If I ever win the lottery, I will make the largest Homeskoolin donation ever..then make my job to watch everyone HS episode 4 times....wait, I already did that... Uncle Larry, you are the best thing on RU-vid. You always take us somewhere and we grow as musicians...THANKS BUK!!! The car wash was fun...
Glad your exam was clear, Tom. Colon cancer took my dad at 64, who was too “smart” to get himself checked out. As a result, I’ve been getting mine regularly since I turned 40. The prep still sucks, but the exam is the best nap you’ll ever have. Take care of yourselves, kids.
They put you under with that Michael Jackson stuff and it is wonderful. When I woke up in recovery, according to a nurse, I was singing “Summer Wind” by Frank Sinatra. I told her I had never heard Summer Wind. So apparently that stuff affects the space-time continuum too.
Uncle Larry, I appreciate every note, every story, every advice... No bullsh!t, no falsehood or hipocrisy, just sincerity and sttraight to the point. Oh and some irony and jokes too. Thank you.
When I see a new Uncle Larry video I immediately stop what I’m doing and put on a big smile and enjoy the great music and commentary!! This was a particularly awesome video from the killer breakfast story to the colonoscopy to the Pantera thing to the studio trouble !
I felt that open E string while you played the 5 and 6 of that chord, man... I love that! I try to sneak in some open strings whenever I can, thanks to you and Andy Timmons
Old friend of mine's bride walked down the aisle to this opening song. What made it really gut wrenching is that we all knew she had cancer and she only had a few months to live and yet they still happily married each other. Beautiful rendition. I thought of them and that day at their wedding.
Your patience is astounding. There is no other musician pulling this stuff off with such grace and depth. You are a wellspring flowing - and it's the pure stuff. Inexhaustible. Thank you, sir!!
I distinctly recall when you told that Reed Arvin story back in the early days of Homeskoolin’. It’s a memorable story, underscoring a truth we should never forget: while some hills aren’t worth dying on, others will swallow your soul if you don’t die on them. It’s a matter of keeping your musical integrity intact. Good on you, Tom, for fighting the good fight.
An expensive guitar played by a priceless musician. What else do you need to get by. Love you uncle Larry! Seasons greetings from the rainy Netherlands
cant stop listenin to this opening SW piece man [ i still listen to 'light up the eagle' Ep opener contanlty also ] gratitude & respect for sharing yr work man!!
Man the way music pours from Uncle Larry is enchanting. Awesome stuff - I feel over the course of watching you I understand what your sound is more and more - I feel that's a tiny step of a lifetime of study to get to this level.
Thanks for the Stevie. Beautiful. Delightful. Touching. Soulful. You are a player what's got both soil and soul. Talking Buk made me laugh. TB and FFF are two of the greatest records ever. In fact, I don't know why the astounding Fulfillingness' First Finale isn't more touted than the perfectly fine Key of Life.
Have always loved the Art Garfunkel cover of that on his Breakaway album. _This_ cover hits me in that spot too ... evocative, atmospheric. Our Uncle Larry.
Really nice! Great song and album. Wore it out when I was a teenager. Still listen to it and his others. Now I'm going to play it Buk style. Thanks man!!
The sound of those chords sets the mood, and immediately transports the listener to a different place. I’ll be playing that back again. Thanks for the lesson and for all that you share. Perfect way to start my day.
Epic, epic, epic episode. Put a marker on this one for the greatest hits later on. Filled with laughter, sorrow, life lessons and ALSO good guitar tips! Thanks man!
I love the intros. Reminds me of doing work with Plexi Soul playing in the background. Uncle Larry, it seems what might be your heroes have really just become friends. Vince, Blake, Gwen, Joe Vitale, Joe "Walsh", Gordon... People who know what the word "friends" means.
You just explained that little bit of theory so very well - you are one smart sob. Stuff I kind of already know, kinda, but you just made it feel like home. What I wouldn't give to be able to do a Vulcan mind meld on you. Thanks.
Thanks for your service in bringing back the boogie! And I'm late in saying, but the Esquire boogie from a couple days back was one of my favorites. I've been on an NRBQ tear lately and I felt the "Owl" vibe throughout.
Thanks Larry. For reminding people who Stevie Wonder is. A master of melody. Frampton recorded the song on his Frampton's Camel album. But I could tell that you were going with the original version. Awesome lesson. It went by so fast. Hit Rewind...
What a beautiful song!! That one will be playing in my head all day! Another gem for the next album. 🥰 Every episode is an adventure, and most are treasures. Once again … thank you!
I waited until almost 60 to do my colonoscopy. Other than drinking that bowel cleanse juice, the procedure was just a nice nap. Luckily, all was great. Unfortunately, this year i got hit hard with Diverticulitis and ended up getting a piece of my colon cut out. Still recovering. Homeskoolin' episodes really helped keep my spirits up. Larry, you're my colon doctor! I've met a few heroes (even got to play with a few) and so far, they've all been very cool.
Thanks Tom! Pantera with your ass doctor! Too funny. You’re always keeping it so real and funny as hell. I think I would love to meet you ( my hero). Hahaaa… stay cool
Speaking of boogie....I just watched Little Feat live in Germany in 77 with Paul Barrere and Lowell George...now that's some boogie. Billy Payne is a monster keyboard player. It had been a while since I listened to those guys and I loved them.
Oh my… I LOVE me some Feats! Original Little Feat with Lowell is the shit. Always thought Waiting For Columbus is one of the all time best live albums. Cheers, Bro!
I saw them in 78 in DC with John Hall, Bonnie Rait guesting on a few tunes. Tower of Power horns. Opened with Skin It Back, one of my favorite tunes. Right up there with the best shows I've seen.
@@jimm3338 Skin it Back IS a great tune. Used to cover it in an eclectic band I was in called The Ducktape Messiahs. The groove in that song between Ritchie Hayward is n drums and Sam Clayton on congas is insane.
Uncle Larry, I cannot express how much I appreciate your channel. Listening to your awesome playing is so inspiring as a guitar player and your tips on improving are exactly what I need to expand my thought process and ear training. I’m always looking forward to new posts from you. Thank you.
Damn, Uncle Larry, I Believe was such a treat. What a joy to hear you play that song. Just beautiful. Thanks, Bro. I love those old Stevie Wonder records. I had them all as 8 tracks! Good to hear your test went well. Like you say, it's a relief.
The Homeskoolin family has definitely helped me through a lot over the last few years. Nothing beats a new episode and a cold beer after a long day...Love hearing the funny stories and seeing the love you have for your sweet boys. Keep on keeping on Larry! 🍻
I believe when I fall in love this time it will be forever Beautiful playing Tom. How auspicious it is that songs come into our head at the perfect time. Ask yourself what gift this celestial song is presenting to you. You have the chops to access all. Now what?
Simply sublime. I heard Fast Car melody at the end of the intro... and also in yesterday's episode with the Boogie intro. ...I will get up early tomorrow, Fast Car will be in my head!
Thanks Buk for the public service message bout the ass Dr experience ,glad all is well and have some good times at Pantera concert ! Great content as always man ...
Uncle Larry, telling some of your life stories is very encouraging. Today's gives courage to stand up for what you believe in. Now, about those "cloying" chords. You write such evocative music, what are some of the "Cloys" you have written. Learned a new word today!!!
Totally cool that you're willing to talk about your colonoscopy. You could actually be saving some lives there. Also, thanks for the S. Wonder tune, "I Believe" one of my all time favorites. Another one I love kinda in that vane is "He's Misstra No It All" from "Intervisions". And the vocabulary lesson is so important because it seems our vocabulary and our ability to articulate an idea is at an all time low.
The song "I Believe" was in the movie High Fidelity with John Cusack...I never realized that was Stevie Wonder...Uncle Larry you continue to unravel so much music for us...Thank you
Thanks for the colonoscopy reminder ... I'm glad yours was clear.❤ I would rather hear "annoying "bar blues than polifyia, although I too respect Tim Hanson for what he is doing
We lost two in our family on colon cancer , so i went to a colonoscopy . One of these polyps they found they had to check and send to specialists. Due to Holidays it took 3 weeks until i got the result. It was ok and i had no cancer , but these 3 weeks were terrible. Since then I went there every 3 years. Everyone around 50 should do so.
I thought you'd get my dry humor, with all your love for Monty Python and British things...Looks like ol' Dominic didn't get it either...@@501chorusecho
