My wife had the CB400 Super Sport as a learner bike. I really enjoyed riding this bike. Great handling and excellent power for the size of the motor. Great review. Thanks for doing the video.
Bloody hell. What a bike. Just got my Ps and bought one today as my first bike. Absolute weapon, 2012, 14,800km, tricolour in red, amazing power. Can’t wait to pick it up!
youll always remember it, like i remember mine, if you ever get round to selling it, and if you dont, it will remember you, cus it will last forever if you take good care of it
Holy frikken crap I love the CB400! I got one recently and ... just love it. Also it's actually a bloody sexy bike. I used to think these things were not the best lookers (only seeing photos) but in the flesh they are gorgeous - their design is elegant and timeless. The Vtec is a blast and they are insanely comfortable ( ised to do 300-600kms rides on my CBR300r which was fine but those long rides are far less fatiguing on the CB). The brakes are great too. It's definitely a keeper. Can I ask where you got those mirros? Mine came with bar ends mirrors and they are complete rubbish.
Love how passionate you are about the bike! I've been considering this bike because I'm a shorty and sat on one recently, realising that it's one of the lowest non-cruiser naked bikes I've seen. Most reviews seem really positive.
Very nice bike. I had a super four anniv issue non vtec years ago and I still want this newer version. This color you have is not available here in Manila though. I bet it is a super smooth bike to commute on. I can just dream on for now...
Hey mate, see you still reply and hope I can hear back. I am 6'4 and wondering if you think its too small? to me it seems best option for my lams but i worry it might be small or uncomfy. did you know many tall riders on these in your time of ownership? I want it and the VTEC that comes with it since I'm a honda nut haha. any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated cheers
This bike tested by time, mine was 2006 NC39 carburetor almost 18yo. mileage clocked 310k km hardy fail if regularly maintained. oh ya. the real fun is after 7000rpm.
Great review mate. I learnt on a cb400 vtec doing my LAMS training for a RE license. I passed well and decided I wanted a cruiser -.- BIG MISTAKE have sold that since and i'm playing to get one of these... Nothing has felt as good as that bike for me. I'm 6'5'' and don't feel cramped at all. Great power, loved the handling on it
Branden Bunny I am really happy with mine. Over a year on now and I still look at it for 10 mins after I clean it meticulously. If theres a day I dont ride it, im thinking for most of the day how much I want to. Even in the rain, with a good set of wet tyres (I run Angel GT) its a blast of fun. Even though inside I crave a big sporty bike, the roads I ride on are 60kph max or 185$ fine if you go over (thats first gear for the cb400 if you rev it hard). The CB400 suits city life perfectly, and the engine is small enough to allow you to blast the vtec to make some noise without doing over the limits. CB apparently stands for City Bike or at least I read this somewhere. The CB400 is perfect for the city with its easy handling. If you need something for the highway the CB400 might be a bit revvy and not as fuel friendly. Thankfully I see a highway perhaps once a month, for a max of 20mins due to work.
Just picked up a 2008 CB400 ABS. 12 years old with 589km on the clock. Looks brand new, kept in the garage, started 2 twice a year and ridden once a year to get rego. I FUCKEN LOVE IT. VTEC
SuperDream? Then stop thinking it... These are NOTHING even remotely like the SuperDream. I have had the 250, 400 and the 450DAX and they are nothing like this baby.
Nice review mate! You can't live more than a couple of kilometres from me, I also commute on a CB400 and love it. I definitely recommend the bike for anyone riding around Sydney roads, it is a doddle to filter on it and you feel completely in control of plenty of power.
+Benjamin Crossman its a good balance of power for this type of riding isnt it? go hard on the throttle and get plenty of power that you asked for, go soft and you can just pot around stress free, makes it difficult for the power to catch you out, allowing it to be easy to go fast, safely
Those Rizoma mirrors look really good. I got my CB400SF used and it came with a pair of Chinese made knock offs that vibrated themselves downwards out of position. Not that i could see anything with their sleek design. That said, I really love this bike.
I am picking up a identical colour 2008 CB400 in a few days, ordered a Misarri exhaust for it (loud exhausts saves lives) , will do a few videos shortly. Have owned 10 + bikes, CBR250RR X 2, ZX7r, CBR60f4i, SV650, RVF400 and the last one I had, a GSXR600K7. Also scooters, trail bikes and pit bikes. My favourite,,,,,,,the RVF400 Hoping to add the CB400 to my most favourite list
I have owned a few bikes too, gs500, cb600 hornet, street triple r, cbr250rr etc.. but my rvf400.. dam I miss that bike. The whine of the v4 and handling are incredible.
Good review mate, thought I recognised the roads then saw the signs that your in my local area haha. Just getting mine fixed up atm and a new exhaust put on. :)
Corey Willis thanks for the comments! Currently working on a video that will give you a nice insight on some exhausts out there for the cb400! Watch this space
+vialli ly Panniers are not such a thing with this bike, a bag rack can get you luggage on the rear seat and over the tail light, giving you in effect two places to have luggage
I owned a 2009 CB400. In 2014 I traded it for a Triumph Tiger 800, and I regretted it ever since. The CB400 is a wonderful bike - for new mature riders and for more experienced riders wanting an efficient bike for commuting.
+NotHis RealName Thanks for the insight, a small part of me wants to change it up as well, but a large part of me says theres nothing wrong with the little cb400 and I would be doing it only for my ego and lust for a bigger engine
Awesome, honest review dude. Thank you. I'm picking up a 2015 cb400 next week with only 1,500km on the clock and your videos have been extremely helpful. Any recommendations on a nice sounding premium exhaust? Regardless of cost?
too bad they dont sell these in Europe anymore, I guess they are expensive to export so at the end doesn't make sense to buy it with the same price as an MT-07 for example. but damn i love that classic look
In need of a service currently, but still goes very well. Got around 32k Kms on it, around 4k of it was me. Got a couple of problems with it though, not sure if you know anyone who has the same problems. Fuel tank that only works if it has more than half a tank, and if it goes under half a tank, it "runs out of fuel" for some reason. Cleaned out the tank and fuel cock but is only a bit better. Problem is still there to this day. And more recently, it developed a whining noise in fifth gear. Not sure what is wrong though. Other than that, it is mint :)
I currently have two bikes at the moment. A yamaha yzf-r125 and a honda cbr125r. I had a cbr250rr MC22 however I sold it and am in the process of looking for a cleaner example of one.
I would try and sit on one first. Ride one for 30mins - 1hour and see if you get any pains. The guy who sold mine to me was a giant (6,4), but he looked ridiculous on the thing. He said he found it comfortable, but in my review I said its a small bike, bigger guys would be more comfortable on bigger bikes. Everyone has different comfort levels though :)
I'm 6'1" and have had one of these for about a year. I feel it mostly in the knees after about 40 minutes or so. But it's also extremely planted, so standing up and stretching isn't difficult. It is an odd seating position as stated in the video. I reckon maybe flat bars like on the new CB500 would possibly be more comfortable but yeah it's not too bad. I've put 500 KMs down in one day and felt okay after, on long rides stops every hour or so help. In traffic when you're frequently stopping and putting your feet down also make commuting fine. The only other thing is I probably look too big on it, all that said, I love the bike! It keeps up with bigger bikes through the twisties due to how light it is and very well thought out power delivery. Most bikes in this capacity range are going to be much different size wise though, even the ninja 650s aren't much bigger. GSX650F or say, a Hyosung GT650R are both perfect fits for my size. I'm also a heavier dude though at 100KG.
I am 6'2" and rode my wife's CB400SS often. It was too small for me IMHO but others may have been OK. My knees started to ache after an hour. That said, it is a great learners bike. Excellent power for the size
POMMEY BIKER Well no one could argue with that :) what tyres do you use on yours? Being in the UK i am guessing you have some all rounders on there yeah? (btw i do love the bikes i have been riding mine for 2 and a half years now)
roflcopterkklol Im am using Angel GT's at the moment, good but I think I could do better. Looking forward to trying the Michelin's Pilot Road 3, both great in the wet!
