@@babasheeny3634 yep, still, even that small circle is ready to fall apart, reason being money. I am from a family of attorneys, and I saw the most heinous tricks people did to their family, brothers, sisters etc., for inheritance money. Money is a necessary evil, we need it yet it can bring destruction. Sure it's nice to have it, but jealousy over it can lead to really nasty behavior. I don't mean killing, bc that is usually what I hear from America, in my country there are loads of other things people do. Number one rule is better not to even mention you have any, depending on who you talk to. I saw my own brother, who was always the black sheep, stoop low enough to steal from my parents, not just some money, it were family possessions and paintings of our ancestors, dating back at least 150 years. My parents did not call the police on him, gave him ultimatum instead to buy back the paintings at least. He did only one and some miscellaneous items no one probably wanted to buy, still my parents couldn't call the cops, bc he is their son. I must say though, I never saw my mom in such an angry state, all the shouting and swearing, but I don't blame her, I was pretty upset too, since he also put me in a very hard position one day, and was a bad brother towards me overall, since I am younger than him. He eventually got caught by the police bc of multiple loans he took out and never bothered to repay (the very hard position he put me in comes to mind). Was in prison for 3 months only, thanks to his brother and party father, that payed for the rest of his sentence. With the inflation coming (we're no where near its peak), you can draw that circle... around you. And with the looming war between Russia and Ukraine, the 90s2000s (best time of my life, so much fun and entertainment) are sooo far in the distance.

Liam knew her since the first grade! They were friends! It wasn’t even like they had a falling out with each other and had years of animosity towards one another. She probably trusted him implicitly. She probably thought she could count on him to protect her if anyone had tried to harm her. Instead, she had to look into his face and feel the enormous magnitude of his betrayal as she fought for her life. How truly awful. He had no decency at all. That is certainly the definition of depravity. How could her other friend participate? He was depraved too.

@@BurroGirl He was just very helpful, acted concerned (though he never showed true concern), was willing to do pretty much anything the police asked, and talked to them multiple times. I don't even think he lawyered-up or anything during all of the times he was brought in or when the cops dropped by to ask him questions. He didn't give the impression of a "guilty person", or at least not in an obvious way to me. If you do watch the Dateline episode, try keeping the perspective as if you didn't already know he was guilty. He pretty much had an answer or suggestion for everything he was asked. One of the few places where he kinda slipped was when he was asking the cops about how the water traveled and where a/her body might show up, if it did. Even in that instance it sounded more out of possible concern of hopefully being able to find her.

This story truly hurts my heart and turns my stomach. The darkness and Evil that human beings can have inside them can be so vile, perverted, and wicked I simply can't wrap my head around it. This is proof that there are people who are so soulless and void of morality, compassion, empathy, and remorse that they are no longer a person, but a predator without a conscious. How they live with themselves is beyond me. God, please shine your light in those of us who are losing the battle of letting evil in their hearts and minds🙏😓Amen.

Liam McAtasney stranged Sarah Stern for a half an hour. In all of that time before she died he could have changed his mind and stopped, but he didn't. It was monstrous and brutal on his part to kill supposedly one of his closest friends in such a way. Liam prolonged Sarah's suffering and even stuffed clothing down her throat and covered her nose. It's hard to think of a worse case of betrayal than this case. Not that it would have justified killing Sarah, but Liam didn't even have any mitigating factors going for him like a lot of other killers sometimes do. Liam didn't have known mental or emotional issues or money problems or some other troubling issue going on his life. My point is that Liam McAtasney is perhaps one of, if not the least sympathetic murderer there is.

Years ago I had a sociopathic psychotherapy client who shared with me details of some criminal behavior. What I found interesting was his failure to understand the risks in involving other persons in his plans. So many criminals are caught because they involve untrustworthy people in their plot or fail to keep their mouth shut before or after the crime. Fortunately in the case of this client the crime was a failed theft from a drug dealer that did not involve any harm to others. Is it our need for social inclusion that distorts an accurate risk assessment? In the case discussed here by Dr. Grande, a carefully planned crime was betrayed by an unnecessary and naive need to involve others in or to share the details with others. Speaking of unnecessary sharing, why did Sarah Stern discuss the shoe box with anyone else?

This case breaks my heart. In the confession to his buddy, I believe the guy who actually went to the cops, the murderer mentions that Sarah’s dog just laid there and watched him kill her, because the dog knew him well and didn’t see him as a threat. Then he complained about how long it took him to actually strangle Sarah to death, because he thought killing her would be fast. It makes me sick. I’ve lost two close friends and I would give anything to have them back, then you have monsters like this in the world who take the innocent people they call “friends” for granted and/or worse. RIP Sarah ❤️ nobody deserves that, especially not someone as kind as she seemed to be.

I wonder if Liam would have tried to kill Anthony Curry or even Preston Taylor if he thought he could get away with it. I think he would have. Liam was remorseless, heartless, cold, calculating, and he even seemed to be smiling at times as though he thought positively about what he did. Plus, in his confession, Liam talked about how he had patience. It really does seem like Liam could have become a serial killer if he hadn't been so careless. Its hard to pinpoint why Liam would actually go through with such a thing. Maybe Liam McAtasney is just bad egg. As for Preston Taylor, he kind of comes off as an unthinking yes-man. If Liam Mcatasney was the mastermind then Preston Taylor was the mini-mind. Preston was unlucky in a way since he had the misfortune of being influenced by Liam McAtasney to do stupid things. I think that under the influence of better people than Liam McAtasney, Preston could have been normal and not done stupid things.

Either forced or conned. For some reason I think being conned is even more horrendous faith than being under direct threat. Just like the serial killer (Ted Bundy?) who had prepred a _trick_ on how to release yourself from handcuffs. Once the victim couldn't understand how Bundy was able to escape from handcuffs, they sometimes wanted to try it by themselves. Once the victim got bored, they asked bundy to show how he escped. Then Bundy took a key from his backpocket, smirked and started to beat the helpless victim ruthlessly. Similarly being part of a robbery gang and having a live bomb attached to you to make counter offensives ineffective, then findingbout that your associates never intended on sharing the money with you, and further, they just decided to left you to die. Dying is bad, but sometimes I think that would be worse.
