, but nothing major. Is it pro-grade? No. Is it a solid, effective tool? Absolutely.
@Mr.Handy-ish
@Mr.Handy-ish 5 месяцев назад
I'm sorry...please don't misunderstand...Im NOT a pro. Admittedly. Setting was correct...air pressure may have been sketchy causing the issues?? Loved the tool. At the end I say basically what you do...good tool, but probably not pro grade. I'm a Harbor fan, actually. It's my toy store. Affordable and lasts me long enough to get most jobs done. I'm not a pro, so a more expensive tool would likely rot away by the time I use it next anyway. Have a good one.

For future reference, what did I do to cause future problems? So far folks have recommended a different product to tar paper. My nail placement is for high wind (6 nails instead of 4 per manufacturer). I used bare minimum overlap on the tar paper 😬 I have another longer video of this roofing job if you cared to check my work for me. Thanks in advance!
