My first car was an EJ7 coupe with a B16 swap w/ full bolt-ons. It didn't burn oil, and it was fun to rip down twisty back roads. But I got sick of having to scream it to 5,200 RPM just to keep up with minivans in traffic, you could just feel the _hate_ from everyone around you, even when you're not driving like an asshole.
The street cars that get me excited the most are mildly tuned Hondas, Nissans, VWs, and the like. They have that feeling of "closeness" to most enthusiasts' reality. Not everyone can afford a Porsche or a Ferrari, but most can have access to a simpler car and modify them to their taste. :)
