Which one do YOU Think is Best? THIS is the Smart Speaker I Prefer ➡ geni.us/r7huqD HomePod 2 ➡ geni.us/ht6j4AG Nest Audio ➡ geni.us/N3dlDA Echo Studio ➡ geni.us/r7huqD
Hey Max!! Please do a video of a 1-5min clip stabilized with Sony's Catalyst Browse (gyro data app) using M1 / M1 Pro 8c / M1 Pro 10c / M1 Max . Thanks, I'd really appreciate it.
Yeah I got the Echo studio as well. Absolutely insane speaker. Incredible sound. Especially when it's high fidelity music. I don't know how it kicks out so much bass. But it does. I want to get a echo sub for it
Really good review ! I would've really liked to see the Sonos one compete here also. It can have Alexa, Google Assistant, or Sonos's own assistant. Definitely would slot in to the category of high end smart speakers.
Don't worry. They love making multiple videos on the same topic! So get ready for a HomePod to Sonos One comparison and then a HomePod to Sonos One SL and then a HomePod to Sonos 5...........
Echo has bass but it gets distorted at high volumes at least that’s what I found. I had the same issue with two separate echo devices. I had to turn down the bass on certain tracks and movies due to this, the HomePod had no such problems.
Thank you for always working so hard to make each and everyone of your review comparison videos, so hyper filled with detail and extremely entertaining
On my MacBook Pro even with airpoods , its hard to really tell a difference other than volume differences. I will go by your real world observations. Frequency response graphs are useful but can't really predict what subjective listening experiences will be.
Yes. Sometimes frequency response charts can show a nice flat sound signature but in real life the quality of the sound just isn't there. I think I'm going to buy a better microphone and set up a small corner of a room that will do a better job at recording the differences. I know going through youtube and playing through someone's speakers won't show all the differences so I'll still give my commentary, but I want to make it better.
Hi Amazing review as always. Would be awesome to have a comparison against the sonos 1 and 5 with the new Homepod . Your reviews would bring so much clarity! Cheers
I'm really interested in a comparison of the HomePod to a Sonos One. There is so much back and forth online about which is better. Keep up the good work!
I would love to see a comparison between the Homepod 2 and the Studio WITH the sub. they both come in at $300, so it would give a great "which one should have my $300" video. I keep wanting the Homepod, but a have so many Echo Dots as it is, the draw of staying in the same smart-speaker world is strong.
Echo Studio can take a wireless sub as well. Which makes my floor vibrate! It's a more flexible device, cheaper and has a smart assistant, unlike the HomePod 2 which has a dumb one. No contest, really. Would be good to get a comparison of a stereo pair.
I’ve heard a few home theater RU-vidrs say that 2 HomePods with spacial audio makes a really good surround sound system. Even saying they think it’s a better experience than soundbars or surround sound systems that cost as much or a little more than two HomePods.
Used to have a pair of Echo Studios. Just bought a pair of HomePod 2's. My memory is that the Studios sounded better. I think the HomePod is hollow sounding. Vocals sound bad. Where are the mids? Might return them.
Holy sheet| The Echo is really massive! I thought it was half its size in height and width! Consumer Reports tested in sound quality: Homepod 2= 4/5 Echo Studio= 4/5 Nest= 3/5
Recently bought 2 HomePods 2 and use them as a stereo system with the Apple TV, and it has been amazing the way it improve my overall experience with movies and music (don’t use much of the smart features and used to have a Bose 500)
@@sayemak99 they’re amazing I use 2 as a stereo pair as my home theater system don’t regret it one bit the sound quality is so full highs, lows. The bass is incredible I’m amazed they’re able to produce so much bass out such a small frame sounds like a car 10in subwoofer. It’s able to play loseless audio and Dolby atmos too so you’re able to enjoy audio how it’s meant to sound!
disable audio normalization on spotify on the iphone and you’ll see the homepod goes much louder than what youve tested. spotify connect on the echo does not use normalization so it is not fair in terms of volume if you tested the homepod with spotify’s normalization that reduces loudness a lot
i’d like to note also that the homepod does not have spotify integration because spotify does not want to, apple allows third party services since 2020 but spotify does not want to implement it. also airplay 2 has been out since 2018 and spotify still refuses to update their app from airplay 1 to airplay 2, and thats why it has a 2-second delay with homepods and other airplay 2 speakers/tvs and also dropouts sometimes
So hear’s my opinion: I have immense respect for the HomePod as a music-first device. I have 2 first Gen homepods in my living room paired to my Apple TV. I don’t want a smart speaker. I don’t need a smart speaker. The HomePod to me has always been a music listening device first, that happens to have smart speaker functionality. The HomePod mini is a smart speaker, that happens to sound decent. But my favorite thing about the HomePod, besides it’s sound quality, is that there is NO EQ! My old roommate and I built our own custom DML speakers, and they sounded amazing, but I’d come home some days and he’d be listing to these things at max volume but also had turned the treble up so high that it was painful to listen to! So he always complained when I would dial the treble back down. ANYWAY the HomePods are the first speakers I’ve ever listened to (AirPods Pro and Max’s also) that sound EXACTLY they way I want them to sound out of the box for every type of music I listen to. I’ve listened to the echo studio, it still comes across to me as a smart speaker first, music device second. Even in this video it sounds way muddier to me compared to the HomePod. I have yet to find a speaker(s) that can replace a stereo pair of HomePods in overall sound quality, the sound signature (this is more subjective, or personal), and soundstage.
I think that’s a mistake to return the HomePod. I’m enjoying my HomePod 2. I don’t need to listen at max volume. Balanced and clarity is what sounds the best.
Why didn't you use 2 nest audios as an audio pair like you did with the home pod mini review since the mini and the nest audio are about the same price and you can get 3 of them for the price of 1 homepod 2nd gen? I'd love to see that comparison.
Honestly, I didn't expect it to sound that much worst than the others. If I would have known I would have gotten 2 but with that, based on other stereo pairs I've tested it wouldn't make it sound much better, other than being louder overall and having stereo separation. I still won't have very much low end. The HomePod Mini's that use a single speaker have more bass and better sound quality than the Nest which has a tweeter and a woofer. Of course, the Nest gets louder but the sound quality gets even worst when you turn it up past the volume of the Mini. (In the sound quality comparisons I had all of them turned down to the level of the Nest where it sounds its best). I Wish they still made the Google Home Max, I recommended that to a few friends that wanted loud speakers that sounded good. It was even louder than the Echo Studio.
@@MaxTechOfficial Thank you for the detailed response. I feel Google has really great product ideas but their execution is usually lacking. I'm trying to convince myself to get in the Google ecosystem but time and again reviews such as yours show that I should probably just pick Apple.
I wouldn't say this is a fair comparison, as the physical size of the Bluetooth speakers significantly impacts the sound they can produce. Also, they are not within the same price category.
I have been spending weeks trying to decide between the E studio and HP2 and no matter the different reviews I decided to get the HP2 for one simple reason, phone app. My echo is 7 years old and the app hasn’t changed and the echo is the only Amazon device I own. And the Amazon assistant is worse when it comes to requesting to play a certain artists and ends up recognizing it as some other artist I never heard before. Plus the Amazon echo is more invasive to me with the constant notifications of anything and the app has them turned off and I still get them. The app from Amazon is on par with anything windows makes, invasive and not user friendly.
Homepod: „As far as the smart assistant smartness it‘s the most dumb aswell“ - spoken from my heart. And saw you grinning. you had to control yourself not to laugh at that sentence.😂
I enjoy your reviews, but since I’m looking for Tv speaker use with Apple TV, it would be really helpful if you tested and commented on the speaking voice quality of the speakers. Keep up the good work.
Great video… now given Siri is lame, wondering if there are any dumb Bluetooth speakers (no assistant) that are better than homepod for the same price or less… there must be? Maybe with airplay2?
There is a BUG in the Dolby Atmos software of HomePod 2 or iOS 16.3. For example, streaming from iPhone the song "The Girls of Ipanema" of Stan Getz/Gilberto, Dolby Atmos version, the voice of Astrud Gilberto is played on the right channel (Dolby Atmos enabled). Streaming the same song from Apple TV 4K (1st gen) the voice of Astrud Gilberto is played on the left channel.
I've got 5 Nest Audio's, one Google Home Mini (old, but still works great), 2 Nest Hub displays and two Google Wifi Points (which sound about the same as the Nest Mini) and a Chromecast Audio. Should I have gone with HomePods? No, because: 1. I do not consider them smart speakers, which for me is an important aspect of having speakers around the house. So, I would have had to buy separate products for that. 2. Nest Audio is great for casual listening, I use real speakers connected to Chromecast Audio for high quality, concentrated music listening. 3. The price, my wife would not let me spend that much money :) Still, I prefer listening to a stereo paired Nest Audio compared to a single HomePod that costs more. 4. Apple doesn't play nice with Spotify But yeah, if you ignore the price and just consider audio quality, the HomePod is clearly better.
Thank you very much for the comparison and analysis. After comparing several smart speakers with various assistants on board, I chose Harman Kardon Allure for myself. Design + sound quality + use as a bluetooth speaker + smart home management + support for most streaming services. Alexa assistant helps me every day. I like Apple products, as long as they don't ban their products from being bundled with services other than their own.
Thanks for making such informative and thorough reviews. It’s always a pleasure to watch Max Tech videos, even if I’m not a genuine buyer of most products, it’s still fascinating to watch. One thing I must add, PLEASE don’t take an early retirement! I definitely foresee myself still watching Max Tech in 30 years time. 👍❤️
In all honesty, I've thought of getting any one of those devices😕. They just seem like a "if you've got some money, just laying around, get them" type of devices.
I have a Google Home Max, HomePod 2018 pair, and other Nest speakers (from Nest Hub Max display along with the nest you use in your comparison). The HomePods (though not a bit fan of Siri) blow away the others in regard to sound quality. Not a fan of Amazon speakers so much so typically stay away from them. The main reason I have the nest speakers is because of the Google voice assistant. Plus I have Nest cameras and love the displays.
Yeah I have many smart speakers and the Homepod blows them all away, the actual sound quality and imaging are brilliant. I use Apple music so that's not a problem. Siri however, is shocking.
Homepod is better in SQ but have you heard about Vifa Helsinki or Vifa Oslo? Those speakers are way ahead in terms of Soundquality in such a small form factor.
I already like the sound quality of my homepod mini stereo pair lol certainly gonna be a big jump up once I can get the full sized homepods where I live.
In terms of their assistants, I have had no end of trouble with Alexa to where I have disconnected the smartspeaker out of frustration. It does not listen to anything I say to it, it stops listening whilst I am still asking the question, it ignores the question and stops listening, orit does something random from what I have asked. Google assistant is far better.
I wish amazon would sell their speakers without mics...i have no need for a smart speaker but companies don't really make a good "home speaker" that isn't massive.
When Apple launch the HomePod they said that they are prioritizing sound first, second, third and then voice assistance and all the rest. But with this new HomePod I do not know what Apple is paralyzing I did buy one and I am planning on taking it back.
Great video but I respectfully disagree with the conclusions. If you are an audiophile, then none is what you need and you should go to a proper AV receiver with a full array of speakers. You want these for the "smart" features, and I got to say that Alexa is most compatible but atrocious in voice recognition. So I take Siri any day for that alone. If you are really into tweaking the EQ, then why bothering with these consumer grade speakers?
Are you using an equalizer for some people call it spectral Iser or are you just playing it straight out of the phone or stereo? How are you putting the sound out?
Excellent comparison. The Nest isn’t in the same league with the HomePod 2 and the Echo. There’s more to sound quality than loudness and bass. Even here in your comparison, the HomePod 2 has better overall sound quality than the Echo IMO.
No one has yet addressed the issue of the homepods, both original and mini, cutting out, especially when watching RU-vid video. Does Ver. 2 also do this? Maybe this is why Apple went to an older WIFI/Bluetooth version?
@@MurphyBeatty I wish I was that fortunate. Both my originals and minis cut out sporadically when watching video on Chrome and Safari. Most notably on RU-vid. This happens on both my M1 16" MBP and my Studio. I have tried all the suggestions found online but nothing helps. This also happens on different wifi locations (hotels, home, etc).
Why compare google nest to home pod, its competitor in the price range is home pod mini (single) and the basic echo, not echo studio. You can get 3x google nest for 150 euros.
As a HomeKit hub is Apple at least stressing security/privacy aspect? I don’t know what they’re trying to sell here other than a remodeled stripped down HomePod 1
Can you guys compare the newest iPad Pro with the M2 chip vs the Mac Book Pro with the M2 chip? I guess I trying to understand which would be better for a creative such as myself
