Here in the U.S., an NSX with less than 5,000 miles, can be had for around $120,000. I was ready to shop for a slightly used one to lease or purchase this month but now that the convertible appears to be a sure thing (Honda recently filed a U.S. Patent for what is clearly a convertible NSX), I am not sure how to proceed. This is truly a special supercar and is once again the king of supercars that can truly be driven every day. The service schedule on this car is crazy simple and inexpensive. Coming from my 2010 Audi R8 Spyder, I am ready for something new and that is going to give the least amount of trouble yet still offer a lot of supercar drama (the good kind of drama).

I would think the Audi R8 would be rather trouble free? Love the V10 sound over this. Also the R8s interior is years ahead of a Honda. Also Mktotr Trend, Car and Driver, and Road and Track all had different NSX vehicle and all broke down. These are not known for there reliability.

Blake Swan You would think that they are trouble free, based on what?! The same engine in the R8, is also in the Huracan. Both have issues and expensive service schedules. I've been driving my R8 for almost a decade (when I’m in my home area). Suspension issues, only partly covered = $30k. Bad sensors, steering issues, and several other issues, all in the thousands out of pocket. Aside from the NSX, there is no true supercar (high-performance, sleek, low roofline, 2-seater) that can just be driven daily as in literally everyday, yet serviced like a Honda Accord. I had a 3-hour solo test drive in the NSX (dealer owner friend) and I was truly blown away. Before that day, the car was not even on my list. As for interior, that is highly subjective. Your opinion is not something I'm taking into consideration because I’m thinking about buying an NSX for me, not for you. And what exactly does “years ahead” mean? Have you actually been in either car personally? Sure the leather is not as nice, nor is the stitching and sure the AC is taken right out of the Honda lineup. Well here's the thing. The R8 AC is taken right out of the Audi and VW lineup but it hasn't been very reliable. Mine has gone out twice in less than 60k miles. Another very expensive repair. While considering upgrading to a 2018 R8 Spyder, I found that there are still some issues with the AC going out for some owners. The NSX is the future of supercars. No, really, it is. The Hybrid powertrain is what Ferrari is working on right now as is Lamborghini. The R8 in its current 2nd gen run, is its last run as an ICE vehicle. Audi is considering an all electric R8 (another one). All supercars will go hybrid and then full EV over the next decade. Those electric motors aren't just there for bragging rights. They actually do a few really good things. The electric motor in the back fills in the gaps to eliminate turbo lag. The 2 in the front not only give the car all-wheel drive but they also do torque vectoring which is to give and take power from each front wheel to assist in cornering. Something you can also get out of the $1 million Porsche 918 hybrid. NSX are not reliable, you say?! Where are you getting your information from? I’ve read nothing factual from your reply but hey, everyone is welcome to their own opinions, no matter how uninformed. The first NSX was the most reliable supercar in the world. The 2nd gen is proving to be just that once more. Again, the service schedule on the NSX is so simple and inexpensive compared to the R8 and everything else out there. The NSX is also the most fuel efficient ICE/hybrid supercar in production. Yes, if you can afford the car, fuel consumption shouldn't matter to you, is what many people online would spit out. What they don't realize is that the less you have to stop for gas, the less you have to waste time dealing with people wanting to come up to you with 20 questions about your car and what you do for a living. It gets really old, really quickly as it takes up a lot of your time. I still love the sound of my R8, and yes, much more than that of the NSX. However, the NSX does sound very good from inside the car. The actual engine sound is piped into the car, and in-person, it does sound very good. But of course, a V6 will never sound as deep and beautiful as a V8 or V10. The fact that I can truly drive the NSX each and every day that I drive and not have to give it up for a week or more of service every 6-months, is what I’m interested in. To be able to drive hard when I want and then flip into regular, drama-free driving when I want, is also a huge plus in my book after years of R8 driving. There are dozens of things, both good and bad about supercars, that you will not comprehend from watching RU-vid video. For example, McLarens come with a fire extinguisher for a reason. If you have endless cash and plan to drive several cars then daily drivability isn't going to be a concern. Most supercar owners have 2 or more cars. I try to drive other cars and when I'm in a rental car, I miss my R8. I am so used to sitting low and wide, everything else feels off. Don't get me wrong. I still love my R8 and 2nd gen as well. But the NSX checks a lot of the most important boxes for me after having had the raw supercar experience for so long.

That is not a 2019 car and the 2019 car does have the navigation system standard. part of the changes made to the 2019 model were "Standard equipment now includes four-way power adjustable seats, satellite navigation, premium audio, front and rear proximity sensors, and aluminum sport pedals." And it sounds like you guys have never ever specced out such a car cause they are all expensive and the NSX far from being the worst.

The car is absolutely brilliant. I traded my Gen V Viper GTS in on an '18 NSX in Berlina Black two weeks ago......I don't miss the Viper...... ;) BTW mine is base, base, base.........no options at all...........free paint, no carbon fibre this and that......blah blah blah..........It's a driver's car.......drive it. It is pretty much impossible to take a car like this out for a day and give a proper review of it. I think you guys know that. I had several cars to choose from and a chose the NSX for a few reasons: Hybrid tech: (mini 918) I drive into my neighbourhood in "quiet mode" and people shit themselves........dead silent plus instant acceleration. I didn't see you guys try launch mode. Put it in "track mode" hold your foot on the brake, mash the gas, and let go of the brake........you will NEVER feel acceleration like this car delivers......period; Honda reliability: unlike your McLaren..........I won't hate owning this car after a year.........I'll just love it more......... Take the car for two years and pay for the maintenance and repairs out of your own pocket, and then provide a review.......LIKE AN ACTUAL OWNER WOULD.........then let's see how you feel about the car as it compares to McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo.........forget it...........you'll be bankrupt with those cars........no more supercar for you; Styling: you guys got it right....super cool but not super obnoxious........it's brilliantly styled. Porsches are beetles and the Audi R8 is tired.........no the refresh didn't improve it; AWD: I will drive the car all winter in Canada with Pirelli Sottozero 3 tires fitted..........nuff said (try that with a McLaren). Things like the infotainment, storage, and switchgear are issues that people like myself don't care about. I haven't had any trouble putting all my stuff in the car and everything works just fine. Best of all? It hasn't thrown a CEL...........Honda/Acura..............supercar...........done. Oh, BTW, you were wrong with what "NSX" stands for!!!!! It's "New sports car experience" with the NC1 NSX, and it used to be "New sports car experimental" with the old NA1 NSX.............other than that.........you guys did a pretty fair job.

As an owner of an NSX, I couldn't agree more! Really under-appreciated car, which will correct over time. It is a supercar not a station wagon, storage not the right focus for any supercar, in my opinion. I absolutely loved it before I ever purchased or drove it based on the fact that it is a Honda (reliable and future of supercars), not despite it. Now, I love it more every time I drive it. Thank you for your accurate feedback.

If you only drive in mud and don't look at the inside, you might think this is an attractive car. Given how every tester has had it break down on them, I have no idea how people think the new NSX is reliable. Look up Motor trends problems while testing it. Honda fanboys though hate facts

Every NSX review has their own interpretation of what NSX stands for.

The problem with this car is, that it does not feel desirable. It feels meh. Even with all that tech in it and what it could do. Too bad McLaren took the Senna heritage before Honda could with the NSX. I think that is where the problem is. The car has nothing associated with it other than it is just a new sports car. The old NSX was made to rattle Ferrari. It also carried Senna's name & legacy with it. The new one does not have either. It might as well be just Honda Type Mid-Hybrid R.
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 5 лет назад
Feels plenty desirable to me. Don't know if you knew that Senna isn't around anymore so having his involvement in the new one wasn't an option and his involvement in the old one was very limited. The new one is an excellent interpretation of the name NSX for today and that is exactly what it should be.
@netmatrix75
@netmatrix75 5 лет назад
@@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 Its the same with McLaren Senna. While you could say McLaren did as an honour to Senna, Honda could do the same with NSX. But they didn't. In fact NSX is much more closer to carrying Aryton legacy than what McLaren could do with Senna that is just a name on a car. Aryton drove for Honda and made a car with Honda. While he only drove for McLaren. The idea here is not about his involvement, but rather the legacy of the NSX brand. McLaren's legacy is the F1. Honda's legacy is the NSX. So mucking up the NSX is dissapointing.
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 5 лет назад
@@netmatrix75 Senna didn't make a car with Honda, he gave some input when they were developing it. He drove for McLaren and was powered by a Honda engine so they have just as much right to honour him. The old NSX is not a Senna legacy anymore than the rest of the development teams just cause he gave some inputs and like I said his input isn't available anymore so he couldn't help with the new as he did with the old. Doesn't change the fact that they honoured the NSX name brilliantly and didn't muck anything up, it is an excellent interpretation of the name for today.
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 5 лет назад
@@netmatrix75 And the NSX is just a small part of Honda's legacy.
@netmatrix75

@skarpheinnsmundsson9741
@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 5 лет назад
In what way exactly can't it hold up to the others in this price bracket? The fact that you can choose others that cost as much doesn't take anything away from the NSX, it is fully compatible and compareable to those in it's price range and how fun this is vs others that is just a matter of preference. There is nothing wrong with having options and the NSX is a welcome addition to the market. I would pick it over everything in it's price range and even over more expensive cars.
