Great video! Anna at the fermented homestead recently did a video about canning jelled bone broth. She puts a chicken foot in each jar when processing it and it still jelled when finished processing. Was a very interesting video with lots of information on the whys and hows of the jelling process.

Just so you know, Carolyn at Homesteading Family freeze dried her broth, and said when she rehydrated it the collagen wasn't damaged so it was still gelatinous. I figured since you already have a freeze dryer you might want to give it a try, plus then a quart jar on the shelf would hold a LOT and free up some space for other things.

I LOVE this video! Great breakfasts, I make the hashbrown casserole & the cobbler regularly, need to try the Dutch baby that way it looks yummy. I’ve been craving pear butter but didn’t get any put up last fall. A local market has pears for 99 per pound so I’ll make a mini batch this week. Very interesting about the honey, never knew it could ferment; glad you could still make use of it. I use chicken feet but always just a couple along with bones & meat … does the broth with only feet still have good chicken flavor? Your sweet Hannah is adorable, that first shot her she looked so much like her Daddy 🤗. What an awesome gift that sheep skin is! Hope everyone has a great week

Thanks for another enjoyable video. I appreciate your time to give us these videos with your busy family. You help show people how to not be wasteful with food and the versatility in dishes (ie: leftover sloppy joe) and gosh do we live in a wasteful world. We had some honey get fermented, it was b/c of being in a warm room, honey really should be kept in cool space (basement). In joining with the pantry challenge, I'm doing your "empty 7 jars and fill 7 jars"...mostly chicken breasts and pork we need to get out of the freezer and that will be a great quick grab in the summer to top on our garden salads as a main meal lunch.

I used organic milk, organic yogurt and after cooking, cooling I put everything in a quart jar. I did bring milk to proper temp and then put in fridge. Oh…, ok…mine looked like yours….

If you insulate around your hive it will keep your bees warmer, and they will need extra feeding as food is scarce. add a bottle sugar water with a slow drip and sugar patties in the top of hive where they can easily access it and between the food and heat uou might be successful.

In the Philippines they fry them kind of like Cracklin‘s they do remove the toenails but pretty much they’re just chicken feet and my husband said they were delicious course he served in the military for 22 years in the Navy so he has tried things that we were just here in the states we just think you yuck but he says are actually quite good he said reminded him of Cracklin‘s so I can see there being made into broth they would be absolutely awesome

Hello 3 Rivers... there is a home- steader in Alaska who "wraps" her beehives in 2" thick styrofoam insulation panels leaving a hole near the entrance to the hive so that the bees can discard any dead bees. She basically makes a box to surround the hive. She also makes a "fondant" for the bees to feast on if she harvested too much honey. I'm sure there are RU-vid channels that can help you find how to over winter your hives. Little miss Hannah is getting big. I love how your children are so eager to help. Till next time.

Do you have any recommendations on how to cut meal costs without throwing in a ton of starch like rice and pasta? You can let it cool a little and will see it separate then I skim the top. They also sell “fat separators” that look like a measuring cup/watering can. It allows the fat to come to the top but for you to fill jars from the broth on the bottom of the cup

Jessica, I fully understand why you must be a dairy free family, please understand my question that I have been wondering for a while. My question is… do you ever periodically re-test if allergies are still present And do you know if any of your other children have them as they aren’t allowed in their diet. How will your son adjust when he’s off to college when you have managed his diet for him all his life, does he have to skills and knowledge to keep him safe?

I dont know their version was with fermented honey or not but they served it in shots, water honey and some kind of liquor. It very well could have been the fermented honey and water. I thought it was horrible and didnt like it, every one else loved it lol, i just dont like alcohol
