Thanks for posting this video very timely & informative. My 2016 Pilot has now just started exhibiting this problem twice in the last 2 months. I'll look into checking these items if the the problem gets worse. Appreciate all the troubleshooting as most of the forums have no solutions & there is no proposed fix from Honda as they have known about this issue for some time now. A complaint for this issue from 221 owners have now been reported & logged with the NHTSA on 6/3/22 so hopefully this will put some pressure on Honda to come up with a recall/fix
To people coming in after today, there is a recall for 2019-22 passports, 2016-22 pilots, and 2020-23 ridge lines for the auto idle errors. Service bulletin reference #23-008/23-009/23-010.
Hi George. I recently took my car for a maintenance at Honda dealership. When I got my car back the idle start/stop does not engage. The button works when pressed it says. (Enabled/disabled). And I have no message on my dashboard. I have a feeling they did something with the fuse or whatever to make it stop working - I reached out to them about it and they want me to bring it it- but I’m a bit pearly on that cause I know they are going to come up with some form of diagnostic that will lead in couple hundreds of dollars. I’ve had this experience before as soon as I leave the dealership some minor stuff(headlight blown-on the side that’s difficult to reach) etc. My car was working just fine- I requested the regular maintenance in addition to some differential stuff he mentioned. In the end I really did not have a good experience there. So that’s why I don’t want to go back. My car is a 2021 CRV AWD I’m the only person that drives my car There is no rust on the terminals etc Can you please help me figure this out. Thanks
Thanks - very interesting and informative! I am confused as to why this was at your shop and not the dealer to be repaired under manufacturer's warranty? Thanks!
Interesting. When the software upgrade issue seemed to cause the car to spontaneously shift to Park, the radio, though it continued to work, became inoperable, volume control did not work, touch screen did not work and the radio could not be shut off.
My 2022 Honda Elite was recalled for a software update to the idle-stop feature so that it would not shut off the vehicle in case of low battery voltage. Since then it has been intermittently causing the vehicle to spontaneously shift to Park when the car automatically restarts. Is this a known problem with this upgrade and how can it be fixed?
Oh dear. Is this still happening? I just had the recall/software update done, and also got a new battery for my 2018 Pilot Touring as I have been having random problems with the idle-stop failing to re-start the car. Very concerning to see you having a similar "fix" but it not working!
@@2slofouru now I’m confused Honda’s fix is a update for the ECM if that won’t solve your problem the next step is to put a larger capacity battery with new starter and a valve adjustment
@@juliejujubean7595 after the update they do Repair Procedure - Replace the engine starter motor and relays. Adjust the valve tappet clearance (not just replace parts)
