In today's video I am sharing with you the aftermath from my homeschool room end of year cleanout! Here is where I am at now...before adding the final touches for the upcoming year! I want to share with you how I store and organize our homeschool curriculum and resources! I like to keep think simple and some might call it "minimal," just how I like it! We don't use a homeschool room either. Less is MORE. I do have many built in bookshelves downstairs in our semi finished basement😉 less clutter for me keeps my mind clear.

I’m a minimal homeschool mom too. I’m schooling my last one who is in HS. For one student, we don’t require a lot. I put everything in an armoire and close it up at the end of our school day. She schools all over the house. It works for us! Love your channel! ~Blessings 🌺

We have a finished basement and use it as a extra family/living room/playroom/school room. We have no money to update our homeschool room at the moment so it's such a hodgepodge of hand me down stuff. I HIGHLY recommend getting a GOOD pencil sharpener. Don't try and go cheap. Every "cheap" one we have gotten either eats our pencils or dies before we get halfway through the year.

Do you have a video about all of your Bible study things? I am trying to get more of that in our lives. We have the Indescribable book and we love the Jesus storybook Bible. I have been looking at the not consumed ministry things but was a little overwhelmed by that😂

@@SimplyLivingIt that would be so awesome. Thank you!! I don’t stress too much. I’m pretty fly by the seat of my pants. But this subject is something we need more of. I am fairly new to having an actual relationship with God and understanding my faith. I was raised very “religious” but it was a very check the box situation. I want my kids to understand the word and know how to have a relationship with God. Anyway that was a bit rambly! I would appreciate a video sharing what you do. Our teaching styles seem very similar and our boys seem a lot alike too. All about the outdoors over here!!

Ha ha! We are so much alike in our book organization! my shelves look similar and aren't SUPER organized. The books are just roughly categorized together and easy to find.

Our home is 800 sqft and that includes the basement! Basement is laundry and storage, that's it. We use each room in our house depending on what we are doing and how we are feeling. We have chalkboards painted on one living room wall and in the oldest two boys room. We usually use our kitchen for individual subjects. For our science and history, we are outside (weather permitting). The boys do their personal reading with us sometimes in their bedrooms, sometimes outside. My 7 year old usually does his spelling tests while jumping on our outdoor trampoline (ADHD anyone else?). Only room we don't use for homeschool is our bathroom lol. We store curriculum that is currently being used, in bins from Michael's for each boy. I have a 3 drawer system for art supplies. Pencils and brushes are on our counter, easy to access for anyone. I store what isn't being used right now in storage boxes in our basement. The boys have their books in their room....except the books they have out grown or are not ready to read yet. Science and History are in one Beautiful basket that I got from target (it's material and maybe like $30 but so worth it). I don't bring out science or history books unless they are applicable to our current units. Keeps my boys focused. For your night light "space" you could put puzzles or trays etc that are low profile. Can use the space and not block the light. Also, I know I asked before but oh my gosh where is your orange tank top from? So lovely.

Ok I’m going to sound really dumb! How do you tell when someone replied to a comment you make? I’ve been on RU-vid awhile but I’ve never noticed if anyone has ever replied to one of my comments. Also, are you doing the good and the beautiful along with Rebecca spooners curriculum? I bought her Bible study and journaling books. I originally bought some masterbooks, easy grammar, & daily grams. But I’ve since added easy peasy math because I didn’t like the masterbooks and the easy peasy language arts. I’ve also subscribed to teaching textbooks. I struggle in English and so does my daughter. Where most seem to be intimidated by teaching math it’s English that keeps me up at night. I’m looking for more. For something that is self explanatory for us both to learn and something that breaks it down for us. I’m wondering if TGTB and Rebecca Spooner’s would work better for us? I want to keep her on grade level only because she hasn’t decided if she wants to go back to our local small community county school for high school. Seeing now how homeschool is I would give anything for the opportunity to go back and have the choice to homeschool all my kids from kindergarten on. I feel like I missed out on so much with them. And I could have protected and shielded them from so much. My other kids have done well and thrives in public school. My oldest graduated with honors & scholarships for college. She was also Miss WHS her senior year. All 3 of my older kids were also chosen as hall of fame at our school. That’s a huge honor! Along with all of them being in multiple clubs. My 2nd daughter was salutatorian of her class. I have been truly blessed with very intelligent children and I’m so thankful for that! But I see where we have missed out on so much precious time that could have been all ours! And I could have kept them from learning all the things I didn’t want them learning and from being bullied. All of them at some point were the object of a bully. They say to expect that and it’s normal in public school and they need to learn to deal with bullies. I don’t see why because as adults we don’t put up with that. If you have time I’d love to know what you think about TGTB & Rebecca Spooner’s curriculum for us. I’ll check the comments in this video from time to time because that’s the only way I know to tell if someone has replied. 🤷‍♀️

It's looking great so far! Can't wait to see what changes you make from here. I always feel like we have so much "stuff" for homeschool, but then I watch other videos with the full homeschool rooms and realize I don't really have much in comparison and, honestly, I don't think I'd want a dedicated room for homeschool. I like using the little space we have and utilizing the couch and floor and outside.

I just bought a battery operated pencil sharpener! I was so excited, then it didn't work well. 😒 I think its well worth it to buy an actual electric one. My fingers kill me after sharpening all the color pencils. So much art happens with my girls 😍

YES, mama! You got this! Can you do storage bins??? Do you have an extra shelf in a closet you can utilize? Maybe purchase an "art cart" (the black cart with wheels) or two? Those work great and make plenty of extra storage!

@@SimplyLivingIt figured it out. Took wall shelf down added a simple table for coffee station. Microwave from bakers rack to counter. Now bakers rack will be homeschool station, more shelves, larger easier to organize! Thanks for all of your wonderfully supportive comments!!💖

Hi im a first year homeschooling mama and it can sometimes be overwhelming, but looking at you who has been doing this for 9 years gives me a lot of courage and confidence, thank you😊We also using a section in our lounge area as our homeschooling area and it is really better to have less than too much.

Hello, I have a question.. Have u ever bought a homeschool curriculum u couldn't understand how to teach. I spent about 3 GRAND on Abbeka curriculum & decided to begin with the easiest: the kindergarten work. Oh brother 🤦 I know how to read & write the English language but this curriculum u gotta be a nuclear engineer 2 work with this system

Also remember Abeka is written for the classroom, not homeschool.

I’m going to be trying to allow us to just be comfortable around the house this year while we homeschool. It’s my second year homeschooling and I feel like I’m going into this year with so much more of a realistic outlook on how the school year will go. 🤣 Last year I was way too concerned about doing it all “the right way” but we struggled to just sit at the table the whole time. Excited to see how this year will go differently!
