It’s difficult when you’re completely alone, without a partner. But it makes you stronger I think

Hey there. I'm an international student. I've come to Toronto for 7 months. Everything seems good in the beginning. Nevertherless, I have felt homesick recently. I found your video while I was searching How to deal with homesick. Living alone abroad is not easy for me in term of emotion even though I'm an introvert. Even though I mentally prepare for myself in advance, it's kinda tough to deal with homesick in reality. Once, I woke up in the morning, I thought that I'm lying on my bed in my home. Then few seconds later, I realized that I'm in Canada.. I miss my mom, my sister, brother so bad. I think this is also a good experience in my life. I know how much family is important. Anyway, I'm still homesick

Hey Peekapoo! I'm an international student here in Toronto and I came here in my second semester in late January. The time I've been here, the province has continually been in lockdown. I had no friends when I came here, I knew no one in the first 14 days of quarantine, so I kept in touch with family back home. Even after that, I had no friends for about a month. In the starting, I admit I felt lonely as I saw other groups of friends going out for walks. But here, I noticed something. What I say next may be a bit different than usual, but it seems to me that we can either be: alone but not lonely, or lonely but not alone... It's on us... Now I've been more of a solitary person my entire life, as in, I find enjoyment in being with myself. And so I thought to myself, "Hey!, you're in a new country, new environment, there's so many new sights to see, why not enjoy yourself the way you did back in India?" And I swear, just thinking that has drastically changed the way I look at things now. Yes, I have friends now, and we hang out a couple of times a week. BUT, the time that I spend with myself, I would deem that far more valuable to me. This solves the issue of homesickness for me too. I have problems with food here because I'm vegetarian, but I've been able to find Indian restaurants which mimic Indian taste almost identically. All in all, I term this a very unique experience, lets think onto the future in good spirits, because this is a great place to be!

Being the only child , losing my parents within a span of 2 years , 25 years back was the hardest thing for me to cope with . So I can imagine how you must be feeling being away from yours . But just remember one thing that you can meet them if not this year maybe the next and you can talk to them or even see them on video call. So be positive and be thankful to God and pray for the well being of your loved ones. Take care !!! ❤️

Hi, I am a student in Australia. You have your husband with you. Imagine the life of international students. 🥺 Australia has strictly said they won't open borders till 2023. At least you have PR you can go and come back to Canada again (which is there for Australian PR/Citizen) We International students in Australia are stuck in prison. 😫 Moreover, we have loans on top of our heads. We work at restaurants to manage daily expenses. We live in a sharing house. We do cooking cleaning everyday. We can't afford to uber eat every day. I am 26 years old. I am very close to my family 😔 it's been 1 n a half years for me as well. AND the worst part is: I EVEN DONT KNOW WHEN WILL I BE ALLOWED TO GO. If I would have known then it's okay, in December you can go and visit your fam and can come back, then I can prepare my mind for 6months. to out that to I can't 😫 I can feel you. 😭

I genuinely think, that this type of videos is the best. I've lived abroad with my family for 10 years and now I'm not with them back at my home country. No one is talking about the real cons of moving abroad. I think it is very important to show this side especially to people who have never lived abroad. Your videos just keep on getting better and better. 😄

I wish I was in Toronto atleast could have meet with you shared my feelings. I am homesick by nature and first time I came abroad with my husband. I am in Calgary right now it’s so so cold. I started feeling homesick just after coming here and started dealing with depression and anxiety and I even left my job which I got Canada . I don’t even have friends. I don’t feel like making friends.I don’t have job now. I miss everyone there in Kolkata India. Although I am not permanent here still can’t manage my emotions. I immediately want to run away with my husband back to Kolkata. But he is doing a fellowship here and he also feels good here and he doesn’t feel homesick which makes me even more sad. That he can’t resonate with my feelings. I feel horribly lonely. I was the happiest soul in Kolkata

That same night when I called her, she said she felt fine the whole day and was recovering. Loneliness affects the rich and the poor. I have been in Australia for the past few years and go to India each year to see my mother. Every trip back to Aus is met with tears and depression for the first week. It’s just tough and never ending. As you said, I keep asking is it all worth it? And if I do go back, would it still be all worth it? The only person who has the answer is my future self. He might tell me if what I did was right.

Omg!! I bawled my eyes out🥺🥺🥺 I’ve been in Toronto for the last 5.5 years and have seen my family only once since then. Last time I saw them was 3 years ago and it makes me cry every time I think about them. I miss my parents l, my grandparents and everyone else. They’re getting old and I’m not spending that time with them. I can imagine what you must be going through. I am here all by myself and it just makes me so emotional every time I think about my family back home 😢

Why don't you visit them more often? Or invite them?

@@bhavikashah8221 As Pooja said too, this shouldn’t discourage you and it’s not that I’m unhappy. I am in a good place, a better country but yes that empty feeling will be there but it is what it is. Not for a single minute I regret my decision to move to Canada.

Aaaw honey bunny! Hugs to you. And thanks for sharing this very informative video. I know homesickness is something big I'll have to deal with when I move to Canada. The two major issues I pick from you are: that my relationship with my fam will change (I absolutely don't want that to happen) and that being away from my family will be a long-term thing not just a little vacay. Pilau is a very popular dish in East Africa!

I feel you darling 🤗 I immigrated to Canada by myself. It's tough. I miss my family so much. I try to video call my family everyday these days. I hope that Covid can go away soon and we can all visit our families ❤️ Thanks for all the great tips!

Hi Pooja , I only started looking at your videos about three weeks ago and I’m hooked on them...I started from when you arrived in Canada until this one ( miss out some in between) I love your cheerfulness... I do understand how you feel because I’ve gotten Covid and was in hospital and after was is in isolation for a long while and still don’t come out because I’m so scared to be out there...I didn’t see my parents going in three months... I video call but it’s not the same so I could just imagine how you feel 🙏 and I’m very happy you shared it with us... love you guys 🥰❤️🙏
