Today I am brainstorming over some curriculum that I am thinking about for my 7th grader for the next school year 2024-2025.
Also, comparing what it is like to homeschool middle school high school, oldest child with the youngest child.
Thanks for watching ❤️

I love your videos! My kids are 15, 13, 10, 5, and 1 year old. I'm only homeschooling my three middle kids right now. My oldest is at a private school.

Great brainstorming video, Rachel! My 8th grader is currently using Science Shepherd's Physical Science and he is NOT a science lover but doesn't it at all. I reached out to the company with the same concerns you shared in the video and they said if its his first time learning Chemistry or Physics then that was the correct level for him. However, for next year we may look into Journey Homeschool Academy for science. Only reason we will possibly switch is because the high school textbook has audiobooks and science kits. Those were high priorities for my rising high schooler to be more independent. Looking forward to seeing your chooses!

So fun to hear your thoughts. My oldest is going into 7th grade next year which is just wild to me. I then will have a 5th grader and a Kindergartener. I came across Language Lessons for a Living Education 7 this week and it really caught my eye. I’m excited to get my hands on it and really look through it. I think it will be a good fit for my son. We currently are using Learning Language Arts through Literature and you are right that it reminds me of that. But I like that the Masterbooks one has a strong biblical world view. I look forward to seeing what you end up deciding for everything!

I greatly appreciate you mentioning the Hebrews 11 memorization! I never thought to have them memorize a whole chapter and it makes sense. After reading through Hebrews 11 I’m going to do this with my seventh grader next year as well. Then the wheels started spinning and I plan on suggesting this for our VBS study this summer with Heroes of Faith based off Hebrews 11. Thank you for the inspiration!!

I have every stage of child. I have 1 adult 19 year old, a 13 year old going into first year of high school, 1 going into 6th grade and an almost 3 year old. It is tricky to juggle it all. I can only do it with the help of God. Your videos are always helpful!😊❤

I was also looking at masterbooks language arts. It looks good. To me it’s better then the younger grades.

I agree. I was looking at it this week and am impressed with how it looks compared to the younger grades. It is a high contender for my soon to be 7th grader.

Both my kids will be in high school next year. I can’t believe it!!! They both used exploration education and I highly recommend it. We purchased the high school level for them to do together, but I had my son skip the worksheet on the 5th day, and just do the hands on portion with my daughter. (The 5th day is what’s different between the middle school and high school levels). It’s not a typical watch a video and then do the worksheets. The online portion has reading, maybe a video and instructions. It was simple to follow, and led them through the hands on quite well. The lettering is large and spaced, and it’s not a lot of reading. Almost every lesson has some hands on aspect, though some is building in preparation. My son really enjoyed the courses, but he’s a science/engineering minded person. My daughter wasn’t a big fan, but it wasn’t bad for her. She doesn’t lean towards hands on projects. However the hands on is very good for helping cement the teaching. There was a bit of math that my daughter needed help with, but at that point she hadn’t finished prealgebra yet. It was only a little bit of math in the lessons.

I have one 13 year old girl only. I started using Abeka with her in her 3rd grade and we use Apologia too. We dabbled with IEW. I’m currently switching her over to do LUOA to try duel enrollment classes. I’m tired, needing something else to take the wheel somewhat. I’m hoping it’s a good fit for her, the good news is she’s very independent. So we’ll see.

This year I have children in preschool, kindergarten, first grade, third grade, sixth grade and 9th grade. We're also expecting baby number 7 so we run the whole gamut of ages except for adult children in this house. It is amazing how different homeschooling is now than it was when I only had little ones.

Yes it is so different! But I really enjoy learning with my older ones, but miss the season of teaching reading and making lapbooks! It really does go by so fast❤️🙏 (And congratulations on new baby coming🤗)
