Just started work on 2.2 civic diesel and this video has just helped me a great deal. Thank you for the upload. Possibly Saved me from a very stressful day and car getting crushed. Hopefully have it back on the road in the next 24hrs.
Not one these engines. They have a primer fitted which u keep squeezing this the new filter get filled up. Follow my steps in the video n u will be fine.
@@S-O-T yeah - good car and loads of guts if it’s driving well. I’ve lost all acceleration in mine presently and terrible fuel economy. Thinking ablocked fuel filter which this video has helped me understand solution for. Hopefully after a change it’ll be back up and running (fun to throw about)
A very detailed explanation on the fuel filter change, I haven't tackled this job yet but I am now happy to give it a go thanks to your video. Keep up the good content and many thanks.
Proud owner of a Honda Civic 2.2 ex icdti first Honda I’ve ever owned and am so happy with it just searched on how to change the fuel filter and your video come up can’t thank you enough very detailed 👍
@@blardmann I picked a 2007 plate up last week £800 137000 on the clock the previous owner has replaced the clutch and flywheel drives like a dream smooth and strong and the diesel economy is phenomenal
Fantastic video less than 2 hours start to finish, car has over 122000 on it was on original Honda fuel filter, was dreading changing it. All done now thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. Mechanic said to me that I didn't need to change as it's long life. Took it out today thanks to your video and it was so dirty and black with bits. Car sounds so much better now
@@diykhan nice video, did you have problem with hot engine struggles to start , cold is starting ok, when hot seems to have a problem, been to different mechanics no one cand find , diagnostic shoes no code or error. Thanks.
Thanks for an excellent and clear video. Other videos that mention the fuel filter are not as good as yours. Have you done any more videos of jobs on this car? (I have a 2008 model with 150k miles on it) Will you be doing more videos in the future? Jacking and axle stands - am I correct in thinking you jacked at the front jacking points but put your axle stands under the round bush containing suspension/subframe mountings?
First of all thank you for this awesome tutorial! I just did this yesterday. I squeezed the pump and started the car but it didnt start, I then tried starting the car again and again it didnt start. I then squeezed the pump once more and tried turning the car on after and it started. I left it run for 5 mins before turning the car off. Did I introduce air into the fuel system? If so, how can I bleed the system without taking apart the battery and air filter out again? Thanks!
Service my 2.2 diesel every year, every 10'000 miles. Oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and oil. I believe it takes roughly 6.75ltr dry. I would never attempt the fuel filter that's a garage job for me 🤣
Thank yoy very much for detailed guide. I managed to follow the step to replace the fuel filter and did bleed prime but pump is still soft and I idea what could be wrong
Thanks for the very helpful video. Just managed to change the fuel filter, after a long battle! Just to note the fuel filter "bracket" on yours seemed to only have one 12mm bolt. Mine had two, with the other one a bit lower and bit of a ball ache for me to release with my basic tools. Managed to do it slowly with a basic 12mm spanner and a slight bending of the bracket! Guessing whoever did your filter previously didn't put the bottom bolt back in (wisely!) and neither have I!
Very good video but a concern on your oil change part..you only showed putting 5 litres of oil whereas this engine takes 6.5 litres..and secondly what I would do is leave the sump plug off until you have changed the oil filter..as when you take the oil filter out you still have old dirty oil which needs to be drained..and clean the oil filter housing with a rag it's better workmanship..I know you're only showing basics but we'll done either way
Hello, I have a honda civic gen8 2.2 CTDi. I just realised the glow plugs never been changed, got 153k on the clock, no missfires. Been taking really good care of the car since I bought it, general maintance done. Just passed MOT with no advisories, beside all the care, everytime I start the car and I am not moving, it smells like diesel inside (no leaks, already been checked by 3 diferent mechanics). Could this be a cause? Any ideias or sugestion? Thank You
@@diykhan hope so sent off for filter washer and tools just a oil and filter change first 😀😀 though might be doing a lot more with the cost of things going up
that fuel filter location is the worst I have seen in my whole life. Very poor Honda engineering. Being a Diesel, you have to change fuel filter every year.
Trust me i have seen far worse ones. This is nothing as compare to other which don't even start will u bleed the injectors and do other long processes.
