I feel like year after year I struggle with the fact that we don't finish curriculum. But at the end of the day our kids are learning, so we shouldn't let switching curriculum or not completing a program matter ❤

I have too many kids to use MWC.😂 We have been woth Apologia math for 2 years and its working perfectly. I'm going to check out Winning with Writing. Thanks for sharing!

We have the same issue with the Apologia audiobooks. Not my favorite. We have just started reading aloud especially since our reading is in shorter bits.

We had such a hard time with math curriculum last year and finally landed on MWC 1 and it was great. I didn't even think twice about buying MWC 2. I figured we found our math curriculum for the rest of elementary. I'm not sure what it is about this year/level but I'm just not liking it for us now. You're right, there are A LOT of manipulatives 😅 and my daughter all of a sudden hates math again. I think she needs a gentler approach so I just ordered Math Lessons For a Living Education. Have you ever tried that one?

We transitioned from TGTB to Master Books largely because of all the manipulatives. I don't think I'm the type of mom that could ever do MWC.

I totally get it! I’m thankful that majority of manipulatives don’t really need to be used as they often show pictures in the kids book to demonstrate as well !

Hi, I know exactly what you mean when you talk about MWC. I used the kindergarten level with my dayghter. It’s so tedious to teach, and the teacher guide is hard to read. Not to mention lessons don’t flow. So I switched to Apologia for level 1. We haven’t started it yet. Can you explain a bit what you mean by they don’t use real life application? I was watching the authors videos and she talks about how she does use real life application in the program especially in the unit projects. There aren’t many reviews about apologia math out there so I’m very curious.

Hi! I personally didn’t see much real life application in my apologia level 3 meaning to me, how to incorporate how to use/apply the problems in real life. In MWC I see it more frequently in the way the problems are presented. For example, instead of just having you add/subtract money, MWC confidence is showing you a store layout and having you see it visually how to make change whereas apologia would just give the problem $4.13-$2.00 if that makes sense. I do love how MWC offers the review of previous concepts as well as practice of current concept but the activity teaching portion is rough. But I appreciate there IS an actual teacher manual with option and tips in how to explain if child is not sure and or where to go back if the concept is not grasped well. In apologia , the teachers manual to me, besides the activity pull out pages, and answers felt very pointless with little to no help shall the child need it. I like both curriculums for diff reasons and I’m really torn between the two, but for the rest of the year I’m sticking to MWC. That was probably not helpful at all 🤣

@@blessedhomeschoolmess ok this makes sense. Thanks for explaining it. Yes MWC lessons are so tedious I can’t stand it. The only reason I stuck with it was because it was working for my girl. I’m going to stick with apologia level 1, if it doesn’t work, I’ll just go back to MWC. Thanks so much.
