Here's some more!! - The bucket scene from deltarune ch 1 - The Pyrope enemy from undertale - There's an NPC in MTT Resort that looks suspiciously like jade (edit: not undertale but i think it's funny, toby fox used a The Baby Is You melody for one of his pokemon tracks)

When I started reading Homestuck and got to that one Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff comic where Sweet Bro says "GOD DAMN!" in two separate panels, it instantly reminded me of Rouxls Kaard saying "GOD DAMN IT" in two separate dialogue boxes also I really like the design of your persona !!

I would also like to point out that the way Queen's dialogue is written looks like Kanaya's quirk! (though i think thats already kinda obvious)

how could you forget something so damning as most of the separate areas in Undertale looking like the planets in Homestuck? Ruins = Derse Snowden = LOFAF Waterfall = LOWAS Hotland = LOHAC New Home = Prospit

When it comes to Homestuck, I was always under the impression that Megalovania was Aradia's song, but for some reason everybody attributed it to Vriska. Not sure how much of a confirmation it is, but in Pesterquest Aradia's theme "yeah, it is." also consists of fragments that are, honestly, stated to be Megalovania., so

"Black is one of the best Toby Fox songs. Even if you don't like Homestuck, please listen to it." Could not possibly agree more. My absolute favorite Toby Fox song, hands-down. Based video already. I think Vs. Susie from Deltarune might actually have a motif from Black in it, but it's super short, so it's hard to tell if it's an intentional parallel or not.

There's also that part when Lancer tried to intimidate the Fun Gang by putting a bucket with a spade on it in front of them. {Susie: What the hell is up with the bucket, though? Lancer: It's to put the blood in.} The first thing that came to mind were the pails trolls would use to carry their genetic material in to help reproduce the troll species.

I also think it's worth mentioning the resemblance between LoWaS (John's Planet) and Waterfall, also LoHaC (Dave's Planet) and HOTLAND. Dave's especially makes sense considering Another Medium (the track that plays in Hotland) is probably a reference to the mediums from Homestuck. Took me years to figure that one out (mostly because I didn't read Homestuck for ages after playing Undertale like 50 times).

There's a couple visual references to Homestuck. The Ruins are modelled after Derse, a city in purple. Snowdin is modelled after Land of Frogs and and Frost (i think it was called that?). Hotland resembles Dave's planet a lot, too. A bunch of lava, red floor and machinery? Waterfall also resembles Land of Wind and Shade. Blue, full of water, full of trash. The judgement hall where you go and Sans is at the end of the game is extremely similar to Prospit. Not sure if all of those were intentional but it would make sense to me as a little reference. Because, these locations have their own special quirks so they're not the exact same.

I absolutely cannot believe that sans theme was not originally made for sans. It just fits him so perfectly. I wonder what homestuck character it was intended for? I'm thinking maybe Equius simply because the word "muscle".

To clarify something about the Smash version of MEGALOVANIA, it does have a connection to Homestuck's MeGaLoVania, but not in the way you might think. The Vriska motif isn't present, but that's really what makes Homestuck's version stand out from the Halloween Hack's, as well as Tensei's electric guitars. Naturally the guitars are present in SSBU as well, but if you pay attention to both Homestuck and SSBU, there are multiple motifs in the end portion of each - for Homestuck, Spider's Claw, Sunslammer (representing Aradia in a roundabout way as it somewhat evolved into a theme for Timebound in my eyes) and The La2t Frontiier (representing Sollux's visions coming to pass). SSBU has the extra guitar bit too, but uses the Heartache and Nyeh Heh Heh motifs to represent the characters closest to Sans. SSBU's version is to Undertale what Homestuck's is to the Halloween Hack.

11:39 just so ya know. The guitar in the end smash megalovainia are actually are playing toriel and papyrus' leitmotifs. That being said I can see how tou would draw some paralells.

Patience, a unused song for Homestuck, is almost identical to Another Medium. And seeing that mediums in Homestuck are... Well you get it, Hotland is definitely a reference to Homestuck, and possibly more specific LoHAC

2 things in deltarune you missed! when you leave the dark world in chapter one there is a scalemate in the supply closet, also there is a bucket with a heart on it! aaron from undertale is inspired by equius/arquiusprite, pyrope takes inspiration from tz.

The amount of idiots trying cope in reply to this is bizarre. It's not Vriska's theme. Vriska stole the limelight during Aradia's moment, her theme, it's literally confirmed in Homestuck later works it's is Aradia theme, Vriska's theme isn't Megalovania.

I was a HUGE undertale and deltarune fan back in 2018 and I still are. I recently started reading homestuck too but for the majority of the time that I was very into undertale I didn’t knew the connection and I genuinely didn’t liked the webcomic because it was “weird” and now, four years later I understood the heavy connection between the game and the comic and I feel like if I discovered it back in 2018 my jaw would’ve dropped

there's several more "explicit" references in both undertale and deltarune that I feel the need to mention since I think it's pretty cool that toby still seems to be a fan of the comic all these years later, some of these have been talked about by other people but some of them I thought of on my own one of the most frequently mentioned ones is the enemy Pyrope in hotland, which is not only named after Terezi Pyrope but also has her energetic personality and sharp grin, undertale Pyrope also appears to lack any limbs but still wears shoes, which reminds me of Terezi's signature red sneakers, its body is made of rope presumably as a reference to Terezi and her ancestor's habit of hanging people, its head is a fireball which reminds me of Terezi's lusus, and it doesn't seem to have any eyes and, much like Terezi herself, is likely blind because of that there's also the enemy Aaron from waterfall that is more of a general nod towards the Zahhaks instead of a direct copy of their personalities, since it's a horse creature that likes flexing and sweats a lot, it's also interesting that Aaron and Temmie have unique dialogue if they spawn in a fight together, since Equius' most prominent relationship is with Nepeta who's also associated with cats and eary furry internet culture, and even more interesting that in undertale the two monsters seem to have the complete opposite relationship then there's Migospel in the hard mode, who's clown theme and honking might be inspired by Gamzee, Migospel's dialogue especially reminds me of murderstuck and a lot of the stuff after it, even the name origin and early concept art seem to be a reference to the Makara family, its laugh might also be a reference to Lil Cal another pretty obvious one in my opinion is the manticore in MTT Resort that straight up just looks like Jade, though it has more of a cat than a dog theme quick spoiler warning for this one but I think there's also a deliberate inspiration taken with the final bosses of both undertale and homestuck even beyond the short battle sequence with Davepetasprite (who also seems to be a reference to Frisk), both Asriel and Lord English are introduced to the viewer as immature childish entities with a thirst for violence, only to later turn into the God of Hyperdeath and Angel of Doubledeath respectively, they're also both associated with skulls and rainbows and are sometimes depicted with angel wings finally, the four main areas of the underground (the ruins, showdin, waterfall, and hotland) have some resemblance to the planets of the four main kids in homestuck, (LOLAR, LOFAF, LOWAS, and LOHAC) moving onto deltarune, the first thing a lot of people pointed out was Susie's habit of eating chalk, which also seems to be a reference to Terezi, but the thing that I personally noticed first was the card-themed enemies in the first dark world, obviously homestuck doesn't have a monopoly on card suit aesthetics and I'm aware that the designs were inspired by an actual custom set of playing cards, but I think it's interesting that the Ruddin enemies are spared by placating and being nice to them, Hathy is spared by flirting, Clover is spared by mediating between the three heads, and Lancer befriends the heroes through an antagonistic relationship that never includes him actually killing them, which is very similar to the structure of troll quadrants in homestuck, Lancer even gives the characters a bucket with a spade symbol on it the weapons system in deltarune, where every character can only fight with one kind of weapon reminds me of the strife specibus system in homestuck as far as the second chapter's concerned, the Tasque enemy speaks in binary code using meows, with its dialogue resembling the MEOW journal I also think that Queen's presence and role might've been slightly inspired by the Condesce, I thought of it almost immediately when first seeing Queen show up in her rocket throne, which reminded me of one of the first clear views we got of the Condesce, where she was also sitting on a throne, it's loose but the two of them have sort of a similar vibe, though Queen is obviously a lot more goofy this one is I think the least likely to be an actual intended reference but I think it'd be funny if it was, Spamton's dual color glasses, weird speech patterns, contradicting personality, and the fact you meet him in a dumpster reminded me of both Kuprum Maxlol and Cirava Hermod, Cirava switches between speaking in all lowercase and all caps a lot while Kuprum speaks in all caps, Cirava also has two VERY opposite sides to their personality and is prone to bursts of rage, Kuprum has his episodes a few times as well, he also meets the reader next to a dumpster and is generally just a smelly gabrage man, Cirava also has one pink and one (removed) green eye while Kuprum has one purple and one yellow, which could be what inspired Spamton's pink and yellow glasses, it's an even bigger stretch than the Queen/Condesce connection but toby worked on hiveswap so I think it's possible, I could also see Spamton's whole possessed puppet deal being a reference to Lil Cal

I heard Flowey’s laugh in The Lordling and immediately called Flowey a dork and or nerd. (I don’t remember I was dorking and or Nerding out)

Okay, I might sound like I’m crazy, but I was listening to Hopes and Dreams the other day, and I could’ve sworn I heard a lemotif for either Doctor or Savior of the Waking World. The timestamp for this is around 1:18 seconds into the song, where the beginning of Savior of the Waking World is played on piano. I think that’s pretty neat!

I'm jealous of how awesome your character looks. It's like if Kris was a cat in Homestuck, and was EMO. I love it. Wish i was talented like that. But at least I'm a passionate gamer :3

i actually had the exact same experience thinking i heard homestuck in smash bros megalovania only to listen closer and have trouble hearing it when i compared them side by side but the fact we both heard that has to mean i'm not crazy

Lancer's spade bucket in Chapter 1 is the same bucket shown used by trolls. Yikes...

i think i'm the only person in history to unironically think trickster mode is peak homestuck. and i am very proud of that fact.

also! in cyber field some of the pop-up things (the ones with the icons/the ones you have the virovirokuns shoot at them for fabulous rewards specifically) have this figure dancing and it has horns. there is nothing else with horns that i can remember or is relevant in chapter 2. my conclusion is obvious

2:51 Maybe it’s just me but BIG SHOT sounds very similar to Dave’s strife song. It wasn’t made by Toby Fox but the melody is really similar (the versus does have a similar motif to STRIFE, that’s why it’s also similar to BIG SHOT)

when playing chapter 2 of DR the green, purple, and yellow light puzzle pieces immediately made me think of the symbols of the life and light aspects and the purple/blue sgrub logo. i don’t know if that was intentional or not but i certainly recognized homestuck as soon as i saw them either way

Hey hi! This video is really good which is rare based on my nitpicks of most Undertale and Homestuck content These are both my special interests so it’s nice to see this! Anyways, a few things you missed are the npcs! There is an enemy named Pyrope in Hotland, and in the hotel there’s an npc who looks VERY VERY similar to Jade Harley! You could also argue that the “strong creepy horse guy” Aaron is an Equius reference :)

patient was a beta version of another medium which was a remix of doctor, which also could be a different meaning of the name, like a actual different medium, homestuck being a webcomic/book and undertale being a game.

I ADORE how one of the main melodies of spamton's theme is beatdown. I think that makes it THE most leitmotifed homestuck track other then maybe suburban jungle

another comparison i found fun to think about is that Hometown Day sounds super similar to Moonsetter, and after all these connections to homestuck its definitely hard to say that they aren't inspired so ye :P

Although Megalovania is THE song known for appearing in both, there's also another that's WAY more obscured and hard to notice. In Hopes and Dreams, during the Flowey theme segment, none other than PENUMBRA PHANTASM can be heard on piano in the right ear. This is kind of a wacky one but I think the yellow soul theme from the Omega Flowey fight feels like BL1ND JUST1C3: 1NV3ST1G4T1ON. Listen to 45 seconds in to BL1ND JUST1C3: 1NV3ST1G4T1ON. Justice, JUST1C3, same thing. Maybe the human wasn't a human at all, but Lemonsnout? I think there's a lot of odd similarities, too, like a character that's one body with two souls, one of which becomes a timeline-eating superdemon when they become dominant, and Deltarune is going the way of fighting against an unbreakable fate, you could also argue that the whole concept of dark worlds as interconnected fictionalized worlds where our main characters are prophesied heroes with magical powers, the introduction of which leads to the destruction of our world, is pretty functionally similar to the whole 'play sburb, enter the medium, end the universe, gain all the levels and make a new universe' thing in Homestuck, especially since we've had doubt cast on if the whole roaring knight prophesy is reliable.

Could i point out the fact that the terezis theme 1NV3ST1G4T1ON has very similar themes to the justice souls part of Your Best Nightmare? Cause i noticed it while i was playing on piano and it blew me away

There's also quite a few enemies and NPCs from undertale that are based on, named after, or references to HS characters. In that order examples I'd give would be -The NPC that looks like Jade in MTT Resort -The enemy Pyrope obviously named after Terezi Pyrope also sporting her signature smile -The secret enemy Migosp found in the Ruins in Hard Mode is a little clown bug with a shifting face, very reminiscent of Gamzee imo Then we have ALL the locales in UT being based off of (or at least suspiciously similar to) locations in HS - Ruins= Land of Light And Rain (this one's a bit of a stretch but work with me here, it's the only one*) - Snowdin= Land of Frost and Frogs - Waterfall= Land of Wind and Shade - Hotland= Land of Heat and Clockwork -The Core/True Lab= The meteor labs in The Veil where the Trolls hide for a majority of the comic - Asgore's Castle= The Battlefield (okay maybe this one is also a stretch but it still doesn't feel like a coincidence and the battlefield does have castles on it) I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of right now as someone who has both read HS multiple times and played UT multiple times (as you must for the full experience of both, I promise)

Speaking of undertale references in homestuck, there was another one in the homestuck finale: The many parts of the song "Oppa Toby Style", especially the intro around the 4:20 mark, sound near identical to "Death by Glamour"
