@@PJ-hi1gz the K series can make 500 hp reliability so the engine will be fine until then. Even so there are some that can make 600 or 700 and the max is around 1000 with heavy mods
@@austinfrazier7325 and blow your new car warranty if something happens? Lol better off just buying one used in a few years old for half the price then tuning it.
@@naveenthemachine The Accord base only have LED on the low beam side. I'm not sure about the base model Camry, and Sonata, but I would assume they have the same setup as the base Accord. The newer TLX have full LED Headlights and Tail lights even on the base trim.
The Camry has led low and high beams standard. The higher Camry models xle and XSE get full leds w led DRLs and led turn signals. Additionally Camry xle and XSE trims get full led rear lighting Taillights backup lights and led turn signals
There's no doubt the Accord Touring 2.0T is an incredibly nice sedan and in my opinion is tops in its class. However, the TLX is so much better looking. To me, the style alone would be worth the extra price. I don't mean that the Accord is ugly but the TLX is truly stunning in my opinion. They are both great cars and I wouldn't fault anyone for picking either one of them. I am planning to replace my '16 TLX Advance in a year or year and a half and am heavily leaning towards the TLX Type S, which is coming out in the Spring of '21.
@2020 Dem Fraud I personally prefer the naturally aspirated V6 over a turbocharged four cylinder. Don't get me wrong, the K series are great engines. But I prefer the better sound and refinement of the J series V6 especially in a car as large and expensive as the TLX. But if you prefer the turbo four cylinders, those are still excellent engines.
@Gabe Hernandez both have the same 8 speed automatic. Also my Camry XSE v6 w the 8 speed has been smooth for me. Additionally the Avalon has a few advantages over the ES 4 way lumbar for the passenger Heated Folding rear seats Sequential turn signals
Nice job guys. I have a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0T. It’s fantastic. I just really love this 2021 TLX. Everything about it. I admit having a bit of buyer’s remorse however since at the time I forgot a whole refresh was coming to the TLX. Payments would probably be too high for my budget, regardless, but I’m very interested in one. The Advance package is what I want. Probably should just chill out and enjoy the Accord for years to come, ha.
@trial I know what you're saying, bud... but we are in a acura/honda comparison. You can argue about this and that about any brand but there will always be plenty of ppl who dislike certain brands. For example, some ppl buy honda/acura for their "reliability", brand loyalty, looks, preferences...etc. Would be like comparing the '21 2.5t Sonata N line with the 3.3t G70...about the same in price diff.... Between TLX 2.0t vs 3.3t G70, ME personally, would go g70 route. Simply bc of more power. But then again, the S-type is coming out.
One of the things I love about the Accord over the Camry is how light on its feet the Accord feels. The Camry is a dog with the 4cyl and feels very heavy.
Jay No sir it was the V6 3.5l with the A spec package not the little 2.4l lol. He had an exhaust on the car so I definitely heard the V6. I've haven't lost to a J series V6 at least not yet.
If you don't need luxury and can live without AWD, Accord is great value (Better 0-60 performance, roomier, and lower maintenance costs since its cheaper to take to a Honda dealer vs Acura). Great analysis!
I've owned Honda or Acura since 1979. If you strip out the happy talk here, I'd say that the Honda is the better choice even if there were no price advantage. I ran into the same comparison issues last year when shopping for a RDX versus a Passport. I bought the Passport to replace my Acura Cl-S rather than the RDX. Historically, the Acura's advantage was in its incredible V-6, 3.2 - 3.5, an engine so refined over the years that it alone made my choice easy. Replacing that engine with a turbo 2.0 liter destroys the potential of added value in the Acura. In my case, that value transfers to the Passport, where the V-6 is the standard and only engine. Here, Honda puts about a $1,500 value on the AWD system option, so call the TLX a 2WD and there is a $10k price spread. That's a lot of chedder for two real wood strips on the dashboard and Italian leather v. American leather on the seats.
I was going to trade in my 18 Accord Touring 2.0T for a 21 TLX but decided not to. The interior of the TLX is tiny, I couldn’t believe how small it was. I love my Accord.... The TLX is beautiful tho.
I'm right there with ya. I have an 18 Accord Touring Hybrid. Though I've owned way pricier cars from the German, I just can't get rid of the Honda, it's fairly fun and roomy with good gas mileage. I want the TLX, but my Accord is paid off, so Honda all the way
The TLX also has automatic heated and ventilated seats. The Accord doesn’t offer auto seat climate. The TLX also has Traffic Jam Assist, which the Accord doesn’t offer. The TLX also has sensors on the rear door handles to unlock without having to unlock the front doors first.
Thanks for the review! What was the interior sound decibel rating you got with the Accord? And did you get that decibel reading while driving on the same road at about the same speed as when you noted the TLX's interior decibel rating?
Definitely no shocker that the Acura destroys the accord, interior wise especially. I just feel like they fell asleep making the newer accord, red leather, ambiant lighting and a panoramic sunroof would make a world of difference to me on the accord.
@@NS-ex5bg i believe the k5 offers a red interior and pano roof but idk about the ambient lighting But for sure the Camry XSE gasoline (not hybrid) offers both a red interior, pano roof, led interior lighting, and a single color ambient lighting, not the multi colored one from Acura if that’s okay with you
I would take the TLX but in A-Spec form and the red interior. It looks fantastic, to me better than the Accord. Ultimately the Type-S is the one I'd want but if it's over $55k then that's pretty hard to swallow. I also don't like the way Acura lines up their trim's for this car. It's really bizarre.
Great review - I appreciate that you pointed out that the TLX is quieter at highway speeds than the Accord, but it would've been helpful to know what the difference in decibel level(s) was between the two - to me that factors into the value equation.
I have owned three Accords, and currently own the Accord 2.0t Touring trim. And it is the quietest Accord I have driven to date. But I get why the TLX would be a better option if you want Lux quietness in the cabin. I was somewhat surprised by how quite the 10th gen Accord Touring trim was. Not BMW quite, but pretty good for Honda price tag. I didn't think the extra $10k was worth a little better looks and lux. So I went with the 2.0t Touring.
@@sn4rl277Accord stereos suck anyway . So kill 2 birds with one stone and get a premium aftermarket stereo and tell them you want dynamat and it will quiten the ride significantly.
@@soulerflare7 The Touring is pretty quiet compared to the last two Accord's I have driven. I am actually looking at a wrecked TLX as a donor stereo option. The only issue is the dumb 10 Channel head unit in the 10th Gen. Who puts a 10 channel in a car?
One level up guys✨✨ You guys are doing great job out there , you know hard work and efforts you gave in each video is fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻 I have no words to describe you guys... I'm speechless just Amazing.....Thank you again😃😃
Thanks for the review I always thought the accord was a smarter choice. I just had a TL for 2years plus and that was the best car I’ve own until I had to go to the dealership and pay for repairs 😁😩
@Cuban Pete yeah but I had 3rd gen (08) TL, with 270k on it, and I drove it like I stole it everywhere, and I’m pretty sure u don’t drive like me, and plus u know damn well Honda’s don’t break in until almost 100k. Of course u didn’t have any problems
Traded in my '19 Accord Touring for a '21 TLX Advance FWD, the TLX wins all day long. The ONLY thing I like better with the Accord is the rear legroom, and bigger trunk. Thats it. TLX looks better, inside and out, nice to have the interior LED lighting, automatic ventilated and heated seats. folding side mirrors, much better sound system, ( my accord had too many rattles with heavy bass) , quieter and nicer ride. The voice recognition is way better in the TLX, although I dont know if they improved that on the 21 Accord. They should have compared a FWD car for a more fair comparison. $2000 less for the TLX w/o AWD.
Accord has a better resale value, but you can get a great deal in a used TLX. TLX uses premium gas and has a lower mpg vs Accord. it’s a close call depending on what you value. Great comparison. Thank you!!!
So does the Acura have a full size spare or none? About the room: you mentioned the handling of the TLX, and the tighter rear passenger compartment. The two are related. The TLX has a more sophisticated suspension system, and the design impinges on the rear passenger space AND the trunk space. So that becomes a question of whether high quality sports sedan handling is more important, or the additional room. For my part, if I were buying either it would be the Acura because I'm single and would only rarely haul additional people in the back, and having even a little more edge of control in curves is part of the enjoyment of driving.
Traded my 2014 Accord Coupe EXL-V6 on a ‘21 TLX. I cross shopped the Accord 2.0 Touring, but styling won hands down. The TLX is one of most handsome sedans in many years.
I saw a white TLX at the gas station the other day. I couldn't look away. The Accord is nice too I love those. Back seats can have different door trim than the front seats, kinda like a dodge neon with roll up rear windows and power fronts haha
Having been an owner of an AWD tlx and an accord, you can’t really put a value on having AWD where you hAve a true winter. Needless to say, I will only ever buy an AWD as my daily driver.
Thank you for the review!!! My Lease is up in 3 months and these are the 2 cars im looking at ! There so close ,I love both cars !! I like the speed of the honda and the quality of the Acura !! I guess I have to test drive the Acura ,I have a 2018 Accord sport 2.0 ,I have to see the monthly price comparison or my wife will kick my butt!!!
Why not just keep your car until the next revision of the Accord? By then if you decided on the Acura they would have worked everything all out by then plus you would have the type S as an option too. There is a big price difference tho. I just picked up a 20 Accord Touring as I like the older style better plus I got a really great deal on it too. The TLX might have a better interior plus SH-AWD but to me it's not worth the admission which would be been around $16K more for me.
I have the 2019 version of the 2.0 T Acoord. I find the 10 speed hesitates to decide on a gear when I push the throttle hard. Maybe they tweaked it for 2021 and for the TLX. But why not use a DCT? Another thing, in Sport mode the Accord makes the throttle response quicker and stiffens up the suspension. But sometimes I want more suspension without the more aggressive throttle mapping. Maybe the Acura can do that. And finally, why pit the top TLX at $11K more? I'd be interested to see how a more comparably priced TLX does against the Accord. And though the Accord does pretty well, $11K is a big difference in class of car. I love my Accord. ...and thumbs up on the review.
Someone else uses this music as their intro music. I think it’s a sports page on RU-vid or maybe it’s here. But I don’t think I’ve watched your page enough lol
George Michael doing car reviews?? Gotta have faith 🤣🤣. Seriously though you did a great job with the review and really like the split screen for comparison.
I never thought cost should be a component of your comparisons. Value is a better component (even though it is subjective). You can compare the TLX to a well equipped Mercedes C-Class. The C-Class is $9,000 more comparably equipped. For the buyer wanting (can afford) the MB badge, it is value that is a stronger component then cost (same applies to a Honda Accord vs an Acura TLX). Lastly, most cars are leased (not purchased). If you want to use the cost as a factor, then it would be more appropriate (and realistic) to break it down further w/ residual value (using a 3 or 4 year lease) along with monthly payments.
That hybrid Accord touring with 48 mpg city and highway is far too good to pass up. And when I plan on living in California, that's going to be quite important. I currently have a 2020 Accord LX and the trunk space, the rear legroom, the gas mileage, the great looks, all for $25k out the door, it is SUCH a good value.
According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average...
A base TLX is 37K and some change and the 6cyl option is gone? Not acceptable! Given the choice between the two it would have to be the Accord, even then I wouldn't get new because it breaks the 30K limit on 4cyl cars. I'll get a low mileage pre-owned and not take the depreciation hit.
A great comparison topic. A while ago I assessed and drove the V6 TLX vs latest top end Accord. Accord is more practical transportation and good value. But back to back the TLX put a big smile on my face that Accord could not. The Advance model TLX is not worth the extra $ BTW. Mostly gimmicks added. But the SH-AWD is a Wow difference. So how much is the smile on your face worth every time you drive? (PS - I bought the TLX )
@Gabe Hernandez ya I find it strange also. It might also be the framing that the cars sit on. Maybe they just aren’t meant for panos or can’t hold the weight of them or those specific models. I really think it would have elevated the TLX even more but would have made it much slower due to the weight.
