Nope. You can't get the hadoken upgrade until after you've collected all of the weapons, sub-tanks, and heart tanks. Basically, you can only use it on the last few levels. (Or I guess you could redo a level you already beat, but there'd be no point.)

The spider would always hit me before I could release a hadouken. I just finished him with the shotgun ice like intended.

@@gedaman The trick is to pay attention to the web lines, then track its trajectory as fast as you can. Position yourself in a safe place, then throw a Hadoken as it lands. Throw it early if it lands far away.

Pro-tip: If you're using one of the weapons in the middle like Electric Spark, you can switch immediately to the X-Buster by pressing L+R at the same time, instead of cycling or pausing.

Even as a seven-year-old, after getting the dash and then compulsively using it constantly, it didn't take long to notice that the things which normally took 2-3 shots were now blowing up after 1 or 2. Hell, even after realizing it didn't do that for charged shots, I still liked shooting the huge purple blast mid-dash simply because I thought it looked cool.

@@solouno2280 I always found Sting Chameleon to be one of the tougher bosses. Especially with how difficult it could be (especially when I was younger) to dodge the spikes he rains down from the ceiling without just getting lucky.

Depends on how fast you can find the safe place to stand.

@@schwarzerritter5724 Which is admittedly much easier for me nowadays. But way back when I was a kid, the spider boss was a nightmare. Especially once he starts reaching maximum speed, giving you so little time to process where to stand, get into that position, and still have time to score a hit.

The crazy thing is that the voice for that sound clip was provided by Megumi Ogata, the voice actress for Shinji Ikari as well as other well known anime characters such as Kurama from YuYu Hakusho and Haruka Tenoh / Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon. That's right, they hired a well known voice actress just to say a single word instead of just having someone involved in the game do the voice like how Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has provided Scorpion's iconic "GET OVER HERE!" and "COME HERE!" lines from the first Mortal Kombat onwards in most games or how composer Kazumi Totaka has provided the voice for Yoshi ever since Yoshi's Story.
