Love watching your videos about twins, we have twin 4 yr olds doing kindergarten level academics. We also love Explode the Code, AAR1 and of course anything with TGTB such as their science, math and LA. Your ideas for working on automaticity for reading word ladders is definitely going to be an instant hit in our household, thanks for the suggestions! I might add there are some great online curriculums that are also free to download such as Under the Home, Starfall, Khan Academy, Easy Peasy, Ambleside, NASA, and etc.

Great update video! I have twin girls that I'm homeschooling. They are 5 so they're in kindergarten. Luckily they do have a longer attention span then I know boys can have. I also have a 3 year old son and I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to get home to sit still and focus for 10 minutes. Same as your boys my girls also have different learning styles. One girl picks up things very quickly and is not afraid of trying and trying until she gets it. The other is hesitant and feels like she can't "go for it" until she is sure she can do it 100% the first time. I still have them on the same curriculum at the same levels but I may change that up next year. Thank you for all the good ideas on keeping things interesting.

I loved hearing your experience from this year. That's nice that you have the actual Math box--we had to do the PDF version of manipulative for TGTB math and that was a lot of work to prep. That's interesting that you chose to skip the coin work and problems in math. We've always saved a handful of US coins that we use for math only to teach the kids about these strange coins that are used on the other side of the globe. haha!

That's a great idea! Yea we had some coins and at the beginning I pulled out coins and showed them. But later on I stopped , they were introduced to the concept. I figure if or when we move to the US , they'll be older and I can teach them then. Hopefully they would catch on easier because they'll be older. I don't know, maybe till next year ill include it in our math more. Well see. I take it one step at a time. It also was confusing for them to learn the two different kinds of money at the same time. And they/we use the local money here mostly.

I have boy/girl twins going into first grade. I so agree that it is hard because they each learn differently. In fact mine are way different when it comes to learning to the point my daughter needs a different curriculum than my son for reading/phonics.

That's interesting to hear. One thing nice about using different curriculum with them is then you get that built one on one time with them. :)

Love hearing about how you homeschool twins - mine are 3.5 ... so I still have a little time 😀. Also I’m looking at using sonlight- so I’m excited to hear more about what you think of using it!

Oh thays so fun you have twins. Twins are so great, a challenge but a good fun challenge. Yes, so far we are loving all the read alouds but we'll see if it continues.

You mentioned doing All About Reading and CLE. Is there one that you like better?

It really depends on your child's needs. Both have good points. All About Reading is just reading. Its interactive and straight forward. Not overwhelming. Great for kids who like short lessons and hands on. CLE is reading, phonics, spelling, writing, and some grammar. Its not as interactive but it does have lots of repetition. CLE for a homeschool family, almost borders on having busy work because of all the repetition. But you can choose what you want to do and what you don't want to do.

How did you punch through sleeve protectors to add to your proclick? I tried and made a mess. The plastic got snagged in the teeth of the punch :/ I'm not that handy i guess

I had one that didn't work. Maybe it works better on thicker sleeve protectors? It is still a little difficult.
