Just bought a couple. I should let you know ifm 71 and English, liked your short video- you’re right about the volume, many moons ago, I used to be a ‘sound engineer (late sixties and seventies, it was learn as you go, a lot was happening and fast). I was and still am a musician, so I fuller understand your take on how much sound and volume is required. I think you are right about the depth and quality of the sound - but these days, I don’t think I could tell the difference between Bang and Olufsen and Panasonic.!

The both of them in a pair are perfect for a small flat, echo dots don’t fill the room but these do but they’re small and cheap and also because it’s apple it connects to my phone so easy

I’ve noticed the HomePod mini as a pair have a lower threshold of volume when playing music. For example if I play the volume at “65%” on the mini with 1 for equal loudness I have to be at like “85%” with a pair. I know this is an issue with the Apple TV using them as surround but apple needs to fix it. I think the issue is apple is trying to have the mini’s be in “actual stereo” when playing music which affects the volume. I wish I had my regular HomePod still but it bricked itself and now this is what I’m left with since I can’t find them anymore. If anyone knows how to adjust this for music let me know. I know the Apple TV hack.

Hi Austin, I just paired a set of HomePod mini's, and I was disappointed i will still need a set of desktop speakers to hear RU-vid and Netflix on my computer. Love the mini home pods with AirPlay. Thanks for the video!

It's not an instant plug-n-play, but can still do this via Airplay in your Mac (assuming you're running one?). Google: How to Use a Pair of HomePod Minis As Computer Speakers. If it's a Windows PC you're out of luck though.

Does anyone knows if once they are set as a stereo pair on the home app, it would be possible to continue using them as stereo pair while streaming music from the iPhone (through Airplay) when they are offline and not connected to the internet???

I did this myself actually - as I'd been wanting to set up a stereo pair for my mobile workshop cart (ie. the shop I work in has terrible WiFi). So I have the mini's powered by a USB-C power bank, no WiFi connection - and the stereo setup still works great through Airplay.

From what I can hear in these videos, not in person at least, is that ONE Homepod is okay, but TWO MINIs can give as great an lush and full a sound as ONE Homepod. Get TWO Homepods and it's lights to for the Mini, but at $200 for both that's about average price for a soundbar that may or may not come with a subwoofer anyway.

Both of my full sized homepods started to pop and eventually would never turn back on and I’m pissed at Apple for making a device that broke when all they both ever did was sit on my dresser.

Works on both on my side but you have to select HomePod Mini in the Apple TV settings each time you are using the Apple TV which is very annoying.

Worst review I’ve seen. Title says stereo set up. In 5 seconds it tells you how to set up stereo pairing. Which is insane. It does nothing to walk you through how to do this. I was looking for a video for how to set up so I could send it to my dad to help him do it. This video does nothing for that. It’s just some guy telling you how he like the mono HomePods. But no useful info so someone who doesn’t know how to pair a set. Awful
