I picked up this 1963 Honda C100 about a week ago for a song. In the process of stripping it down and restoring it, although it does not need much. A little over 5,000 miles, mechanically sound aside for some needed maintenance. It was owned by a carpenter for the past 15 years, Making me the third owner. It has been out of use since the mid 80's, yet surprisingly enough it is in extremely good condition, aside for sawdust mixed grease that probably contributed greatly towards keeping everything in such good condition as it repelled water and kept it from rusting. It needs paint and many odds and ends, but was complete aside from turn signals and side covers.

Good lad. I had one and should have kept it. They had the edge on a PC50 but the early C50 was abetter machine. The C100 somehow had more of something.Just cannot think what afterv all these years.

They were advertized as getting 225 mpg. In 1963 that mpg would equal riding around the earth on 30-bucks worth of gas.

I just picked up 1965 C100. Same white color. Can you give me some tips on starting and riding it?

The kick starter shaft is very delicate and prone to breaking. You don't have to kick them very hard. If you're having trouble starting it, check for spark by removing the spark plug and laying it against the side of the engine while kicking the motor over. If you don't have spark, first check the condition and adjustment of the ignition points, which are found under the flywheel, on the left side of the motor if memory serves me correctly. Next inspect the coil using a multi meter if you have one, checking the primary and secondary resistance are in spec. Chrck the ignition lead for corrosion and tightness. Once you have spark, put in some fresh fuel and try starting. If it doesn't start after a few minutes, inspect the sparkplug and check if its damp with fuel. If it is, you're getting fuel and spark and so long as you have compression it should start, you might need to just wait a while in case you flooded it. If the spark plug is dry, you likely need to rebuild the carb. As far as riding, they are one of the easiest bikes to ride. No clutch, just push the shifter down into first gear and slowly roll on the throttle to go. When you need to shift up, release the throttle, shift gears, and reapply the throttle. Shifting down is the opposite. If you'd like, the bike has been in hybernation a few years. I can make a video of me pulling it out and getting it running again, with more instruction.

Very nice. But next time when you start a bike/car after so many years DON'T rev it so hard. An engine is super sensitive when it's cold.

Video makes it seem like I revved it much higher than I did. These motors are bulletproof and I had already checked the cylinder for rust and damage. It was hot out, so I wasn't too concerned about it. It got torn down and rebuilt with fresh rings and seals soon after this video was taken. You're absolutely right though.
