I Have Found the SECRET to Homeschooling HIGH SCHOOL
I think the most daunting thing for most homeschool parents is homeschooling high school! It is kind of scary and seems almost impossible. I have been researching and praying and trying to figure out the best way to homeschool my high schooler, and I think I have finally figured it out! I'm so excited to share this secret with you! Hope you enjoy!

I’m totally on the same page as you with starting out with boxed curriculum to CM family style books for elementary/middle and back to the idea of independent boxed or online courses for high school! Ha! ❤

I started researching high school when my oldest was in 7th grade. I developed a system for myself and knew what was required or expected... by 9th grade, it was EASY BREEZY. I highly recommend Lee Binz as a resource for this stage of homeschooling. Next year, I'll have a 9th and 11th grader :)

So funny! I found your channel years ago when you used HOD and we switched from HOD to TOG because i couldn't handle 3 elementary guides. We just switched back to HOD 16 weeks ago and it's been AMAZING! Still running three guides (MTMM, Res to Ref and Preparing) but they are mostly independent.

Every baby and every family is different. I honestly think the first baby is the hardest breaking into being a parent. For some reason each kid we had felt easier as they played together.

I did something similar with Notgrass. I used world history, but from Adam to us, and did it with ALL my kids (6th, 8th, and 9th). My 9th grader just had a bit more world history work.

Thanks for this review. We are on the precipice for next year and I have to make decisions. Also, just an encouragement to share and I’m sure you already know. There are no “requirements” in our state that apply to homeschool students to graduate: We are building our plan based on what the kiddos think they want to do. For example, since they both think they’re college bound we looked at a couple of college websites (Malone and Cedarville) to see what they are looking for from homeschool students. This has been really helpful as I choose curriculum for high school next year. 😊

Can u please share what state you're in? I'm in NH and NH has begun the process of changing our homeschool laws this week. If it passes, well be the strictest state in the US. Seems every couple years NH has become less and less friendly towards homeschoolers. That, coupled w the insane cost of living has us researching other states to relocate to.

I am in Massachusetts. Amazingly, there are no requirements for graduation for homeschoolers. We have requirements, but not for graduation. It is left up to the parents.

I love HOD SOOOO much! This is our first year using it, and after going through so many other curricula, I feel like we’ve FINALLY found the one. My daughter (the caboose) is doing Revival to Revolution this year, but I’m looking forward to the high school years now. Thanks for the awesome channel and for your honest thoughts and review.

We use ACE. It is biblical and GREAT for homeschooling all the way through K-12! Even college credits for math and science! My son is going into 8th grade this fall. Homeschooling going into the third year.

Is CLE not good for algebra? I noticed you use something different now. Was just curious what level you go to with CLE and if it’s not good beyond the 700 or 800 series?
@ourthriftyhomeschool
@ourthriftyhomeschool 4 месяца назад
I don’t know. I just had heard that most people went a different direction for the upper levels of math, so they was always my intention. We have used up to Math 700 so far and have really been impressed with it! My oldest wasn’t the strongest in Math, so she needed something a little different for Algebra, so we went with Denison Algebra and it’s been exactly what she needed.

We started CLE Algebra after using CLE since level 4. Something was just....different. it felt like it didn't explain what the concept they were learning meant. Instead just went straight into HOW to do it rather than explaining what the concept was, then how to. We love CLE, but Algebra 1 just felt like something was off. My son switched to Mr D once we determined CLE may not work. My other son is still willing to give CLE Alg a try (since we own it and he does not like video based lessons), because we really enjoy the format of cle booklets

Hey I'm a new homeschooling mom well I will be next year. Kindergarten how hard is it?
@ourthriftyhomeschool

Kindergarten is not difficult! It’s precious! Keep it fun…read a lot of good books. 📚 personally, I would find a good curriculum to introduce reading and basic math and then just read read read. ❤️ Just don’t over complicate it! 😉

I totally agree!!! Read, read, read, read! I’m finishing up our last child homeschooling this year. This will be our last graduation in late July/early August. We did all five of our children from Preschool through HIGHSCHOOL!!! All got into the colleges of their choice. All have wonderful jobs/careers! It all started with tons of reading, talking and basic math and of course God! Homeschool is a lifestyle not just isolated learning!
