So as someone who's really into martial arts and such I actually slowed this down to watch Homer's kick and it's actually shockingly good for a goofy cartoon bit like this...Simpsons animators man, they're damn good at their job
There is such inconsistency in how they portray EVERYONE. Bart is too weak to lift a rock, feels pain when he cracks his knuckles, but also skateboards perfectly. Homer spends several seasons reading, but then suddenly in one episode says he cant read. Also his eating changes a lot too! Best not to try to put logic in a comedy cartoon 😂
@@OttoRoesch28 it's true, gracies like to mislead people. carlos gracie's real teacher was jacyntho ferro (student of meada) not meada. there's no evidence that meada even taught them.
Homer is the most balanced character in the history of animation. He is so powerful the only think stoping him from taking over the world is his own stupidity.
@@sonicfx5431 No,BJJ is about submiting your oponent by preventing him form moving,JJJ(Japanese Jiu Jutsu) that is about using your oponemt's strenght against him. BJJ is actually closer to Judo than JJJ.
@@devilbuster20xx37 exactly. Bjj is more affective tbh, i dont know a single mma fighter who had done jjj, i mean you would have to go back to the pride days but even there the big names had done something else: yoshida (judo), aoki (bjj), sakuraba (bjj and wrestling) etc
This scene tells us a couple of things. First, the Jujitsu instructor has several times the mass of Homer. Second, Homer is strong enough to keep himself perfectly rigid when held horizontally by the foot.
Maybe the instructor is fixed to the ground. In that case our first lesson is reduced to "the Jujitsu instructor and the planet Earth combined have several times the mass of Homer" which is way less impressive.
Lmao yeah everything isn’t accurate. It said karate but said he was teaching mma? He’s a black belt but he’s collar is white. And he threw marge to the ground which is judo
@@deadman4712 his belt was only white when throwing marge (for some odd reason) and the judo throw thingy is because jiujitsu actually use then some times (i guess, because it could be part of the joke like you said) I said that jiujitsu can use throws sometimes because i been teached to do then if i get in a real fight, not that i can do then in the mat
This is goofy, funny, painful both not a gorefest, so it's definetly not a fatality

@@lewis8200 Yeah BJJ focuses more on guard work and just the ground game in general while traditional JJ is far broader and covers all phases of a fight to varying degrees (I actually do some writing for an MMA site haha). This clip is just referencing "jiu jitsu" (which we can assume is Japanese JJ), while Artie specifically says he mastered BJJ. I just thought that little scene with Artie was funnier than this clip haha.
@@lewis8200 I normally do post-mortem breakdowns for UFC events, and sometimes I do event previews and other opinion pieces. I used to do them much more often but I've slowed down a bit since the day job has gotten so busy, but I always make sure to get a long-form recap out for major UFC cards.

Well he is teaching Marge so she can go into an MMA fight, that means she gets the softer example done on her and he uses homer to demonstrate the full effect lmao
@@mikeoxmaul9386 Chiropractors pop discs and vertebra BACK into position and there's an audible pop when the discs and vertebrae are repositioned, same as all the other joints of the body btw, vertebra and discs are joints too !
Okay, everyone is giving props of Homer's amazing jumpkick but can we just aknowledge that Akira somehow saw it coming and was prepared for Homer of all people able to do that?
@@AB-py6jl I don't understand why a lot of people call the asians yellow I've meet a lot of them and they look brunette or a little bit white depending on the region
Can we talk about how strong he is? He held homer in the air with one arm and didn't drop him, held him with one arm and ran his other hand down Homer's spine 😂😂
Why couldn't there be Chinese weapons in a Japanese dojo? You will be surprised to learn that the Chinese dojo was using a Japanese printer and the French restaurant was using a Mexican dishwasher.
i recall explaining Brazilian jujitsu to a friend of mine, and he responded "so it's the art of folding cloths while people are still in them." that is now my go to whenever someone asks
Guys juijitsu originally is an umbrella term for samurai hand to hand martial arts. Lots of modern martial art schools had adapted technics from it. Bjj is just one school of the many. There is life beyond that.
If you know a martial art that works in real life as well as Muay thay or BJJ, prove it in the octagon. So many "traditional" martial arts work only on untrained drunk guys.
@Keen Tan I’m pretty sure if you look up the original meaning of aryan it refers to a group of people from India. So you right and hitler is still dumb af
I was half expecting Homer to clobber him because 'Jiujitsu uses your opponent's strength against himself', and Homer has _no_ strength. "How? How did he do that?!"
