Yes!!! My 9th graders needed more time in pre algebra so we didn’t start algebra until last month. My 5 year old is doing 2nd grade reading and math, but she is definitely a kindergartner. The best thing I was ever told was that grade levels were constructed to manage large numbers of children. My high schoolers are definitely not ready for dual enrollment.
As to the dual enrollment, it also affects scholarships over a certain number of hours. My daughter is a junior and is looking at a full ride. We also live in a state where she cannot take college classes for free, so why would we want to pay for them now to get them out of the way early? We've just worked on upping her ACT score, well rounded transcripts and it's a much better outcome for her in our situation.
