The Hon'ble former President of India, Shree Pranab Mukherjee visited the mokshapuri Kānchipuram for a darshan of Jagadguru Shankarācharya. He had the soubhaghyam of witnessing the deepāradhana of the Shree Mahā Tripurasundari Sametha Shree Chandramouleeshvara yoga linga pooja that has taken place in this matha for 2500 years. The tradition, as the President knows, began with Shree Ādi Shankara Himself. Under the guidance of the Jagadguru, Shree Mukherjee offered flowers and took the blessings at the Adhistānams of Pujyashree Mahā Periava and Pujyashree Jayendra Periava. He had the honour of receiving thirtham directly from the Jagadguru and performed a pāda pooja to Shree Ādi Shankara's padukas.
