Awesome & thumbs up this was the only video that helped for my 2005 Honda. My button and the little black broken plastic pieces had popped out, so I ordered a new part. But in the meantime I could only go into Neutral and Drive which I could get around with but my keys were stuck in the ignition so I had to just park in Neutral with hand brake on. I can push the spring in to shift to N or D, but did not know that silver button inside could go down. I did know about the shift lock trick to get out of Park but that was not the problem. Once I watched this I went out and pushed that button down and could go into P or R, so this temp solved my problem until I install new one. Thank you!!!!!
Hi. I watched your video numerous times. So good! I was operating my shifter on my Honda Accord 2004, by pressing that metal piece, because the knob broke off awhile back. However, tonight I was not able to press that anymore. When I put my thumb in there to press that metal piece to go into reverse, it would not move. More plastic crumbled out and the metal piece appears damaged because I could no longer press it in. With all crumbled in there I could not even see the metal part anymore. Does that metal piece have to be intact and working to fix the shifter as you did because mine is now not functional at all. I hope you answer. I have been riding around pressing the metal piece for a long time because I was told it would be a major job to fix. Your video has really educated me. Thank you. --Jill
@@RBTheMechanic Thank you! Does that metal piece have to be intact and working to fix the shifter? That is how I was operating the shifter by pressing it with my thumb each time to shift. But now that piece is broken also. --Jill
I made a huge mistake and lost the two little screws on the shifter handle. Can you tell me the screw specs, please? Hopefully I can find something at the hardware store
What is that little white piece? I didn’t see one on mine, and I can’t get the shifter to STAY in a gear (or take the keys out) without taking the entire thing off. Please help if I can use something in place of it
Hey I'm having a heating problem with my Mom 2005 Honda accord with her heating. We changed a lot of things still no heat. Once in a while it will come on but 90% It doesn't work. Are you in NJ area?
@@RBTheMechanic I did not check that I have to look at the video again for the location. I'm about 30 mins from you how do I get in touch to drop it off so you can take a look at it?
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks bro. I notice my rear brake top middle light is out. I was thinking about replacing that light bulbs to see if it work. I replaced the brake switch already but nada. I notice that i did had a tps replaced as well from a mechanic and the shift did not happen like that before. He prob did something to it ,but that was about a year or so ago. calibration maybe? also the idle is like revving up and down that is why i took it in to the shop.
@@yubee512 Sounds like what happened to me. When the brake light burns out a shift lock happens and I was stuck in Park. I was like WTF because every time I started the car and tried to shift out of P it would be stuck and the engine would rev high. Searched the internet and found the screwdriver trick to shift it out of P. It's a stupid Honda feature to strand people like that over a dumb brake light. Once I replaced it though no more problems with it stuck in P. If not what happened to you maybe this helps others in that situation.
Hey Ralph Bob The Mechanic!, you should have left it like that. It would have been A PERFECT anti-theft device!!👍👍 Think about it?, get up in the morning, let the car warm up. They can't steal it!👍 Go grocery shopping (keep the car on), have the AC full blast! And all you do is lock the door! And just keep the button in your pocket!!👍👍😉🙃🙃
Lol good idea I remember when I was going to Lincoln tech for mechanic some kids had hatchback civic they always had ecm in their book bag and when they went to car they plugged it in and took off it was their safty
