This is absolutely amazing. What you're all doing is a HUGE honor to Homeworld. The story telling of these battles and technical overviews of the ships is SPECTACULAR! This could be/should be cannon put straight into the game as legit content or something.

Okay and here is how the story really goes: the mothership jumped in and frigatters were baited out of position... and stolen.... and then destroyers were baited...and stolen... and sicne you cant steal carriers, the stolen ships blew that one up! :D

Bombers are awfully fragile in HW1. An attack frigatte can eat them up and even big ion guns can find their target. Having to fly straight at the enemy aint a good idea, ESPECIALLY in Cataclysm when they got glowing, tracking, ammo.... this spells the end for most small targets

Stop name dropping the Somtaw. Not only are they not canon (neither Relic nor BBI consider Cataclysm canonical even if most fans do) but you aren't name dropping Mannan or Paktu or Soban. The only reason to name drop when you're writing is to draw specific attention to something to do with the name drop, but that's not what you're doing with the Somtaw, you're dropping it in for the sake of dropping it in. Take this advice, or ignore it as you wish, it's simply meant as constructive feedback.
