What do you do when you feel bogged down with guilt for things that you know are just part of life?

Goodness, when I heard about all the things you do- I am not surprised you are overwhelmed! All the things you said, are encouraging. The only thing I would add is to recommend to try to get to bed earlier than usual. Its like magic. It helps me to get through the hard seasons…. Hope this helps you too…

Thank you for putting yourself out there! Its brave to be open and honest, and so many of us feel heard and understood when people like you show up and speak up. I really value your videos as a new secular homeschool mom, myself. It's great to see some content from someone who i feel we would be friends in real life - I don't find too many out there that I feel I can connect with. I hope you find some peace in these days ahead, you sound like such a great mom, wife, human. Take good care

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for your time with this channel amongst the busy/guit part of the season! I absolutely love watching! I'm a homeschool mom who has guilt in this season of our family life. My youngest daughter is going through chemotherapy for leukemia. Its going to be two and a half years of treatment. So far we are finishing month nine of intense chemo which is tough because its multiple trips to infusion clinic and doctors appointments that my elder daughter can't go to. I'm feeling guilty about failing bith right now, but in the same breath so grateful they can be together more than when in the brick building. I fret, think about sending the older one back, then think if germs and time lost. But i know what we are doing is best right now. It's finding peace in just doing the best we can for what life is throwing at us i suppose 💗

Thank you. I hope you are able to ignore that sneaky little voice that gives you doubt. Please know that what you do with and for your children is amazing and priceless, especially through such a difficult season. I hope your daughter is able to work through chemo with as little discomfort as possible ❤️

Wow Melody, you may have accidentally just made that video for me. I put on your video to listen to while I clean the kitchen, kids are in the pool (NZ summer) and listening to you, I absolutely broke down, like an idiot, sobbing in the sink while the kids are thankfully outside. Oh it is all so overwhelming and I’m exhausted and our school year is supposed to begin next week! Yet I’m working all the time doing “home jobs” so I can still be there for the kids. But that means doing other peoples laundry and babysitting/homeschooling other peoples children, and cooking meals for other people and then working evenings and weekends, and cleaning other peoples houses then coming home and cleaning mine. And my oldest just turned 8 and is in 6th grade (NZ year 7) this year, which sounds great but it is so very stressful having a kid who wants to learn everything like yesterday and I just read about the 5am club, but now I’m like, wake up earlier, work more, do more, it’s always more and I’m just tired. Well I guess my rant added to your rant, but know that you aren’t alone and your support meant so much to me today. Ok back to cleaning the kitchen before the kids swimming lessons. 😩 Thank you for everything 🥰

I hear you! Thank you for sharing. Sometimes it’s so hard, even more so with accelerated learners, but worth every second. There are seasons that are just fun and joyful too. It all balances out and is absolutely worth it ❤️

Boy your video hit home. Ifeel guilty working full time and homeschooling on weekends and weekday evenings, I feel guilty we don't do more like field trips, travel, extra curriculars etc... Also a couple times in the past two years (customs officer and teacher at school where kids go for gym and art) people have asked my kids what their parents do for fun. My kids know my husband works on cars, me they have no clue. They say all I do is work and homeschool. I thinks its good the kids see how hard we work (even though they see I am tired) but they don't see me taking any time to do any hobbies or personal interests.

Oh man, what a good point. I wonder what my kids would say if asked that question? We really need to make time for fun for OURSELVES… yet another thing that I will find a way to feel guilty about 😜

Oh my! Let me just tell you I feel so deeply some of the anxiety and worry! I am at home with my son and working. He’s 2 and I always get so wrapped up in is he getting enough stimulation? Is he happy? He spends his time watching a very amazing educator on television but still I feel badly because I want him to have friends. In this season I want another baby 😢. I’ve been trying to really pray this fear of the unknown out! I don’t have a village of women who have marriages and multiple children so it’s really just me going of what I’ve seen growing up. Which is single mommies carrying everything alone.

I deeply envy those with a village. Sometimes I feel this deeply. It’s hard and only increases my guilt, so instead I try and remember that while having a village would be nice, I (and you) am strong and capable. The hard things only make that more true. I’m sure your son is lucky to have you. Just being aware enough to question ourselves shows that we are deeply invested in and love our children.

Very relatable. There are just too many things to do to keep everything going so the fun stuff often falls off my plate. And to you and @heidikennedy8206 if someone asked my kids what I do for fun they would 100% say shop for or plan new curriculum and do laundry. Ha!

I wish laundry was fun enough to count as a hobby 😁
