@@Crohniebiker I took it out on the DGR weekend and it was awesome! Quite an improvement on my old 2015 model. The CVT is much improved in smoothness and low speed running. The comfort is just like putting on a pair of comfortable slippers, and the handling is indeed spritely. And the extra power over the old 300 is excellent.
Had my Forza for 3 years (and 300 Forza before that). I've had 30 bikes (mostly big cruisers and a few adventure bikes) over a lifetime of biking. Also had a Burgman 400 and 650. The Forza 350 is the best! Having said that, I did ride the ADV 350 last week and I liked it even more, not believing that was possible! Anyway, enjoy your Forza, it's great! Take care and ride safe.
Had my Honda Forza 350 for nearly 3 years. Average = 82mpg. Amazing! Fantastic bike. My favourite scoot. It does tend to get through a set of tyres in 3500-4000miles though. Had a Burgman 400, lovely, comfortable, but handled like a barge round bends. Had a Burgman 650, great tourer, but pretty heavy in traffic. Went for a roadtest on the ADV 350, it blew me away! I pick it up on Saturday. Take care and ride safe mate.
@pommiegranite464 thanks for the comments, I changed my rear tyre at 6k and the front is about ready now at almost 10k. I agree with you about the burgman 400 but the weather protection is great on them . You will love the ADV . Ride safe 👍
I owned a 2008 Burgman 650, and very sorry that I traded it for a sport bike which was not nearly as functional for practical use. I sold the bike and now I'm considering another scooter.
@Whatfer scooter's have definitely come a long way in the last few years. My ADV has been down to Croatia 🇭🇷 without breaking a sweat. Thanks for watching 👍
after your video I decided to purchase the ADV 350. It's two weeks now, and it's simply perfect for the big cities (i live in Rome), but I did some 300kms trips already, simply perfect. Thanks man
I have a old scooter that I purchased with about 14500 miles on the clock 4 years ago. It is also a Honda, a 2001 NSS250 Reflex. Just this spring I turned 57000 miles on the clock and no that is not a typo, I ride the hell out of this thing. At the start of last year riding season I decided to do a ground up maintenance, new fuel line, new fuel filter, new vacuum lines, clean the carb (still didn't need it but did it anyway), valve adjustment, new tires, new drive belt, etc., you get the idea. I decided to go on a long trip out of state (I live in the USA) and was extremely happy with the highway fuel mileage of this thing. It is a 3.2 gallon tank and I reset the trip meter every fill up, a habit from having too many motorcycles in the past with no gas gauge. Other than potty breaks I ran 243 miles on the that first tank of my trip and at the first fill up I still had .4 of a gallon left in the tank which came out to 86 mpg... WOW, I have never had a motorcycle in my life to ever even come close to that. Great video and I hope to see many more from ya Crohnie!!
Thanks for your comments, I have always enjoyed scooters, the practicality and fuel millage is fantastic and this honda is by far the best one I've ever had . Thanks for watching 👀
There is a way to go to the trip and consumption settings when using RoadSync by holding right on the handlebar joystick (or whatever that is called). You go back to the RoadSync by holding left. Hope this helps somenoe :)
Have seen many ADV 350 reviews now . Plan to spend longer periods of time in Thailand as from winter 2024 so a new adv is definitely part of the plan. Have seen enough to convince me that this bike is capable of touring a country the same si,e as France, no problem. Great review.
CB, What a very useful video you've produced here. Thank-You. I'm in my mid 70's and returned to riding a motorcycle about 15 years or so ago (purely for pleasure riding in the country lanes of Hampshire). In my autumn years I have athritis developing in my right hip, so starting to get discomfort issues riding even conventional motorcycles such as my current Triumph Bonneville (and I'm vertically challenged, so would have even bigger problems if I had your in-seam measurement ! ). I regretfully changed to the Bonnie about 7 months ago from a Royal Enfield 350 Meteor, as my local R/E dealership ceased trading and there wasn't another (reliable) dealership within a practical distance for servicing. The Meteor, being a semi-cruiser style was the most comfortable 'bike I've ever owned. I checked out quite a few modern bikes for comfortable ergonomics and, although the Bonnie seemed the most appropriate, I'm now discovering it wasn't the complete answer. From my previous endeavours I know I won't find a conventional 'bike better suited to my failing physique than the Bonnie (and limited choice anyway as there are few dealerships close to my home). Although a massive break from tradition for me, a scooter would most probably provide the best answer to keep my motorised two-wheel fun going for a few more years, and the ADV 350 has popped up on my radar. Your 'real-world' experience of of the ADV covering topics not usually mentioned in typical reviews, but very relevant to potential long-term ownership were very encouraging to me. So thank-you again. : - }
Thank you for your kind words, my friend. I have found in my 2 years of ownership that this little bike is a very capable machine. It will easily sit at motorway speeds, and I find it very nimble . My girlfriend is 5"5 and she loves riding it too ( although she has to shuffle to the front of the seat to touch the ground) It's also quite comfortable on longer rides . I wish you many more happy years of riding enjoyment and thanks for watching 👍
That was a thoroughly entertaining and informative review. I love how fast your bike is off the line, that will never not be fun. I passed my mod1 a couple days ago, and my mod2 is set for the 22nd July. I’ve been riding a 125 for the last year, I felt that the mod1 was going to be the big hurdle, but I passed it easily in the end, so if I’m sensible, I hope the mod2 is going to be just a formality. The plan is to ride to the dealer the second I pass, trade in, and leave the dealer with this bike on the same day I pass.
I also cam across from a an 400. I've done over 25k in just over 12 months.... and I love the bike. It has never failed me. Yes the an 400 will give you more weather protection but as a ride this wins hands down. I can throw it into a corner and it behaves like a motorbike...would I buy another one?.. in a heartbeat... what's not a forza 350.. comes from other honda motorcycles. No nasty surprises down the line... Good review..thanks Charlie...
Have been riding the 2024 version here in Thailand for 1,000 km and I am getting 31.2 km per litre which translates to 90 MPG. This is slightly higher than Honda's claimed 29.4 km/litre. I did watch your video before purchase so I was a bit worried about consumption versus the Forza, so I am delighted to see 31.2 on the clock.
@@davidgolder2505 I was renting the PCX 150 right up to the day I bought the ADV, and the PCX was incredible on mileage, it felt like weeks between gas stops.
@domi9577 that's a difficult question to answer. I find the ADV brilliant and practical but I prefer a larger bike for trips abroad with luggage which is why I bought the NC. I don't think I could choose my favourite.
The ADV 150 has a handbrake geniously placed on the rear brake...a bar that flips back to lock the lever. I had a hona helix that had a foot brake....loved that.
I've got an ADV 150 in the states, wanted a 350 but they don't send them here. I ride a lot of dirt roads and found that a lot of dirt gets thrown up into engine area , so I took rear fender off, riveted a piece of a plastic Enduro fender on it to extend it, and it keeps that area much cleaner.
I keep developing an interest in the 350, then cooling it. I live in Thailand for nine months of the year and run a Yamaha SCR950, KTM 390 Duke Mk2 and Yamaha Aerox 155 twist and go scooter. I keep thinking of selling the 390 and 155 and replacing it with an Adv 350. But they're heavy, whereas the 155 is so light and nimble in the city. A mate had one and said it was like riding an auto adventure bike. Dreadful traffic everywhere in England. Remember it well. Excellent review. Nick J
@@saifonlawrence2044 Same here, bought it in Udon Thani about 4 weeks ago. I did find an English PDF version of the manual online which is great, but unfortunately it's for the 2021/22 model. Comparing the manuals side-by-side with my Thai version - the main difference is the short section on the answer back/alarm starting around page 43 of the Thai version. Seems that the earlier model had answer back but no alarm.
You could replace all three of those with an NC750x. Not as good as any of them at what each of them specialise at, but having only one bike keeps life simple
Great review, I ordered mine mid March 22, arrived mid October 22, only just nearly reached first service mileage, booked in for later this month, May 23.
Good work mate. Thanks for showing the seat height. Its always a problem for me now on new bikes...never used to be, and Ive owned the biggest , fastest bikes made... In regards to paint colour , I was told by a guy at a dealership, that red is the worst colour for fading. Probably not a problem in England, but it is here in Australia. My kawasaki has certainly faded on the front mudguard etc...its similar dark red to your honda...mind you Ive owned it 24 years. Ive faded a bit too! 😂🍺🍺🦘🦘
@@Crohniebiker Yep. I know. Im English...lived in Oz all my life. One advantage is we dont have the rust problems that seem to slowly destroy vehicles and bikes in the UK.
The same situation had mine for a year now 6,000Km it's the best bike I have ever owned. I have one complaint the variator is very noisy when accelerating Rocket Man has the same problem. I'm looking at changing the Variator rollers or installing a Polini system.
I have xmax300. Done 12k on it now. 6ft 4. I get 100mpg to 105 most of the time. Mainly longer runs and I do ride steady. 60mph and hills and lanes. Mate rides quick and gets 95mpg. I have mra deflector on and it quietest screen I.ve ever had. Adv may be different of course but worth a try. Lots of bikes have them so they do work. 👍
@@renes9966 I buy 34 inch trousers. It may be more. My 6ft2 mate tried it and thought bars were too low as hitting knees so I sat him on his bullet which he was happy with and guess what? They hit his knees on lock. If I have to use full lock just move knee in No prob.
I averaged 90mpg uk over the last 20000km. I installed some Tech Pulley sliders with 17g weights for a bit better performance. One day I am the calmest rider possible and the other day I squeeze everything she got on the Autobahn. Very happy with the fuel consumption. A 125 doesn´t consume much less and isn´t anywhere near as quick.
@@problemslayer3538 Like I say I.m steady rider. Usually longer 20 to 70 mile runs . Usually look for fuel with 260m on trip. Like I said my mate gives his some stick. Gets around 90. Another mate got an adv last week . He gets around 80mpg. We are talking uk gallons.
Hi, I can tell you my passengers have commented on how comfortable the seat is .It's very wide, and with the fold out metal footpegs make them feel really secure, especially when the top box is fitted . The suspension also copes really well with a pillion. So all in all, it's a great bike for carrying a passenger . Thanks for watching 👍
Thank You for the video! Cons part of it is need to know. BTW, RoadSync is unavailable here in Estonia. And the dealer didn't even tell me before i purchased the scooter. I am still in a school for A class license while my ADV350 awaits at a parking lot. Few more weeks before exam. Can't wait. Hey, i had no one to advise me on color and guess which one i picked? LMAO I am not too far from the rest apparently. I got the silver one. And it's going to be my first. Thanks again! All the best!
Great overview. Looked at the Burgman but have always loved Honda over Suzuki Just a quick thing the various petrol stations get their fuel from the same 6 UK refineries . The variations in fuel are only if you get fuel from outside you local area . Eg Coryton refinery serves most of the London /East Anglia irrespective of forecourt name
I got my xadv ceramic coated at Supreme coat in dronfield near sheffield, makes cleaning a breeze and guaranteed for 10 years on a new bike or 7years on older bikes 😊👍🏻
Great review, I can't wait to pick mine up soon in October. You mentioned that the bike was made in Italy. I thought they were all made in Thailand, and designed in Italy.
I'm in Thailand now, just put a deposit down on a 2024 model - definitely made in Thailand, and I'm paying 186,400 Thai baht which is about 65% of the UK price
@@SABAI15 Thanks Sabai, glad you are enjoying your bike. I'm in Udon and they just seem to be running out of the 2024 model now - the waiting lists have started, and I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up soon like it has in Pattaya - Honda in Pattaya are quoting over 200,000 baht and a 2-3 month waiting list. But I managed to nab a red display model here in Udon at the ticket price, they are getting it ready for a 2nd Feb pick-up 👍
I'm a big scooter fan having owned in the past a Suzuki Burgman 250 and Yamaha Tmax and now a Vespa GTS300 along with a couple of motorcycles. A 300/350cc scooter make a lot of sense with adequate performance coupled with low running costs. I will be having a look at the current offerings at this years Motorcycle live. Unfortunately there does still seem some snobbery towards maxi scooters from both motorcyclists and traditional scooterists.
I Had the burgman 250 too ,great scoot. But yeah I agree with you about the snobbery. My Mrs wasn't a scooter fan at all until she rode it and now she thinks it's great 👍
Just tried it out, and I can say it's certainly peppier, a lot more urgent. On the noise front, I can't really tell a difference. I know rocketman (on his channel) says he doesn't like the noisy drivetrain. Hope this helps?
75 on Honda Forza through winter (Honda heated grips are crap!) getting back up to 82mpg now weather getting better. Mines 8 months old with 3500 on. Have you noticed a groan like sound on take off? More apparent in cold weather? I’m taking mine into Honda on Saturday to see what they say…. Yea I’ve been all the way up the cc’s and now I’m back at 350. Same as my Yamaha350lc in my youth! 😃👍
Yes mine makes the groan noise like yours .I have 6500 miles on mine now . I'm interested in what honda have to say ,let me know . I had the same on my old burgman and it turned out to be the variator rollers , they were all full of dirty dust , once I cleaned everything up it was fine again. Mine in for service in a few weeks too . Thanks for watching 👍
For my purposes the first thing to change would be the tires. I have other dual purpose bikes and this really isn’t an off roader more of a dirt roadish so some decent street rubber would do. Then tint the windscreen or dip it there’s many options for that. About it.
I don’t want to upset you but a couple of months ago I purchased a Toyota Yaris cross which has 1500cc engine and a hybrid system. With town use plus motorway driving from the West coast of Cumbria to Kent and to Surrey and it has averaged 74.5 mpg.
@peterreece6547 yes it does surprise me how inefficient bike's are compared with car's nowadays. But I suppose the scooter is averaging 5500rpm up to 7500rpm Thanks for watching.
@@Crohniebiker I’m a retired motorcyclist of many years and I love two wheel motoring but these days in the second half of my 70’s I’m not sure I could trust myself on a m/cycle. Regarding my Toyota it has cvt transmission and in the 1960’s I drove DAF cars and vans which had belts and pulleys but they called it variomatic. My last Toyota a Yaris but not hybrid it had the cvt transmission. You might guess that I am a fan of belt and pulley transmission.
Totally agree with everything you say about the bike. I'm living in the South of France I bought the ADV 350 as a second bike for town use & commuting. It took two months to realise I was having more fun than on my Tracer900 GT, sold the bike & never looked back. I just had Pirelli Angel Scooter tyres fitted what a difference it rides even more like a motorbike. The Variator is noisy do you have any information about replacing it with a Malossi to eliminate the noise? Regards, Frank.
Hi Frank, they are great bike's for sure . I have a bit of variator noise when it's cold but it seems to go once it warms up. I haven't got any experience with changing the pulleys at the moment. Thanks for watching 👀
Great video, I am just considering this bike now, so based upon your video, it gives me confidence that this will be a good purchase! Thanks for asking at the end to give a thumbs up, which I only do after seeing any video! Many ask for a thumbs up at the beginning, which does not make sense, since you don't know if the video is any good! So, I subscribed too, which means I like your content! I was considering the Forza, but this seems far better for a little bit more dosh!
As far as fuel economy goes it is possible for say a Honda Goldwing to travel much the same distance as say a Honda Grom given the same amount of fuel in each bike. Assuming both are ridden conservatively on a level road with no or very little stop/start in traffic.
I've had a burgman 400 they're great bikes and comfortable. I use my ADV for commuting but I also have an NC750X for bigger tours . Thanks for watching 👍
@neilwiddison6529 Yes, you could indeed tour on the adv no problem whatsoever. I met a guy in France waiting the ferry he was on his ADV350 and had a pillion passenger. The only reason I have another bike is because I have 3 peice luggage on it, and I'm not sure the ADV can take panniers due to the width 👍
Yes, the thing is it's revving high all the time, especially when commuting . I have managed 90mpg on a run ar constant speed but I didn't get this bike for long distances. Saying that it's significantly better than my previous burgman. 👍
Great video....sat on one last week. Like you say needs a bit more space for burgman like feet forward riding. Pitty otherwise I'd of ordered one.....see if the new Peugeot 400cc scooter is any roomier
I like this bike but own the 2019 Honda Forza 300cc scooter and love it. I'm going to try and sell it 2024 because I'm convinced there are going to be some serious updates on the Forza such as digital tachometer.
It's a fantastic scooter, and a toss up on whether the automatic windshield adjustment and better wind protection is more important than improved suspension - so down to personal opinion
Ik think the Forza is a more grownup scooter. Not only the looks/presence but also the functionality. It has way more weather protection and a top case as standard.
@@paulietv2162 Here in Europe, at least where I live, you get a topbox and 5 years of warranty with unlimited kms. It's a bit more expensive than the ADV though.
Hi , i would love to know if you ever had, or if yes, how often your keyless left you on the road try to start the scooter. I have a Xmas 250 from 2015 and i am thinking to by" very bad" a honda adv 350 and this is the only think keeping me to don't do it . Thanks you 🙏 and be safe in this crazy world 😂😂😂
@GENTLE-RIDER Hi, thanks for your question. I can honestly say that after learning that you have to pull rear brake lever, VERY HARD that it has never happened since and has been excellent 👌. Thanks for watching.
Hi Crohnie , I am a honda super cub owner (c 125) and Im thinking of buying an ADV 350. But I would like to know how easy or difficult it is to access the engine ( presumably from under the seat ) for maintenance and generally how easy it is to remove the plastic covers as for me working on the bike is part of the fun of ownership, cheers Mick.
Hi Mick, to be honest, I've not yet needed to get into the engine .However, I can tell you that the service items like air and oil filter, even the belt is easily accessible if you're doing your own maintenance you'll have no problems. I purchased the honda service package, so I won't have to do it myself until year 3 . I am expecting this to be ultra reliable tho as it's a well proven engine. Also it will be a great upgrade from your C125 . Enjoy and thank you for watching 👍
@@Crohniebiker but it's unfortunate that particular is not being sold in the United States for whatever reason(s).......does that price costs in American dollars? Or no?
Hi Crohnie, thanks for your honest opinion about your ADV. I switched from a 400cc Piaggio Beverly 400 S scooter to the Honda CL-500 about 3 months ago. As I don't have a car, I rode the Piaggio scooter all last winter (with the factory Michelin City Grip 2 tyres) in sleet and -10 degrees etc. without any problems. I knew that the scooter would be better in winter due to the lower centre of gravity, but I didn't think that the CL 500 would be so unsuitable for winter riding (the rear end broke out when I started off carefully in the sleet). Have you ridden your CB-500X in winter and had a similar experience? How does the ADV behave in sleet? Best regards ;-)
Hi ,I didn't get a chance to ride cb500x in winter as I ended up trading it in for the NC750X ( check out my video) The ADV on the other hand is as good as you would expect in the winter and sleet. The traction control comes in very handy and it's a great handling bike with the wide bars . The weather protection isn't quite as good as my old burgman 400 though . Thanks for watching and ride safe 👍
The hot grips have proven their worth over the winter ,they are very reliable too. I have tried one of those clip on screens but ended up removing it aa it was a waste of time 👍
Hi , Great info in your video, could I ask which version of Oxford heated grips you have fitted ? I am purchasing an ADV350 and would like to purchase grips . Thanks Martin
@MARTIN1668UK it is a bit fiddly to get the cable to the battery but use a flexible rod or something similar and it's quite doable. You'll have to sand the ridges off the throttle tube before the Oxford will slide on aswell.
I also have an ADV 350 that I bought brand new nearly one year ago. However I am starting to notice some issues that I wonder if you have the same. The rear bearing is making a humming sound when I turn the wheel in any direction and I am able to shake the wheel slightly. I assume it's time to change under warranty. What is really worrying me at the moment is that I noticed that if I put the motorcycle on the center stand and shake it by hand a little bit, I can hear some mounts engine/chassis mount clinging (near the engine area) and I clearly see the rear suspension shaking from side to side. Do you also have this in yours?
To be honest I haven't, the only thing I notice now is its not as smooth sometimes pulling away but I think that's probably dust building up in the variator weights/clutch drum . How many miles have you done so far?
Yes its a copy of the quadlock from ebay ,it works really well ant to be honest I can't tell the difference between the genuine one . Only thing is you don't get the dedicated phone case . www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364217352489?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=AB4hBAhVQc6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=lUFCEI2bSWy&var=633710146358&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Yes, it's legal to filter in the UK ( although most drivers don't realise this ) The only rule is that you can not cross a solid white line . Thanks for watching 👍
I don't notice any vibrations in the front wheel or windshield of your bike. I've had mine for a year, and I'm quite frustrated with how it tends to wobble and vibrate when I release the gas at around 60 km/h or when it's stationary and turned on. Initially, I assumed the issue might be resolved by balancing the front wheel. However, after doing some research, it appears that this could be a common problem with Honda motorcycles. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to address this issue? Have you experienced a similar problem with your bike or does anyone reading this have insights to share? Thanks.
Thanks for your comments. Personally I don't experience this phenomenon on my bike although I have heard of people with this issue. Do you have a top box on your bike? Sometimes this can affect aero and cause wobble, maybe try taking ot off . Sorry I have no more suggestions for you but thanks for watching 👍
no wobbling at all in mine. I know for sure that this phenomenon is caused either from a topbox or from tires. A friend of mine had the same problem and proved to be a bunch pf problematic metzeler tires. After changing tires, the bike was perfect.
I'm wouldn't be surprised if a police officer took interest in this video because of your comment about speed cameras. If youu don't speed then you don't need to worry about speed cameras . Not surprised other people got better mpg then you after seeing the burnout and quick acceleration. If yours dying long distance like you did in this video find a truck on dual carriage way or motorway that is going your way and stick with it. I did about 30 miles on about £4 worth of petrol on a big 600cc sports bike and still had fuel to go down petrol station next day. When i ride I see other road users as idiots due to lack of use of indicators. Mate got knocked off his bike because a transit decided to turn right in to petrol station that was on other side of road while my mate was half way up the side of the van
Nice video. I'm tall and on a 125 I really notice side wind on fast roads. I understand the Forza 350 is quite susceptible to it. How do you find it in adverse wind?
@@Crohniebiker Thanks. I take the East Lancs Road often and travel across the Pennines between Manchester and Leeds year-round so a bike feeling somewhat planted is definitely on my tick list. Been curious about the much heavier Pug XP400 for the same reason, but I like the ADV and it's dealer support network, cheaper price etc.
Unfortunately I haven't had a test ride on the Forza so I can't compare. I can say tho that the wind protection isn't as good as my previous burgman 400 . The ADV is way cooler tho 😎
As i had the forza for 6 years and sold it to buy an adv 350, i can tell you that as far as wind protection and comfort, forza is better. As for dynamic driving, easy turning, feeling and sport attitude, adv is better.
Basically I wasn't holding in my back brake lever hard enough to make it start. Since I have realised its been perfect for the last 2 years. Hope this helps
@@Crohniebiker Hi Crohnie. Thanks but that's not quite how I understand the key to connect and allow the fob to turn. Mine froze and so I couldn't turn the knob. Therefore I couldn't get it to the ignition on stage. It was stuck in steering lock. I left bike for 5 mins and then it was OK. Not a starting the engine issue. But IF U haven't had any issues since that first time then I probably shouldn't worry. Thanks for great videos. Have you done any modifications? If so what? I've seen a change of rear hugger / mudguard can improve or rather remove dirt and grime from getting into the works and so cleaning is easier. Any thoughts...?
@MrBob888 Thanks, yes, I could do with a rear hugger myself. It gets really dirty underneath the back end, but I do ride it all year round ist showing a bit of rust on the centre stand now (common problem) I don't really have any upgrades apart from top box .
