Love it! I fail to understand why there are no modern mid-sized adventure bikes. The DR650 and KLR650 are both way past their prime and I neither need, nor can afford, a big BMW or KTM. Great job Rally Raid!
Absolutely, told the guy at Honda about Rally Raid and the fact they should be offering full dress off road 500Xs retail. One of those on the showroom floor would stir up a lot of interest. Alternatively if you're on a budget building it in stages.
True, it is about time there were some smaller bikes in the "adventure bike" world. Now Kawasaki's got a smaller 300cc Versys. KTM and BMW are getting into the 300cc adventure-touring class now. I've tried a friend's CB 500X and it's a comfortable fun bike to ride. He's doing some Rally Raid mods to it too.
Great info. I'm more and more interested in the CBx, but a shorty. Pretty stoked to learn that the Rally Raid offers options that won't lift the bike out of reach for me. I currently ride a Versys with the Speedy link, so I'm OK with one foot down. But I'm thinking the narrower CBx will be good for more of my foot down, and confidence on trails. GREAT ending, lol!
he definitively is a motorcycle lover, a zen motorcylce master, and that kind of villain who knows what he's saying :D hahaha that was a great adventure !!! i was confused about wich one could be the next motorcyle to buy ...and you guys show me the path to follow! thanks Folks!
The CB500X is on my short list. I have a CRF250L (modified) which I love, but want something mid size for longer trips with occasional stints on moderate dirt. I'm thinking maybe just good protection is all I'd need. The full treatment is almost half the price again of the new bike. Hard to justify so far. Thanks for the clear explanations.
Hi John, I've been following Juan's adventures and I'm in the process of purchasing a left over 2016 cb500x non abs from a dealer and I want to do a level 2 conversion. I was going to buy an Africa Twin, but after watching the interview with Jenny, I am convinced that this is the bike for me...seeing as how I'm only 5'8" with a 30" inseam. I am curious about tg e price of a FULL LEVEL 2 conversion w/ tubes wheels....thanks, phil
Check out their website bud, but I think you're looking at around $4000-$5000. You could almost buy two second hand CB500Xs for what it'd cost to buy and set up one Rally Raid 500X.
